Best RV Parks & Resorts near Jay, FL

Several RV parks serve the Jay area, including Milton-Gulf Pines KOA and Splash RV Resort & Waterpark, both offering full hookups for motorhome travelers. Avalon Landing RV Park in Milton provides 50-amp electrical connections, water, and sewer hookups on spacious sites suitable for larger RVs. Pensacola RV Park accommodates big rigs with concrete pads and full-service connections. Most parks maintain year-round operations with level sites designed for easy setup. "The sites were spacious and we didn't feel packed in like sardines, though some are at 90-degree angles making them challenging for larger RVs to navigate," one camper shared.

Within 30 miles of Jay, RV travelers find varying amenities across parks. Dump stations are available at most facilities, though Splash RV Resort lacks this service. Cell service quality varies throughout the region, with stronger signals near Milton and Pensacola. Pet policies generally permit animals but may include breed or size restrictions. Campground bathhouses maintain different cleanliness standards - a review noted "bathrooms are private and clean with good pressure and hot water" at Milton KOA. Highway proximity creates significant road noise at some locations, particularly those adjacent to Interstate 10. Reservation requirements increase during winter months when seasonal visitors occupy many available spaces.

Point A Park RV & Campground

    Peaceful and Clean

Point A Campground Andalusia, Alabama This is a nice campground with very nice camp hosts and clean bath houses. We did not notice any long term campers. We had full hookups, wifi, cable, a fire pit, and a nice concrete picnic table on a partially gravel and red dirt and partial asphalt unlevel site. Our site was $40 a night without any added fees. They only accept cash and check. No deposit was required!! We had a water view, but plenty are on the water. We had shade. They have several large pull through sites without a sewer. A lot of the other campers had their boats and trailers and it looked like they were enjoying fishing and tubing on the lake. Plenty of children were swimming in the water at the end of the pier. The campground is pet friendly. Andalusia is a quaint, small town that is a little over an hour north of the Florida Panhandle. We enjoyed the 4th of July parade and they have several good restaurants.

Military Park Pensacola Naval Air Station Oak Grove Park and Cottages

    Quiet

RV sites are concrete pads with full hook up (power, water, sewer, WiFi, and cable). Most sites are a little closer together than we are used to. No fire rings at the RV sites. Tent sites do have fire rings, but no power or water. Bathhouse is large and very clean. Laundry facilities available. There is a community center building with TV, tables, and fire ring that hosted a dirty Santa and nightly BYOB happy hours while we were there, as well as a NYE Party planned. Staff and camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to the Pensacola Lighthouse and National Naval Aviation Museum. Dog friendly beach right at the campground. They do not allow swimming at this beach, but still fun for letting the dog run, fishing, and hanging out. Swimming beach and pool are located at other areas of the base. Reservations are site type, not site specific, but after talking with the staff they said they’d try to accommodate site requests the best they could when making reservation.

    River's Edge RV Campground

    Almost perfect

This campground was almost perfect! We called ahead for reservations and used a discount membership program. We arrived around 4pm and were glad we had reservations because the park had no more open spots. Check in was quick and the office has a small camp store with some basic necessities, fishing supplies, and firewood. They also have propane. They have FHU sites, but our site (#24) was a back-in site with 30 amp and electric. There is a dump station. It was a mostly level and sandy. Our spot was great because it was at the end of the "cul-de-sac". The spaces are not uncomfortably close together. We did have a picnic table and fire ring. They do have WiFi, but it was not the greatest. The best reception we got with our Verizon cell service was about 2 bars of 3G! It made it difficult to get any work done. There is a laundry room ($1.50 for each machine). They had a pretty small playground with swings. They did have horseshoes and basketball. The clubhouse had a pool table, TV, puzzles, and books, but it was locked when we tried to check it out. They did offer free coffee in the morning in the clubhouse (which is the only reason we knew what was inside). They allow fishing on the bank and have a small boat launch for guests. The restroom/shower was fairly clean with plenty of hot water. There is only one shower stall and 2 toilets. You can lock the bathhouse door for privacy. We really enjoyed the setting with the big trees and the riverbank. The slow internet and low cell signal was the only downside for us personally. We made a day trip into Navarre Beach and Pensacola Beach. The weather was cool, windy, and overcast but we still enjoyed it.

*P.S. this campground is in Florida not Kansas

    Blackwater River State Park Campground

    Nice place, not the quietest.

The site was great. Nice and level no trash. Site was gravel as were most. A few sites are concrete. All spots have full hook ups with both 50, 30, and 20 amp outlets. The bathhouse and grounds were kept clean. Camp host was very nice. Located in dense woods so bugs can be an issue. There is a short trail to the river beach access. There is only 1 trash can and it’s small located in the center of all the sites, that being said the camp host drives around each morning to collect trash. Pet friendly, with a leash of course. Only back in sites, no pull through. Paved roads all the way to camp site. Also, near a Naval helicopter training facility so there is helicopter noise throughout the day and sometimes even into the night.

    Blackwater River State Park Campground

Canoe, kayak or float near this small, quiet campground

This small, meticulously maintained campground has 30 full hook up sites split evenly between Magnolia Circle and Titi Circle. My only minor complaints are that the usable site space is all on gravel (very small pieces so it should still be comfortable for tents) and some sites are too close to each other. I prefer a grassy area (and some privacy) with my campsite, but the gravel is better for drainage when it rains.

    Beautiful Setting With Nearby Trails

There are a couple short trails and a swimming beach at Juniper Lake, but I can't get excited about swimming in an area that has alligator warning signs on the trail along a marshy area near the lake. The Florida Trail for long distance hikers is nearby. The Blackwater Heritage State Trail is a paved trail you can access near Milton for biking, skateboarding, etc. It's 8 miles and then there's a 1.5 mile Military Heritage Trail that continues to a Naval Air Station, but then you'll have to turn around and return the same way.

    Canoeing, Kayaking and Tubing

Blackwater River is a popular location for these activities. We passed a rental place that had lots of rental equipment.

    Site Notes

    • See photos for site map as well as several site photos.

    • All sites are back in with gravel pads except for concrete on 5, 6 and 19.

    • All sites have a picnic table and fire ring on the gravel. There's green space/trees between most sites.

    • No separate tent pad but the gravel is small and should be ok for a tent if you have a sleeping pad.

    • Magnolia Circle: Sites 3 through 5 on Magnolia Circle back up to sites 16 and 17 on Titi Circle. That's a bit close for me, but no one was behind us. Sites 1/2 and 12/13 have no green space between them. I would avoid them unless you want to socialize with your neighbors.

    • Titi Circle: Just stay at 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 27 or 29 on the outside of the circle of you want some privacy. The other sites are too close to neighbors for my comfort.

    • You're not allowed to tie anything to trees. That seems to rule out hammocks but there's a clothesline between 2 posts; I guess you could fit one hammock.

    Amenities

    • Full hookup, i.e. electricity, water and sewer hookup, at all sites. Our site had 20, 30 and 50 amp outlets.

    • Super clean restrooms/showers are located between the two loops. Showers had good water pressure and hot water. Even the sinks had hot water.

    • Dump station

    • Instead of trash dumpsters, you're supposed to put your trash by your site post between 8 and 11 am. And there's a recycling barrel for aluminum on the way to the restroom.

    A Cozy Corner RV Lodge

    Quaint RV Park!

Easy check in online. FHU-some shade, level concrete pad, picnic table. Easily backed in our 40 ft Montana. Very clean bathrooms, didn’t use just looked. Washer and dryer, and nice dog park. Close to lots of stores and restaurants, 20-30 min from beaches depending on traffic. Some traffic noise, since it’s next to a main road.

Military Park Pensacola Naval Air Station Oak Grove Park and Cottages

    Our First FAMCAMP Stay

To get to Oak Grove use the West Gate via Blue Angel PKWY. If you come in the main gate, and don’t thoroughly know your way through the base, you can easily end up at the old Seabees gate area where there are blockade weaves that are not RV friendly.
We checked in at the little campground(CG) office at the entrance then backed in to site 25 with FHUs. We couldn’t find the cable connection so checked with the office. The nice lady working the office came over and looked all around the utilities post where the newly run cable is supposed to reside. She finally found it out front by the cement pad. We ran the cable under the trailer and the very wide variety of channels worked fine. This is an older CG with lots of trees so satellite would be iffy. This CG has it own entrance to the beach that did not have a lot of people traffic during our 5 nights stay. There are a combination of back-in and pull through sites with 50& 30 AMP service. The sites tend to be fairly close to each other. Several reviews state spacious sites, but compared to campgrounds we’ve stayed in, only a handful of sites such as deluxe sites 46-51 come close to spacious. The water pressure was very good plus we got 4 bars on Verizon. A bonus is that the CG is close to the Naval Aviation Museum and flight line where the Blue Angels launch and practice. We went out to the beach where we could see the Blue Angels practice on Tuesdays& Wednesdays when they are in town. After the regular duty day and on weekends the park was quiet. There are multiple trails and areas to walk your dog or ride your bike.

    Bear Lake Campground

    Weekend getaway

This place is great for a weekend getaway, it has new bathrooms with showers on location.

It has nice and easy hiking trails, one of the trails connects to Krul Lake which has a nice lake that you can swim in during the summer.

There is also a 6 mi loop for MTB, very easy route, good for the family and MTB beginners.

For tent camping it is great as well, you may camp near the lake away from the campground but you are from a walking distance of the bathrooms and hiking trails, there are two primitive sites on the north east side of the lake you can hike to it from the campground and it’s about a mile hike. You can drive to it but you have find the dirt road to it.

For RV/Camper, it was good, the pull through sites are better if you have a longer camper, the back in spots are a bit challenging to maneuver around especially if it is a busy weekend at the campground. They do have one dumping station on site.

You can fish on the lake too!

Overall the site is great for the family and friends.

North Karick Lake Campground — Blackwater River State Forest

    Peaceful place to relax.

All RV spots are back in, but easy access that include water and electric. There is a central RV dump station at the exit. There is also a shower house on site. Well maintained with park host on site to address any issues. The lake was drained in 2017 for a full renovation and to improve the fish habitat. The campground is pet friendly, and a very nice place to relax, unwind, and enjoy nature.
