Located 11 miles from Interstate 84 on gravel roads, this free Forest Service campground sits within the camping near Sawtooth National Forest. Most camping happens at dispersed sites scattered beyond the formal campground boundaries. Campers report finding established sites on the north side of the reservoir, though many weekend visitors leave RVs parked during the 14-day limit and return periodically. The landscape opens to wide views of surrounding hills, particularly striking at sunset according to visitors.

Cell service remains unavailable for major carriers, and the campground provides no water access. "No access to water so be prepared," advises Matthew R.. Cattle roam freely through the area and can be vocal at night. Flies are common, though mosquitoes stay minimal. The nearest alternative camping includes Sublet Creek just over two miles northeast.

Nice Free Site

This campground is nice and there are clear markings and signs. The road getting in isn’t bad and the only downside was the noise of the cows. They were getting frisky in the night and making a lot of noise. I would still recommend this place!

Scenery is Beautiful

The scenery is beautiful in the area, but most of the dispersed sites are out of the actual "Campground". There were also a lot of people who had parked their campers for the allowable 14 days and just leave them there until the weekends. It made it difficult to find a spot that wasn't already taken with an empty rig. The 'neighbors' speeding down the dirt road at 11pm honking their horns when passing a campsite was also less than desirable. No cell service for TMobile.

Very Remote Very Nice

Took my dodge dart back here, almost 40 minutes on the gravel road from I-84. I think its about 11 miles but in some case there were large rocks that an SUV could easily handvke but i need to go slow and move some out of the way.

No cell service. Verizon

What a beautiful place to camp.

It reminds me of some landscapes of Iceland and Ireland. Cows are friendly around here. Lot of flies but no mosquitoes! No access to water so be prepared. We camped at a designated site on the north side of the reservoir. Off I 84 then gravel road for about 11 miles so worth it!
