Timberline Family Campground sits on the eastern edge of Anderson, Indiana, a privately managed property with access by road, water, or on foot. The campground is set near a creek, river, and lake, giving anglers multiple places to wet a line. Sites have full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, and the campground also provides WiFi, showers, and a dump station, making it a functional base for RV travelers as well as tent campers. Those planning extended stays should contact the campground directly about rates, as one reviewer noted monthly pricing can run high.
Site layout draws mixed feedback. One camper described the arrangement as "spacious but a bit awkward," with vehicles separating tents from picnic tables and fire rings. Trees are sparse at present, which means limited shade and reduced privacy between neighboring sites. Hammock campers and those who rely on trees for hanging gear will want to factor that in. On the upside, restrooms are reportedly cleaned twice daily and kept in good condition. The fishing is a consistent draw, with shoreline and bridge access available, though the lake sits at some distance from the main camping area.
Mounds State Park Campground is less than a mile to the southwest for campers who want a public land alternative nearby. Reservations are available at Timberline Family Campground and are worth booking in advance for summer weekends, when sites tend to fill. Pets are allowed, though the campground does enforce leash rules on-site.
Description
We have 95 campsites, 91 of which are full hook-up, water, sewer, and electric, 30 amp, 12 50 Amp service Pull-thru, and 4 Sites are water and electric only. We are situated on 80 acres, with one mile of frontage on White River, between Anderson, and Chesterfield, 2.8 miles West of Interstate 69, exit 34. North-bound I-69, exit 34 is VERY confusing! It is a double exit. First road at bottom of ramp is Indiana 67. Cross over it, it looks as though you are going back onto the interstate, but you are not. Stay to the RIGHT side, you will exit onto Indiana State Road 32. Go WEST, 2.8 miles, to airport, that is County road 300 E, there is where you turn RIGHT, down the hill, RIGHT again, up the next short hill, and LEFT into the Campground. We have a 13 acre island in the river, and a great many choices of bike (pedal type) riding, and hiking trails. Nearby, a 10 minute drive, is Hoosier Park, featuring a regular race schedule from mid March, to mid December. Up stream, you will find a canoe livery, offering float trips of 2 to 10 hours on the river. You may view their site at www.canoeindiana.com. It is possible to arrange a nice day trip, and arrive at your campsite right on the river! We have a 3.5 acre fishing lake, and a sandy beach
