Best RV Parks & Resorts near Unionville, CT

Nice quiet campground. Outdoor pool, horseshoes, mini golf, outdated playground, Washer/dryers, game room. Nice store with good prices. Check-in 2pm & checkout 10am. Seemed to be about 75% seasonal sights. Full RV hookups with 50 & 30amp services. 3 different types & sizes of rental cabins.

We love this KOA! I recommend if you were in the area to stop here and spend some time with Michael and his staff. There are plenty activities for everybody. They have a fire truck ride that brings you around the campsite and hay-less rides. There is a pool there is a playground there are games of all ages. If you’re in the area I recommend to stay they have 10 sites up to the large rigs with full hook ups.

Well-maintained campsite. Many of the sites were secluded. The role we were in was not shaded and the campsites were close together. Maybe because we had full hook ups.

We came to discover new bike trails and this one was close to the Hop bike trail which we enjoyed very much

Well organized campground with both water front back in sites as well as large pull throughs. Pull through sites also have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are on top of the neighbors. Sites and roads are a pea gravel material and each site has large grassy areas around it. It was a quiet area with ponds and creeks and a generally relaxing setting. It has a clean playground and well maintained pool as well as some walking paths, large grassy areas, pavilion and volleyball court. All sites but one (#67) are full hook up. Some seasonal sites but all were tasteful and not trashy looking. We enjoyed the shade trees on our site (#3) and noticed many sites had similar trees, but the owner keeps them trimmed to not interfere when parking on your site. There is also a creek area for dog swimming. Our two labs loved it! Local kayaking areas and about 30 min to Foxwoods Casino, even closer to Mohegan Sun. Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium are also not too far. Nearby (5min drive) is also a fun looking place for mini golf. Will definitely be back!

We had really high hopes for this place based on all the glowing reviews, but boy were we disappointed. We pulled in and quickly learned that there must have been a weeks worth of dog poop all over our site. I had gone to the camp store to ask if they had a shovel to help me clean everything up, but they didn’t. My husband and I spent 35 minutes instead of setting up, picking up someone else’s dogs waste. Despite our efforts of clean up, we still couldn’t figure out the smell. Turns out, their dogs had also went all over the rocks and ledges leading to the stream.

We then noticed that our picnic table was less than a foot from our neighbors leaking septic dump and hose, which might have contributed to the rancid smell.

Live and learn right? We will just eat inside, but then we noticed that our fire pit was 6” away from the corner of our neighbors older motor home, which had exposed wood. While the friendly woman at the camp store encouraged us to have a fire anyways, (two of our planned meals required the fire) we opted not to, since we noticed cigarette butts and what was more dog waste in the fire pit itself.

We ended up really testing out the inside of our trailer, eating, hanging out, watching tv - not something we wanted to do this weekend. Luckily we had a scented candle stashed in the camper, so we closed up the windows and tent ends and tried to make the best of this. While the full hook ups were nice, it definitely wasn’t worth the smell or energy.

What saved the trip was the beautiful area and the awesome hiking trails.

Everyone was friendly despite the lack of maintenance and sanitary measures provided by the campground, and I do have to say it was nice and quiet all weekend, but maybe that was just because we were hauled up inside our camper. You can’t win them all, I think we will definitely be sticking to state campgrounds and forests... I’m really hoping we just got a bad site on an off weekend... :(

Most amazing weekend with tons of woods (privacy is huge for us). Very friendly guests and staff! Amazing weekend with lots of fun for the kids and even the dogs! We’ve been to campgrounds with playgrounds worse than the waters edge dog park. Every one of us had a great time with the perfect campsite deep in the woods (still able to park my 26’ camper trailer). Swimming pool, great playground, among lots of trails and wooded area surrounding almost every site. Best camping weekends we’ve ever had have been at Waters Edge.

We generally only stay in KOAs or similar RV parks when we need showers, laundry, or a dump station. This one was in a convenient location plus many campgrounds had not yet opened for the year when we were there. It had rained for a few days before our arrival and that did not help our first impression as we drove on the rutted and muddy road to our site. There was a sign that improvements are underway, but I am not sure what those planned improvements are and when they will be implemented.

On the plus side:

*Friendly and helpful staff. Not sure why when we are given a map an employee escorts us to our site but that is a KOA thing. Later an employee asked if I wanted help carrying our clothes to the laundry.

* Warm showers (but it did take a while for the water to get warm)

*Brand new pool that was uncovered but it was way too cold in April to use*Sites were spaced a decent amount of space apart (although there is little physical separation). This was helped by the fact that there was no one on either side of us during our stay.

*In season, there are many activities to occupy families (pool, playground, mini golf, daily firetruck rides, complimentary shuttle into the town of Niantic); however, we could not take advantage of most of these.

*Reasonably priced laundry, although the washing machines were smal, and it took two to do what should have been one load. However, the dryers give you 60 minutes so although it took longer to dry, I only had to use one. 

On the negative side:

*Unmaintained roadways. The main one was once paved but has not been maintained; others were dirt (and mud after a rain)

*High price for what we received. Not sure if we received an off-season rate but at $87 per night for a water/electric site and not being able to take advantage of amenities seemed high.

*Allowing political flags to be displayed at sites. I understand that on private property, this can be allowed at the owner's discretion, but this was offensive to us. 

Again, this is not our preferred type of camping. Initially, I struggled to give this two stars but once the rain stopped, our stay improved somewhat.

Close to 84, so a convenient one night stop for us. The hosts are nice and helpful. The pond is warm water and seemed clean enough. The beach had several canoes and kayaks free for guests to use. We enjoyed paddling around. The campground is kind if a random mix of full time, seasonal, and overnight people. There aren't any real private spots for rvs or trailers, but a few tent spots looked nice. Some of the full time/seasonal campers looked shady, and the trash dumpsters were overflowing significantly. Some of the seasonal spots on the lake were really nice though, with docks even. The camp store is large with plenty of stuff. There are horshoe pits and a basketball court as well. Our site was right on the pond and playground, which was nice, but had no privacy or shade. The place has a pleasant feel despite some imperfections.

Let me just start off by saying we did stay at the end of the season so the campground was quiet… But this is a stunning park and totally worth a stop if you’re traveling via hwy 84! They had such great customer service and the amenities are on point. 2 separate ponds: one for fishing, one for swimming; large outdoor games; Rec hall with video games, 50¢ pool table, live music; volleyball; boat rentals; and even a baseball diamond! (We picture kickball more than baseball happening here) Facilities were east to use and clean. Sites were wide open and easy to access, my only complaint being that they offer “full hookups” but you’re told to just leave your grey tanks open. We chose to wait and dump on our way out. If you’re a pet owner, you’ll absolutely love the dog run!

This place isn’t a camp ground it’s a parking lot for RVs. I’ve seen more separation between campers on RV dealer lots. There are so many golf carts racing around kids can’t even ride bikes. It’s camping and kids can’t ride bikes safely. The pool for a campground this size is VASTLY undersized. They made the roads so narrow to squeeze in so many sites, it’s almost impossible to navigate an rv through, even for experienced rvers. The sheer armada of golf carts constantly going up and down the road make you feel like you’re camping on a highway instead of in nature. The constant sound reminds me of being near the antique car ride all day long at a theme park. My kids were almost hit on their bikes twice by golf carts and the actual cars FLY on the roads. This was definitely a one and done trip for us.

My husband I camped here for a weekend getaway and we wanted hookups being it was Columbus Day Weekend. This is a parking lot with grass. The Men’s room was so disgusting that my husband refused to use it, actually he couldn’t ( there is a camper who is a dirty bird) which is not a good first impression. This is a residential park with older travel trailer residences. There was a nice back field area. The shower houses and toilets are very dated. I like to proximity to the city of North Hampton. We had great meals in town. The staff here is great, the other campers were nice. They had a Halloween/trick or treat night, fire truck rides it’s very kid friendly. We didn’t like being right on top the other rvs, our sewer pipe was in front of my neighbors picnic table. There was 30/50 amps, water and electric and WiFi! This campground is “in the country” plenty is sightseeing and hiking opportunities in the area.

This is a large seasonal oriented campground. The staff was not well trained and or not oriented to short term campers. There was no WiFi service as advertised and cell service was poor. Sites are close together. The whole campground was dominated by seasonal campers. There was not full service sewer hook up, only gray water. There was a dump station.

Very neat and clean, open, and quiet. Firewood $5 a bundle, pumpout $25, water, electric, gray water hookup, $63.

I’m more of a quite, in-the-middle-of-nowhere kind of camper, so I tend to shy away from commercial campgrounds, but it was easier for me to commute from the KOA than from home when work was crazy because of COVID and I stayed for a few months- July til October. It is a nice campground, no complaints. I was in the seasonal section, which has some interesting folks staying there. The site was very nice and felt private. I like the reliability of KOAs, and I pretty know what I’m going to get when I book.
