Several RV campgrounds serve the Mount Summit area, including Muncie RV Resort with full hookups and year-round access for big rigs. The sites feature concrete pads with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. One camper noted, "Water pressure was fine at our site, and many of the back-in sites can be pull-through if you get there when it's not busy." Thousand Trails Indian Lakes in Batesville offers spacious motorhome sites with 50-amp service approximately 40 miles south of Mount Summit, while Prairie Creek Park provides electric hookups with water available throughout the grounds. Most RV campgrounds in the region maintain gravel pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs, though leveling may be necessary on some sloping pads.

During summer months, weekend availability becomes limited at the more developed parks with amenities like swimming pools and Wi-Fi. Across the area, dump stations are available at most parks, though some facilities like S and H Campground may have limitations during heavy rain periods. Cell service varies by carrier, with AT&T generally providing adequate coverage for most needs. According to reviews, "Some campers paid for the season and leave their trailers on site, coming in for weekends only," creating a unique atmosphere at certain parks. Pet-friendly policies are standard throughout the region's RV parks, but rules regarding pet enclosures differ by location. Most campgrounds near Mount Summit remain open from April through October, with a smaller selection offering year-round accessibility.

Mounds State Recreation Area Campground — Brookville Lake

This is a nice little campground. There is a lot of space between campers, and the spots are asphalt and somewhat level. It didn’t feel crowded at all. There are plenty of good hiking trails around and it’s fun to go look at the dam. Highly recommend going to the overlook at sunset!

      Wayne County Fairgrounds

      Lots of space, open fields

We had a wonderful camping experience at the Wayne County Fairgrounds during a recent convention we attended on-site! The grounds were spacious, peaceful, and easy to navigate. Having 30 amp electric hookups, convenient access to water, and dump stations on the property made our stay comfortable and stress-free. There was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the outdoors, and the location was convenient for getting around Richmond. We would gladly camp here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay!

      Hueston Woods State Park Campground

      Small close site.

I feel this is more of a tent camping campground. You park on pads and park campers anywhere you want. Nice shower house. Not much for kids. Hills.

    What you should know

Site conditions vary widely: Not all Mount Summit area campgrounds maintain level sites. At S and H Campground, one camper reported, "Our site was incredibly uneven."
