Free but so many bugs!

There were a ton of mosquitoes when we visited, so much so that we couldn’t sleep in our truck and had to set up a tent. Several cars drove by on the road, some as late as 2:30 in the morning. Also, the cows nearby were super loud. Not the best sleep but hey, it’s a free site. No amenities at all.

Nice Free Site

This campground is nice and there are clear markings and signs. The road getting in isn’t bad and the only downside was the noise of the cows. They were getting frisky in the night and making a lot of noise. I would still recommend this place!

Great Campground

Hot showers, laundry, and a great price. It’s easy to walk to downtown Skagway and close to the library for free WiFi. No fire pits is the only downside.

Not well maintained

I stayed for two nights within a span of a few days due to car troubles. This campsite is so poorly maintained with toilet paper not being replaced, dirty showers, and TONS of mosquitoes. This is not even near water so I don’t understand how the sites have hundreds of mosquitos in them. It costs $8 per load of laundry and only one dirty/cold shower works.

Best campsite in all of Alaska

While this campsite might be basic in amenities, the views are unbeatable! This also give great access to McCarthy and Kennicott shuttles. Be very careful on the road here, we got a flat on the way out but some very kind Alaskans helped us out and got us on the way.

Nice Spot in Palmer

This campsite has showers and really nice, quiet spots in the woods. The only downside was the mosquitos which were terrible.

Beautiful Spot

This campground is beautiful! Surrounded by birch trees with huge, private spots. This is one of the first campgrounds on the Chena Hot Springs road and it does have service. The only downside was the mosquitos, they were bad.

Camp in Fairbanks

This is a great location, right in Fairbanks by the fairgrounds. Don’t book site 28 or 27 as you will end up camping in a parking lot. Also, the bathrooms are closed for the season so to take a shower, we had to walk through a dog show in the fairgrounds to get ourselves clean. Laundry is good!

Nice Free Campsite

This campsite is right off the highway and has bathrooms, fire rings, and picnic tables. There was still a lot of snow in late May so not all of the sites were accessible. Not many people there but a fine site if you want a free campground in the Denali area.
