Tanglewood Gardens Mobile Home and RV Park

Everything you need, 20 minutes to beach

This is a mobile home/rv park. Very quiet, pets allowed, full hookups, flawless wifi, big sites with driveways and slab for entryway to your rig. They offer weekly and monthly, very hard to get a spot sometimes, very popular place for long term stays. They have always managed to squeeze me in. The owner and managers are amazing as well.

    Overpriced ⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you’re looking for some water access this place is decent. It's a fairly nice park, however it's dense and feels crowded. Seems like there are quite a bit of long term campers here. There is nice access to water off the pier and seating is available on the their private beach. Not much room to explore other than inside loop of the park but for overnight water access in a pinch its worth the experience. Our pad was elevated and easy to get in and out. Full hook ups and pretty clean facilities. Lots of children running around , mopeds etc. The trash on the morning we left was over flowing in the dumpste. In a jam we would consider staying again.

    Wifi - Yes

    ATT - Yes

So much Fun for the kids!

We have been to Splash RV two times now. Last time was before school started, and it has been our granddaughters favorite RV park so far. There are a lot of activities planned for the kids….the free donuts on the weekend, were a hit. Our sites were back in, with full hook ups, level site and picnic table. The lazy river and waterslides were her favorite. We especially liked the armband so the kids were able to purchase food, drinks, game tokens for the arcade, which was great on the day that it rained the karaoke was also a lot of fun, and the foam party was a blast to watch. Staff was very nice. The bathrooms and laundry facilities were clean and large, but We did not use. The dog park is very big with a dog washing station. Piggly Wiggly is nearby as well as gas stations and dollar store…it is a little more pricey than we normally spend, but it was worth it to see the smile on our granddaughters face. I would recommend looking at the map online, before booking, to make sure you choose the right spot for your RV as some are closer together than others.

    Peaceful and Clean

Point A Campground Andalusia, Alabama This is a nice campground with very nice camp hosts and clean bath houses. We did not notice any long term campers. We had full hookups, wifi, cable, a fire pit, and a nice concrete picnic table on a partially gravel and red dirt and partial asphalt unlevel site. Our site was $40 a night without any added fees. They only accept cash and check. No deposit was required!! We had a water view, but plenty are on the water. We had shade. They have several large pull through sites without a sewer. A lot of the other campers had their boats and trailers and it looked like they were enjoying fishing and tubing on the lake. Plenty of children were swimming in the water at the end of the pier. The campground is pet friendly. Andalusia is a quaint, small town that is a little over an hour north of the Florida Panhandle. We enjoyed the 4th of July parade and they have several good restaurants.

    Very Friendly Staff!

Perdido Key RV Resort & Marina is very clean and well maintained! We loved the heated pool and their freezer full of ice cream available in the office too. There's also a restaurant down the street that has a playground, which was nice for the kids! I do agree with the other review about the bridge being a bit noisy at night though. Would stay here again!

Great family friendly RV Resort!  Staff will go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable stay.  Located in the Intracoastal Waterway,  they have a raised beach where you can sit and enjoy the ships passing through.  Facilities are clean and frequently attended to.  Pool is heated/chilled depending on the weather. Short drive (2 minutes) to the Gulf beaches and Johnson Beach.

    Point A RV Park

    Wonderful campground

True to the word campground. This place has trees and wildlife and a beautiful lake while also having a laundry facility, bathhouse an wifi. Not like your average luxury rv resorts ( parking lot with a pool). On-site host greets you and gets you checked in as you enter the park. Maintenence crew does a fantastic job keeping the grounds looking great year round. There is also a nearby beach swimming area and boat ramps.

Fort Pickens Campground — Gulf Islands National Seashore

    Nice quiet basic campground

For those campers who enjoy a more basic less touristy campground, this one is great. Has rv hookup sights, bath houses and laundry facilities. But no facilities like crowded pools, game rooms, etc. Park rangers are great and always had very helpful camp hosts. Best step above primitive camping while allowing for close to nature setting. Short walk to water, good coastal fishing, Ft Pickens historical site to visit, etc. Not long drive to town. We love it especially in early winter.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Resort - Alabama Gulf Coast

    Not Jellystone Quality

Came here expecting Jellystone experience with lots of activities. They have none. Temper your expectations to be a campground with a playground. When we pulled into our assigned spot the water and electricity hookups were oddly placed (site 74 I think). On top of that, the permanent resident in the spot next to the one we were to be in had their pickup parked in what would be our “backyard,” had a tarp on our fire pit, and had moved and taken over what would have been our picnic table. I went and asked for a different site because of this! The outside edge spots seem to be more permanent long term people and the inner ones more short term. Pool was open but very cold.

    Riverside RV Resort

    Peaceful surroundings

This RV Resort is quiet and peaceful. The bathroom/shower house is locked at night. There is a river with beautiful clear water. There is a place to grill out and to hang out. There is a deck that overlooks the river. The camp hosts are friendly and super helpful. I loved it there. It is convenient to I-10 and to the Foley Beach Express. I’m looking forward to staying there again. It was always quiet and peaceful at night and most of the time during the day as well.

    Not so great camping

This place is more for long term residents. You can camp if there is an available spot. Not much to do except stay over night and then head out to find State parks that aren't to far away.

The Retreat RV & Campground On Styx River

    Welcoming

The retreat offers several amenities including showers, laundromat, and gas grills. There are even bouncy houses and playgrounds for the kids.

It's located on the river and they have a pet beach separate so even your dogs can enjoy the water.

The camp manager is nice and very helpful. They are definitely a great asset.

Full service hookups are currently limited as they work on an expansion, but they do have plenty of water/power hookups both off and on the river. There's also a cabin, glamping tents, and a tiny house. There are plenty of shaded spots.

There are a few long term residents who are friendly and welcoming.

I definitely recommend this campground for a fun, relaxing stay.

Out of the Way & Quiet

I lived in this park for three years long term. The original owner (Peanut) was still alive but I believe his Son now runs the place. I had a site on the back side and had plenty of room to spread out. One thing though was towards the end of my stay a group of shall we say Meth heads moved in next door and made my last few months there interesting (fights, alot of vehicle traffic etc) so I left. I live this way to get away from that type of folks so it was a deal breaker. Reasonable rent, fixed rate for long term visitors and enough amenities to let you keep your laundry clean. No showers were available when I lived there but that may have changed by now. There is a lake there and alot of ducks and chickens on the park grounds. Most people there keep to themselves and dont cause trouble.

    Fun time!

We had a great time at Ahoy RV Resort! We rode bikes around the campground and outside of the campground on the surrounding dirt roads. They have volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, and tetherball. If you don’t have a volleyball or basketball, they have some equipment at the store that appears like you can borrow or rent. The kids had fun at the pool. Our neighbors were great! The staff was great. We didn’t do much in terms of “community” activities but they did have some evening stuff going on. There was a beautiful fog that came early morning. All around good time. Would return again. Also, there’s a fun little dog park!

    Pensacola Camping

We spent 4 days at this camp site. There is two different sites on with poured pads and the other just dirt. The sites are night and day different. One kept up and the other ran down. Unable to get on the good side due to long term retired campers. However, overall good place to stay for the cost. Bathrooms very clean.

    Big Lagoon State Park Campground

    Nice spot but....

We stayed in three sites in April 2021: 27, 6, and 64. This campground is in a nice location and has many good features: many beautiful trees and plants, spacing between sites, clean bathhouses, etc. Unfortunately , many of the trails are closed long-term, probably since Hurricane Sally. Moreover, it’s an older campground and many of the sites aren’t level and are sandy. That made big trouble for us in site 64: our sprinter van got stuck in the sand and he had to call AAA to get a tow truck to get us out. We aren’t the only ones: I saw another family’s vehicle stuck with spinning tires the night before and there were other sites with tread marks from possibly similar situations. The park has recognized the problem and has cement pads or better hard surface leveling in some sites, but not all. Bummer.

    Well maintained, clean

We stayed for just an overnight stay. It was very clean and very well maintained. The manager was very sweet and super accommodating to our last minute request. It’s an RV only site. Has a small area for dogs.

Otherwise I see it as just a place to park. No other things for kids there… but your in the pan handle of Florida so using it as just somewhere to sleep at night isn’t bad if you utilize the beaches and such.

All concrete pads, full hook up, wifi available quick access to stores.

Cedar Lakes RV Park & Campground

Umm, not for us but ok, I guess

I wasn’t able to find out much information about this 25-site campground as the owner was not in the office when we visited. It is located not far from Interstate 10, but I would not recommend trying to find it after dark.

The campground is on a dirt road and there were puddles from recent rain, although it was not difficult to navigate in our van. It did appear that some of the“campers” were long term residents.

The website indicates there is a pool, but I did not see one. The website also indicates the following information (although I could not confirm it): cash only, pets are ok, 30/50 amp electric plus one FHU site, restrooms/showers/laundry.

There is a small lake and fishing is available, but no boat launch (lake would be too small for boats). Other than that, there really is nothing to do here.

    Hurlburt Field FamCamp

Simple Football Field Paved RV Loop in the Middle of Nowhere

If you are looking for a simple place to park your RV for the night and don’t mind an environment completely devoid of character and simply want to park on a flat piece of concrete and aren’t concerned with the Matrix-like ubiquitous pod-style diagonal RV parking slots that look and feel identical to each and everyone besides it, then Hurlburt Field FamCamp might just be for you. Unlike many other ‘erector-set’ RV pastures that have sprung up everywhere recently, here at least there is a designated area that offers up 5-6 different fresh wooded sites for those desiring to ‘pitch a tent.’

While there are a number of other nearby campgrounds (but to be fair, this is less a campground and more accurately, an RV parking lot), there exists a number of other alternatives that will place you much closer to nature and the Gulf of Mexico. But if that’s not of particular concern to you, and you don’t mind planting yourself overnight (or for a few days) on a slice of concrete pavement albeit on a first-come, first-served basis in the middle of absolutely nowhere, then you could certainly do worse than Hurlburt Field FamCamp. Here, there’s some 48 RV sites with full hook-ups (30 / 50 amp electric, water and sewage) along with 10 or so primitive campsites.

There’s both a bathhouse and laundry facilities site onsite and each site has its own picnic table along with intermittent WiFi access. Registration only occurs once on-site, which from a business standpoint makes absolutely no sense to me – I mean why would I drive completely out of the way to this particular spot if I didn’t know that there was a spot that could be provided? This pretty much guarantees that whatever spot you do find here at pet-friendly Hurlburt Field FamCamp is ’bottom of the barrel’ and a ‘last resort’ when you can’t find anything else better … or cheaper. And I have to admit, for a few bucks more, you can CERTAINLY find better than this nearby that puts you directly on the Gulf of Mexico.

So that likely helps us arrive to the most obvious consideration – if you are here for whatever reason – to be closely connected to those within the nearby Air Force Base, then great, you’ve not only found your location, but likely, you’ve found your peeps who are here for the same reason. But if you are simply vacationing and looking for an amazing spot to ‘call home’ for the night, then you should mosey on and look for another spot (and around here, there are SO MANY to choose from). But if you’re not, and simply looking for a spot that provides convenience, then you have it.

Insider’s tips? (1) Hurlburt, at best, is a quick and easy layover, but make no mistake about it, this is not a destination. The good news is, you don’t have to go much further in any direction to find many more suitable and attractive options; (2) There is zero privacy here wherein the circular RV parking lot is wide open, therefore you will have complete visibility to your neighbors, apart from the sliver of space that exists between each parked RV, so bear that in mind and bring hanging sheets or other means to create your own privacy if this is important to you; (3) Unless there is a good reason why you need to stay here, I would highly recommend actually making some amazing memories by checking out one of the campgrounds like The Hideaway Retreat nearer the beach, which offers not only fantastic views of and access to the Gulf, but additionally, much more space as well as an array of amenities; and (4) When you get to the bottom of your onboard fridge and / or just want to try out some good local fare, I highly recommend The Shack for some pretty amazing locally caught seafood. You’ll want to get here early though, especially on the weekends, as the place fills up fast and there’s always a long line out the door.

    Happy Camping!

    Super Fun Mud Park

We love Boggs! If you have 4 wheelers, sxs, mud trucks or even just a gas powered golf cart, come check this place out. RV Hookups, Cabins, primitive camping and Boondocking available. Bath house and showers are a little scary so I recommend bringing an equipped camper or renting a cabin with a bathroom. The cafe has yummy breakfast and serves standard concession food the rest of the day. They are not open until Saturday so plan accordingly. We love to boondock here. There are lots of spots in the woods. Boggs offers a variety of different mud terrains, but also boasts gorgeous wooded trail systems, lakes, swamps and even a cave you can explore. My 7yr old lives for this place and it’s wonderful to watch him unplug and explore the outdoors with us and his friends. If you’re looking for a ritzy weekend, this place isn’t for you, but if you’re looking for a muddy, good time and making great memories, bring the whole family out for an adventure they won’t soon forget! 10/10 recommend this place!

    Nice place, not the quietest.

The site was great. Nice and level no trash. Site was gravel as were most. A few sites are concrete. All spots have full hook ups with both 50, 30, and 20 amp outlets. The bathhouse and grounds were kept clean. Camp host was very nice. Located in dense woods so bugs can be an issue. There is a short trail to the river beach access. There is only 1 trash can and it’s small located in the center of all the sites, that being said the camp host drives around each morning to collect trash. Pet friendly, with a leash of course. Only back in sites, no pull through. Paved roads all the way to camp site. Also, near a Naval helicopter training facility so there is helicopter noise throughout the day and sometimes even into the night.
