South Fork Lodge & RV Park, located about 20 miles west of Del Norte, operates seasonally from mid-May through October with spacious sites that include full hookups. Ute Bluff Lodge in South Fork features both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical sites with water and sewer connections, operating May through October. Dump stations are available at most facilities, though Grandview RV Resort and several others have reported limited or no sanitary dump access on-site. Cell service varies significantly throughout the mountainous terrain—Verizon coverage is generally reliable at Ute Bluff Lodge according to reviews. We lucked on a pull through spot without reservations, very friendly office crew drove us to the spot. Full hookups & Wi-Fi. Right on the river with benches spread out to enjoy the scenery. Small little pond people were fishing not many catching. The sites are pretty close together but do come with picnic table and fire ring. Very close to town fun little place

The Last Resort RV Park & Campground

    Very peaceful, beautiful location

The Last Resort RV park  is hidden into a very peaceful valley. They are open year round and have River side spots for those under 26 feet long and some very large pull through spots with lots of space. No Verizon cell service and very poor Wifi.  If you truly enjoy your peace and quiet  this is the spot for you. Staff is very friendly.

    Woods & River RV Park

Beautiful setting on Rio Grande River with walking trails and large RV spot

WE LOVED OUR TRIP TO THIS RV PARK.  NESTLED ON THE RIO GRANDE RIVER AND PLENTY OF LARGE COTTONWOOD TREES PROVIDING SHADE AND A REPRIEVE FROM THE WARM AFTERNOON SUN.  LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM DEL NORTE WITH SHOPS AND DELICIOUS MICRO BREWERY AND MICRO BAKERY (WHICH OPENED THE DAY WE ARRIVED).  HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOR FAMILIES AND PETS.

PLAYGROUND FOR KIDS HAS A FUN ZIPLINE AND LOTS OF TRAILS TO WALK THE DOGS.

    West Fork Dispersed

    Amazing dispersed camping

After crossing the bridge there are 4 sites, 2 on the left 2 on the right. Left 2 sites are blocked by fallen trees but can be crawled over with the right rig. First campsite on the right is the best one. Several fire pits, river access and wide area for big rigs. Enjoy!

    Thirty Mile

    Amazing stay. Great Stargazing

Campground closed on sept. 6th, all facilities closed. River access from most campsites, some are back in, some pull through, and some walk to site. Amphitheater, loads of toilets, water points, and sink/disposal water points. Great stargazing and access to the river for fishing. Loads of hunters in October and lots of wildlife to see!

    Del Norte City Park

    Only One Night Stay Allowed

This is an interesting spot to stay the night. It is right on the river and there are 1-5 sites with a playground, bathrooms, bbq pit, and a dump station. I'm not sure who takes care of this park but they have done a great job!

It is not pet friendly so keep them on a leash and walk them off property.

It is a free site but you can only stay 1 night max. It is not for tents but it will fit RV's and campervans just fine. Maximum RV length is 35 feet.

The best thing about this site is that it is within walking distance of Three Barrel Brewing Company! Excellent beer and a legit pizza oven!

    Cimarrona Campground

    Pretty Location

Stayed at site #20 in early June. Elevation around 8400 feet. Beautiful Spring green foliage on the aspens. Clean vault toilets with tp. One potable water station with hand pump. No water & electric hook ups.  There is also trash service in-season. The host, Mike, was very helpful. Firewood for sale at $8/bundle. The campground consists of a handful of sites in an open field, suitable for big rigs, with the remainder of the sites back in the woods which are more suitable to tent, van, car & truck campers. Each site has a metal fire ring and table. Some of the sites in the woods are on a slight slope. Beautiful views of nearby mountains & meadow. Cimarrona Creek runs along side of the campground; fishing doesn't appear to be good in it. Fishing is better south of Williams Creek Reservoir - about 5 miles away. The Cimarrona trail head is behind site #18; this trail leads up into the Weminuche Wilderness area.

Guide to Del Norte

Mountain views: The surrounding landscape draws visitors to RV parks. At Grandview Cabins and RV, campers enjoy the "Nice campground and super hosts! RV park is well maintained with big areas for dogs to play."

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most Del Norte RV parks close for winter. Ute Bluff Lodge operates "May 1 - Oct 31" according to their listing information.

Elevation effects: The high elevation means significant temperature swings between day and night, even in summer.

Train noise: Some campgrounds experience railway disruptions. A camper at Cool Sunshine RV Park in nearby Alamosa warned, "Come prepared, it is in the middle of downtown so a lot of traffic noise of loud cars racing down the road and it is right next to the railroad tracks. The train whistle is deafening and will rattle your teeth."

Utility considerations: Hot water systems can be affected by natural springs. One camper observed at Sand Dunes Recreation, "One funny thing is if you have an rv and hook up to the water, it is fed from the hot springs so the water is always very warm."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Woods & River RV Park includes playground facilities. A camper noted, "Fun kids area with playground and treehouse with zip line. Office was accommodating and let us arrival after posted hours with an easy phone call."

Swimming options: Sand Dunes Recreation offers family swimming facilities. "The pools are extremely kid friendly, and there are greenhouses with 21+ soaking and bar," mentioned one visitor.

Cabin alternatives: For families without camping gear, Chinook Cabins & RV Park provides accommodations. "We have stayed here on a few occasions and have loved it every time. The cabins are nice but definitely not luxurious. Kids can ride bikes around the property. There is a basketball hoop and tether ball."

Weather preparation: Families should prepare for afternoon storms common in the mountains during summer months.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing: RV site proximity varies between parks. A Cool Sunshine RV Park visitor noted, "Sites are very close to eachother. WiFi was not super reliable."

Cell coverage: Mobile service varies throughout the area. At Grandview Cabins and RV, one camper mentioned, "ATT Cell phone coverage sporadic."

Hookup locations: Some parks have unusual utility placement. At Woods & River RV Park, a camper observed, "Hookups are new but all seem to be placed too far up which requires you to pull your trailer to the end of the site to align hookups; otherwise you will need to run lengths of sewer and electric to connect."

Reservation timing: Many RV parks Del Norte and surrounding areas require advance booking during peak months from June through September.
