Pin Oak Campground — Natchez Trace State Park

Clean Shower House and Personable Hosts

This campground has become our favorite. The campground is amazing, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday on weekends and every other day during the week. Completely cleaned!

The site has 77 sites full hook-up with sewage. Every site has grill, fire pit, table and lantern hook. We were #38 it was easy to back into and pretty level. The campground also have small cabins with bunk beds to rent. There is no indoor water just beds, electric and air for a great price. There is a small swimming area too at Pin Oak.

There are a few lakes in the area. Pin Oak is the only motor lake. Cub lake has a larger swim area with paddle boat, Jon boat and kayak rentals. The rentals are only weekends. Browns Creek Lake also has honest system rentals of Jon boat but for fishing purposes only and you have to pay for a lake permit.

The park is great! Lexington is close for quick runs for anything you need. We loved this park so much we may be changing our family BBQ to this park next year.

Cravens Bay - LBL Lake Access

      Quite, Private.

Very nice campground, better than what I expected. We stayed at site 20 with a 36' travel trailer we had to actually drive all the way to the end of the campground to turn around so we could back into the site.  Cravens Bay is secluded and about a 2 mile drive off the main road running through LBL.

There is a attendant at the site that you have to check in with first who will let you know what sites are available and pay after you have chosen your site and settled in.  The attendant station did have some snacks for sale as well ice, also in the event that you may need assistance with any problems at you camp site or even with your camper the attendant more than likely has the tools to help you.

The road leading into the campsite is paved but narrow, the roads at the campsite are well hard packed gravel and very narrow.  Cravens Bay basically breaks down into two areas, the low ground (first sites upon entering) and the high ground (sites further in at the top of the hill), there are some sites scattered in-between these two areas but for the most part the largest campsites areas are the high and low ground sites.  The sites in-between the two high and low ground areas are very private and two are definitely secluded.

We stay three days and during that time other than the occasional fisherman or the attendant driving by it was definitely very private and quite.  There were some seasonal campers there who were very helpful and friendly (even cut up some timber for us to burn).

If you don't mind not having any hook ups and dry/boon docking with your camper Cravens Bay has a lot to offer in terms of privacy, peace, boating, fishing, and swimming.  Defiantly for the nature lovers out there, nothing like seeing a Bald Eagle hunting fish while drinking coffee first thing in the morning.

Pin Oak Campground — Natchez Trace State Park

      Overnight at Oak Campground

We stayed one night at the Oak Campground. We drove straight to our site (per the Visitor Center’s instruction) - it’s about 15 minutes off I-40. The site was in great shape, there was wood left for us, and the bathhouses were super clean. The campground landscape is rolling hills so everyone has a different view of the lake. Our kids enjoyed riding their bikes and playing on the small beach. There was a playground for smaller kids and several people were fishing and boating. The campsites are not super private, but they are nicely spaced, everyone was pleasant and it was quiet in the evening. Lots of folks w pups, but they were all leashed or fenced. The lodge was over a mile away so we didn’t make it over there and if you are looking for amenities, there really aren’t any. There are other campgrounds in the Park, as well as a Visitor Center. For a nice and reasonably priced overnight, I would strongly recommend.

      Lots of options

I love Loretta Lynn's! Lots of options for all types of camping. They have equestrian spots, RV spots, tent spots, and cabins for rent. Plus so much to do on the property! Can get busy on holiday weekends when the weather is nice or if they are doing any events there! Otherwise you can easily find a spot here!

      Lot of night activity

Nice park, good facilities, but no shower. The description said there was a 'bathhouse', I assumed it had a shower.
There was a lot of traffic late at night with people parking and staying in their cars for about an hour and a truck that visited each one, not sure what was happening \-:
There's a highway next to the park with trucks occasionally engine braking.

      Huge park

This is a very big park with multiple types of camping options and also a lodge with a restaurant. Lots of great fishing and boating spots. There’s a few beaches for swimming and multiple playgrounds for the little ones. Check it is super easy, you just drive up to your site. The RV sites had plenty of room and were very well maintained. We met the camp host to buy firewood and he was really nice and accommodating.

      TMMR 2022

Area is beautiful but sites were close together and the ground outside of my trailer was very unusable, all hill and large rocks. No way to spend time outside of the camper. After I leveled it the bottom of the front steps had a 2 foot drop and the rear were on the ground. The slope made the sewage hook up a nightmare. Verizon had spotty signal at best. My buddy and i tried to reserve a spots based off of a campsite map prior to going but when I showed we were put in different spots. Apparently the drive way for the cabin was also a spot and thew off the maps numbering... they only refunded us 1 "pick your spot price" since we were close enough. The area has great potential but just needs TLC and effort. Never checked out the showers and such but the store was nice and staff was friendly. I will say TMMR was a blast and I'll be back but for the money spent on a campsite, a 40ft toyhauler shouldn't have to be rigged into a site at a rally.

KOA Campground Kentucky Lakes Prizer Point

Great during end of season for large groups

Prizer Point is where I hostess a (Usually) large-ish group of women campers for a looong weekend of festivities. Our weekend themes have been simple (this year I taught Geocaching) to full blown festival (last year was Pirate's in the Cove). The success of the event weekends is largely due to the amazing staff at Prizer, as they accommodate a lot of last minute pleas for changes and help! This customer service amenity was truly evident this last April, when I hosted over 70 women campers from across the United States who camp local to a natural disaster area while they do volunteer services in the affected community - the Prizer staff made our stay very accommodating, even opening up the new "lagoon" area for our RV's with freshly paved full hookup pull through sites, a beautifully renovated bath house, large grassy area for gathering and our tent campers, and a bonfire area. The pools were (are usually are not) open when the women and I come to camp on our "week-end" (every September), and the lake was already at winter pool this year, but that makes it quite easy to launch a kayak, or SUP right from the floating dock that is sitting on the bottom of the inlet.  In years past we've stayed in the cove area, on the original side of the park, where there is only water and electric hook ups. Prizer has a "honey wagon" that comes and pumps your waste water tanks every other day or as needed. The new lagoon area has full hook up so you don't need the honey wagon.

      Beautiful Views

I stayed here for 1 night in early April at an RV back-in site#81 on the hill. Water and electric were at the site. There was a dump station, trash and recycling near the campground entrance. The views were spectacular- especially the sunset. I would gladly stay here again!

We had a blast at Prizer Point KOA with our family over a weekend recently. Our site was on Ontario Rd, waterfront with plenty of spaces for the littles to run and play. Love that it’s dog friendly. Very clean and updated with more improvements in the works. Looking forward to visiting again this summer!

      On the Marina

We stayed here for 2 nights and were pleased with our large, quiet site overlooking the "lagoon" and marina. The campground was half empty (due to end-of-season campers and kids heading back to school). We had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. There are trails through the woods and riding bikes through the campground allowed us to view the lake from beautiful angles. This is probably a very busy campground in the summer for boaters and water lovers. The store was a little bare, but we weren't there to shop anyway. :-)

Was greeted by friendly staff, splurged on a cabin and it was clean and comfortable. Good amenities, could use better maintainence

We enjoyed the amenities that came with our stay. There was a late night check in mishap (no one answered, and we were left wandering around to look for space) they did offer us 1/2 off the first night. The lagoon was fun, and we enjoyed it, could use a lil underside cleaning and inflation maintainence. Bathhouses clean, kiddie/outdoor pool nice for adults too.

      Loretta Lynn's Ranch

      Campground is EXTREMELY run down

First, I want to say that the employees in "Western Town" & tour guides were AMAZING! 👏

The campground was HORRIBLE! It was run down. The toilets at the pool house were backed up. The pool was well kept. They did close the pool for storms and did NOT reopen it until the next day. NOT good management of resources.

There are NO fire rings for safe fires. The tent sites have no picnic tables. It appeared that it is geared more towards the "EVENT" aspect of the campground. They also had people place their garbage by the road for pickup instead of dumpsters or garbage cans.

The speed limit is 10 mph. HOWEVER, kids were racing around the campground and going off road on quads. This was daily and continued until after 9pm. I would think for liability reasons the employees would monitor things better.

The tours of Loretta's homestead replica, her mansion and the museums was AMAZING! That would be the only reason I would ever return.

God bless Loretta Lynn and her family. A fan forever

      Horrible Customer Service

I haven’t even made it to the campground! When I made my reservation it was an ordeal, getting charged incorrectly and the wrong dates. Then when we had to adjust the dates I couldn’t get through to anyone, left two voicemails and still no reply. When I finally got to talk to a person she was very helpful. My suggestion, if your phones are that busy maybe get some more people in there to help out?!

      KOA campground

Very good for pull behinds or semi-permanent but less than desirable for tent campers. Tents were relegated to a narrow strip in the campground really too small for campers. Water and electric are available but restrooms/showers are about 1/4 mile away. Not what would be considered tent friendly.

Pretty quiet and peaceful campground in early April.

Website said the Pier restaurant would be open but when we arrived it wasn't scheduled to open until later in the month.

Restrooms and showers were clean but most are very small. There is 1 handicapped and 1 family unit for the facility.

Standing dead trees in the tent site. I had to ask workers to cut 1 tree beside my site when I arrived.

Gave them a (generous) 4 from our perspective.
