Hideout Cabins and Campground

We were looking for a place to camp near Glenwood Springs, but far enough off 70 to avoid the freeway noise. This is a sweet little campground located along the edge of the canyon, south of downtown Glenwood Springs. We arrived in a downpour with thunder, lightening and hail! We were grateful for the easy access to water, electricity and clean bathrooms and showers. The storm flooded I-70 near Silt and closed the road - with a detour on route 6.

Although a relatively large campground, there are only a few sites available with hookups or for tent camping. Most sites provide permanent housing for locals. Since many residents get up early for work, it is a quiet place to stay.

There is a dog park, clubhouse with laundry, coffee and other amenities.

Got a tent site for a van. Nice shaded spots. Bathrooms are nice. Not host on site, all online. Not a big deal but the showers did have lots of bugs. I stepped on an earwig in the shower I was in & my boyfriend said there was three, huge spiders in the shower he was in. So just double check before you shower that you killed all the bugs.

I've been coming to Glenwood Springs for my whole life. Not once did I know this place existed so it's definitely a Hideout! It's just far enough off the roadway you don't hear cars unless you truly concentrate. Nicely spread out spots and plenty of different kinds to choose from too from cabins, RV, and tents.

Hot water, toilets, showers, everything someone could need.

Rolled into Glenwood Springs late afternoon and needed a spot for our two teardrops. Wanted to be close to the downtown area. I met Erin, the manager, outside the Hideout's office and asked if she had space. She said that the sites she would normally direct us to were close to a new bathhouse that was under construction. We checked out the sites and I told that the construction didn't bother us. Done deal. Our site was one of four that was right on the creek running through the property. Erin was great to deal with and The Hideout is a place you should check out.

Arrived after hours. No passwords posted. Called number provided… someone answered. Said I RCVD “a long email & password was @ the bottom of email” ??. Did not receive an email period from this campsite. Was given the password & “if that doesn’t work try this one” neither worked. Via my smart TV or iPhone. I give up. Never again.
