Lovely campground north west of Chicago. The shower facilities were clean and the staff very friendly.

Working in the area

Large campground, concrete spots are very nice.

  • $10 to jump.
  • Obstacle course.
  • Apple/ball launcher, fun but a $1 per ball.

Good Company but Overpriced

Took our new to us Pop Up Camper to this resort during Labor Day weekend on her maiden voyage. Was surrounded by awesome people in their big rigs but not once made us feel inferior or less than for not having an RV at an RV resort. Pros:

  • Activities provided by the campsite
  • lots of room and not…

Small treasure in Illinois, near Illinois RR Museum

We came across this one day during a day hike in the Marengo Ridge Forest preserve in McHenry county. It's about 90 mins NW of Chicago. The trails are both wooded and hilly, but there's also a large prairie nature walk.
The campground has many secluded walk-in tent sites and a variety of sites…

  • we had to push our little trailer up the hill, but the site was very pleasant and secluded

Friendly staff & nice trails

Staff was very friendly. Easy access to nice hiking trails. Bathrooms and showers decent. No concessions, but there is a place in the office to get Pepsi products. Would definitely stay here again if outside of Chicago area!

Great Simple Tent Camping

We love a nice, quiet place to camp and were delighted when in August only half of the Sunset campground was full and those in it were quiet. Our spot, #320 had great tree coverage for privacy and while most of the spots did there were some on the inner circle that didn't have as much. The State…

Stay for the night only

Very difficult to contact staff to book reservation. When we got there they told us they double booked us and requested we move after we got set up. We declined as there were other spots open and we were staying for under 24 hours. Concessions were scarce. No water or dumping hook up. Electric…

A good two weeks

This is a no frills campground with super nice people and great place to let the pups run, play, swim, and walk. The bald eagles nests are also amazing. We had water and 50amp, with a black water dump once or twice a week at your RV’s site. The huge, mowed, grassy field in front of our coach for…

Great campground!

Great campground, very well-maintained, nice sites, great location. One of our favorites of a month long trip staying at 15 sites!

Great campground just outside of Chicago!

Did a quick stay with the kids for a Friday and Saturday night. A little bit smaller of a campground with regards to site space, but that's about the only thing 'bad' to say, and it's not really a bad thing at all.

Staff was very friendly and the facilities were kept very clean.

Plenty for…

Nearly perfect campground

Gorgeous park in a somewhat remote, i.e., quiet area. The sites are large, level and well-dispersed; there’s plenty of shade; the electrical connections are well-placed. Unfortunately, the water connection in our site (61) was a bit of a stretch. Contact via phone was a bit challenging; it took…

Clean, quiet, close

This is a nice campground. Very clean and the sites are well maintained with water and electric at each. The campground is not far from stores in case you need to pick anything up or forgot something. Cell signal is great (Verizon). We really enjoyed our stay for the weekend and will be back.

Newly upgraded with new concrete pads on pull thrus and 50 amp , full hkups

Newly upgraded pull thru sites.  New concrete pads and sod.  50 amp full hookups.  Didn't use the pool, but looked nice.  Had a great band Saturday night.  Pricey, but nothing else with full hookups within quite a distance and right down the street from Lake Geneva.  Property Manager Kyle was…

Pleasantly surprised after reading some of prior reviews. Quit place, staff very nice, family friendly, sites are large, plenty of things for kids to do. I would definitely come back.
