      Hidden Gem

We stayed here Thursday through Monday over Labor Day Weekend. It is in an absolutely beautiful spot and the campground is kept immaculately. It is right on the river so my husband was happy to be able to fish right behind our RV. We stayed in#33 which is on the end so we had more privacy and room. It was a concrete pad so easy to level and fire pits were great. They have everything you could think of-ninja lines, playset, zip line, hammocks, jenga, frisbee golf, etc. There were tons of kids that had a huge time. Mine loved it! There is a trail to hike up to a beautiful meadow. They have a general store/liquor store on site with a really good selection of items. We were able to make a short drive to Black Canyon National Park as well as some really nice local produce stops. The town of Hotchkiss is 15 mins away and has propane/restaurants/etc. Highly recommend staying here.

      Perfect camp spot

Where Rd 4 and Rd 5 Y, there is a dirt road straight ahead. We took the third road, followed it to another Y and took the left. There are several sites along the boundary line. Nearest neighbor was more than 500 yards away. Fantastic scenery and very quiet.

      Not far off of I70

This was a great stay I stayed at spot #2, pitched a tent and really enjoyed it. They had a fire ring. Also you can hear the creek down below the entire night which was quite peaceful. It was only 10 minutes off of I70 which made it nice for traveling. I have Google FI wireless and had no connectivity..

Beautiful views, easy access with 30 ft TT. Water stream with lots of beaver dams. Great for riding our ebikes. Saw squirrels, deer, one moose, skunk (no spray), a couple prong horn sheep, eagle, endless beauty. Make sure you have full water supply Camp host Stanley is a great guy!

      Weller Campground

Not bad for what it is

I couldn’t get into a campground closer to Aspen as I left, so when this appeared I took it.

There are 11 sites and only three of us were there, so it didn’t feel crowded at all.

All the sites are tucked in among the aspens on a hillside. Bear boxes & fire pits. There’s a hand water pump for water, and there I one privy with two pit toilets. No campground host.

When I had earlier checked online for spots at nearby camping literally nothing was available. So I was happy to get this one.

Would I stop here again? Absolutely. Would I make this a destination? Not really.

      For the boaters

This campground has a boat ramp close by and trail access. There is everything from fishing to boating to hiking. Area was quiet during the week but weekends would be pretty busy. Lots of shade and beautiful views.

Very busy but nice if you find a spot

It was mildly off roady getting to the camping area. It seems you can just pull off into the areas that are worn down to camp. People were cramped and close to each other for this campground! Didn’t see any toilets but there are good hikes right nearby.

      Beautiful and peaceful

This is a great campground - the lake is beautiful and there are several trails that leave from here. Friendly hosts and clean / well maintained! We arrived midday on a Saturday in late August and there were still several open sites, plus there are a handful of dispersed sites along the road in which were all empty.

Beautiful camping near some great hiking

This was our first camping trip ever, after 26 years of hiking in Colorado!

We had a family across the road, but they were quiet. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Mosquitos were annoying but we controlled them with a Thermacell.

So nice to just get up and have breakfast and hike.  We can't wait to get back out again.

      Twin Lakes Dispersed

      Nice, spacious, close to lake

We got here yesterday. The roads weren't too too bad to get here. Definitely drove really slow. Have a Honda HRV and did fine. There are a TON of spots, some of them not accessable with cars but there definitely are a lot that are. I have noticed quite a bit of trash when I go to the bathroom in the back areas. It's gross and wish people would pack out their TP. Have had at least 2 neighbors the entire time but it wasn't bad. Other people are at further away sites so it is busy. Overall sites are roomy, clean and comfortable.

Best view in all the US

I will say that views of creste butte rival any spots I have camped at in Az, Montana, Utah or Wyoming. I would rate this place is 1 of the best camping views in all of the US that you can get your car too.

      Dark Canyon Trailhead (Dispersed)

      Not Dispersed

Not an actual site. Pin took me to a feild with horse/cows (pics attached for cuteness). The actual site is in the campground on Google Maps, but IT ISNT ALLOWED!!!

VERY CLEARLY SIGNED CAMPING IN CAMPGROUND SITES ONLY!!!

There is a small fire ring by the trailhead, as description says, but the signs on the road are VERY clear. Also lots of rangers patrolling, so don't risk it!!

So, unless you wanna pay a RIDICULOUS fee for a night, not worth it at all. Would've given it one mark, but figured someone later might find a touch of value.

      Twin Peaks Dispersed Campground- Colorado

      Colorado favorite!

Twin Lakes, outside of Leadville, is one of my go to spots within a few hours of Lone Tree (Denver). While not true Alpine Lakes, the twins have crisp, clear water great for fishing, kayaking, Paddleboarding, and, if you’re brave enough, swimming! Even better, visit and walk into the old Interlocken Hotel down a short hike along the lakes, following either the Continental Divide Trail or the Colorado Trail.

Not too far outside Crested Butt CO. (About 25 mins) The road is ok , but not great getting there.  Campsites and view of the mountain range is great. Peaceful area but some traffic on the road coming in and it free range area for cows. Always a few walking around. Some sites are in open area and some sites are under the trees. Would stay there again. A few disbursed campgrounds in the area.

      Multiple spot per marker

I stayed in the main WG dispersed area just before the "Narrow & Steep" road sign an that appears to be the divider between WG & WG2. WG2 has more spread out locations, and there are multiple RV spots within the single sign posts. It's best to go inspect them on foot as some are on steep hills.  No cows in the WG2 area.

      Good campsite, a little outdated

      Pure perfection!

Wow, this place is something special! It's so amazing that part of me wants to keep it a secret...

First off, paddle boarding here is an absolute dream. We brought our own SUPs, and I'm so glad we did because the water is just perfect. The beach is fantastic for lounging around and soaking up the sun. There was even a group that brought a net for sand volleyball!

The trail that goes around Turquoise Lake is also perfect for mountain biking or a nice nature walk. The views are spectacular, and it's a great way to explore the area. We stayed at campsite 5, and it was amazing. Being a mere 50 steps from the water was pure bliss. Honestly, this campsite was perfection. I can't wait to come back again and again.

      Beautiful and well spaced sites

This is a review for the actual campground. As another review mentioned, there are dispersed sites up the road and many are nice but I stayed at the campground. There is a stream on one side of the campground and most of the sites are on that side of the loop. The sound is wonderful to sleep to. On the other side of the loop is where I stayed because the view was incredible. The camp host was great, everything was clean and well cared for and there was plenty of space between the sites so it didn't feel cramped. This is a first come first served campground.

      Mosquito Alley

Absolutely beautiful views but beware of the mosquitos! Do not come here without a net or a lb of bug spray. It was also extremely packed on a Monday so if you want a spot get there early. You will more than likely be side by side with someone but that didn’t bother me too much.
