White River Campground

County-owned White River Campground sits along the White River in Cicero, with paved roads leading to level concrete pads that accommodate RVs up to 50 feet. The campground divides into three sections: Section A offers accessible sites, Section B provides full hookups with sewer connections, and Section C features water and electric hookups alongside tent camping areas.

Several sites back directly up to the river, giving campers immediate water access for launching canoes and kayaks. Arthur P. notes the facility is "clean, well maintained" with aluminum picnic tables and fire rings at each site. The campground operates a small store stocked with firewood and supplies, while two bathhouse facilities serve different areas—the front facility near the office includes hot showers, though the rear facility lacks shower access.

Paddlers can launch directly from the campground or coordinate pickups with nearby White River Canoe Company for longer trips downstream. A historic bridge connects campers to an adjacent county park featuring hiking trails, equestrian paths, and recreational activities including high ropes courses. The campground's proximity to town means a 15-minute drive reaches basic supplies, while larger stores sit within 20 minutes.

WiFi coverage reaches sections A and B reliably but becomes spotty in other areas, according to multiple reviews. The facility shows its age in places, and sites away from the river receive mixed feedback compared to waterfront locations. ProfG999 found the internet service strong enough to "work online and stream TV." Late-night vehicle traffic occasionally disturbs tent campers in primitive sites.

Reservations fill spots quickly during peak season, particularly for river-adjacent sites that offer the most direct water access.

Reservation Info

Registered campers must be 21 years of age with a valid ID.

Eight people is the maximum number allowed at a campsite. Each site may have two tents or one camper and one small tent.

Vehicles are limited to 2 per site on most sites. Additional vehicles must be parked in the designated campground parking lot.

The maximum length of stay is 14 consecutive nights out of a 16-night period.

We require full payment at the time the reservation is made.

White River Campground allows a maximum of two pets per campsite. While pets are welcome, we require proof of Rabies vaccination to be on file in our campground office.

Beautiful and Relaxing!

We traveled from Tennessee for a concert in Indianapolis (about a 40-minute drive) and absolutely loved this campground! The sites are paved, level, and offer plenty of yard space, with many located right along the river.

It’s right at the entrance to a scenic walking trail, and they even offer electric bike rentals to explore the area. The campground store is one of the nicest we’ve seen, and the bathrooms are clean and well maintained. There’s also a new, modern playground.

Wi-Fi is available, and we had solid cell service with 3 bars on US Cellular and T-Mobile. If we lived closer, we’d definitely be back!

Winter season is over middle of April, and we were here April 3rd. Water was turned off at the sites, but they had a spot to fill up your holding tank.

Full hook-ups!

Good amenities

Loved our 2 night stay, the camp store was great. Glad they had extra firewood. Cicero the town close by is a cute one with a nice water scene. Only 2 other tents set up in the whole campground. Most of the rv/camper spots were taken though.

Great spot for camping

We are here for just one night as we are headed back to Georgia. I used the Dyrt search and in this area I looked at this place and boy am I glad I did. I wish it were closer to home. We are next to the river and we are loving it. Beautiful sites and family friendly. Staff are great too.

Well maintained campground

Setup was quick and easy on the large, level concrete pad. We had full hookup site. There were no mosquitoes even being close to river. Plenty to do in area. Our T-mobile internet had a good connection.

Has everything

Stayed here as a stopover going south. FHU with a level concrete pad and sites decently spaced apart. Near a lake and hiking trails. That said, apart from it's proximity to Indianapolis, it's seems pretty quiet here.

Easy Weekend Trips For Indianapolis Area

Stayed in one of the primitive sites during the week. Most RV sites were occupied, but only one other tent was out there. Well maintained for the most part, showing its age in some spots. Dealt with some late night noise primarily from vehicles coming and going.

Clean, County Owned Park

White River Campground is a county owned park within 15 minutes small town Indiana (Cicero) complete with a small town grocery and dollar general. Within 20 minutes or Walmart and Grocery stores. Campground is divided up into A-B-C sections. A is accessible. B is full hookup with sewer and C is water/elec only and tent camping. Park next door is great for hiking, has walk bridge over river to trails, horse backing riding, high ropes course. Campground is on the white river, offers boat launching. Bathrooms are decent. Playground is newly remodeled. Laundry onsite, wood for sale, and some wifi. We found the wifi only reaches in sections A-B even though it’s advertised as reaching the entire camp. Camp office and IT support were no help.

Big Rig Friendly

Sites away from the river are BRF. On the river, not so much. Place seems old and needed general maintenance. We were suppose to stay three nights but only stayed two. I would only stay one night and go for us.

Great Location

We enjoyed the ease of getting “out of town” in our own backyard. Quick trip for central IN residents.

If you are looking for seclusion, this is not the site for you.

Highly recommend doing a canoe trip down the white river.

Great riverside campground

I live about 30 minutes from this campground and love it! Clean, quiet and cheap! Launch your canoes or kayaks from the campground, or book a trip from nearby White River Canoe Company and they'll pick you up. Across a historic river bridge from a huge county park with walking/biking/equestrian trails.

I have stayed in both tent and rv sites, and they are clean and level.

Quick getaway

Nice camp ground along the white river with several sites along the waterway. Clean, well maintained, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Paved road with level concrete sites, could be a little more spacious, but all n all laid out nicely with aluminum picnic tables, and fire ring, 50 and 30 amp hook ups along with H20, and several full hook ups. Tent camping also available. Well stocked camp store. The facilities up front by the office are very clean and have showers with hot water. They could use a bench in the shower stall for your clothing and a space To get dressed discreetly. The facility at the end of the campground dosent have showers and are adequate but not quite as nice. Campground is in a good location close to many amenities

Best campground ever!

I've traveled across the US and this is the best campground I've stayed in. First of all it's very clean which is surprising for Indiana. Back up to the river. Great views. Free hot showers! Quiet. Feels secluded though close to town. Good price too. Free wifi that worked so well we could both work online and stream TV! It does not get any better. Dog friendly. Nice playground for the kids. Fire circles and clean picnic tables at each site. If I lived here, I'd come here often. Great place. Walking and biking trails. Canoeing and kayaking. Historic bridge.

Short drive from home

Fills up fast, so make your reservation. It's small but one of my favorites. There is a canoe launch spot on the river, and hiking trails. Their bathrooms and showers are the cleanest I've came across. Also close by is koteewi, which has horseback riding, ziplines, an archery range, along with other activities.
