Upper Colorado River BLM Dispersed

DYRT pointed us to a rest stop but signage clearly says no overnight parking. This spot filled the bill for an overnight. Just off freeway I-70, large gravel lot high up over the Colorado River. Beautiful vistas and free to stay on BLM land.

This is just a big gravel parking lot but it overlooks the Colorado River and some dry, pretty mountains. It's only 15 minutes to the Vail/Eagle airport and a couple minutes off of the interstate. A train went by earlier but no horn. BTW, there is free RV dump and water station at the rest area in Eagle.

I was planning to stay at a rest area down the way, but it was super loud and also a bit iffy on whether over night stays were allowed. Decided to come check this place out and so glad I did.

Beautiful views. A train weaving past. The river below. Saw an eagle and osprey.

Three other RVs up here when I arrived and not really room for much more. Someone came in the night and set up a tent below. Super close to the highway, so some noise.

My friend and I were trying to escape a mid April snowstorm near Moab, Utah. We came as far as this spot, and still didn’t escape :( It was a nice quick pull off the road though, and the views aren’t half bad!

Obviously, if you’re tent camping (like we were) I wouldn’t really recommend this spot for any reason other than a one night stopover on your way to Denver or wherever else you’re headed. There is no soft ground to pitch a tent, you’re right off the highway, and the frontage road itself was fairly busy even at night. Does seem like there’s a couple trials to be found around here and I even saw a raft in the river so that might be available as well!

Little noisy but that’s never bothered me. Great view. Just pulled off cause the sun was setting but I’m happy I did

Convenient spot right off of I70. It’s really just a dirt parking area, but good enough for an overnight stop! We pulled in after 11:00 PM. It was dark! There were a few other cars spread about. We had our pop up camper, and we were able to find a level spot and set up to get a few hours of sleep. Left around 5:30 AM, and it was still dark out, so didn’t really get to see the view of the river, and didn’t get any pics. The area was fairly quiet, other than the train that went by.

Dirt lot as others stated but far enough off the interstate to be quiet. Good view of Colorado River. Train track on other side of the river, but no intersections so no horns blasting.

Dirt pull off from highway. Road noise. A few level spots. Only stayed overnight. If I can through again, I’d be more likely to stay at a rest stop.

That said, a decent view of a river.

Right off the road, quiet, flat, a few other campers, it was clean and free. 5g was good

Great views overlooking the Colorado River. It is an open area with some flat spots and some areas requiring leveling. Can handle big rigs, but space is limited.
