Mesa Campground

Just off Highway 50 west of Gunnison, Mesa Campground sits on relatively open terrain with a mix of forested and cleared areas. The private RV park operates as both an overnight and seasonal facility, with sites that vary considerably in size and spacing.

Site density creates tight quarters in many areas. Multiple campers note the cramped conditions, with some vehicles extending into roadways due to narrow lot dimensions. The campground does offer full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like showers and a dump station. WiFi reaches most areas, though upload speeds can be limited for video calls or heavy data use.

Highway proximity keeps road noise present but not overwhelming during most hours. Staff receives consistent praise for helpfulness, and the facility maintains basic cleanliness standards. Kathy D. describes it as "fairly clean but nothing fancy." Cellular coverage varies significantly by carrier, with most networks providing adequate download speeds but struggling with uploads.

The location works well as a staging point for exploring campsites around Gunnison, though campers wanting more space might consider Hartman Rocks McCabe Entrance — BLM Dispersed (M6) for a different camping experience.

Campers regularly cited helpful staff and excellent WiFi as highlights. However, a common theme was extremely cramped site spacing that left many feeling packed too tightly. Cellular connectivity issues were also noted.

Small Right

Packed like sardines. Truly one of the worst places we have ever stayed as far as SPACE. There are some larger spaces but very few. Our vehicle is parked in the road The wifi they offer is great, but it is hard to give them a higher rating. Ither than the space issue, its fine for a couple nights..

Packed in TIGHT!!

Seriously one of the tightest Campgrounds we have ever been to. Literally packed in like sardines. The Wi-Fi is great, and that helps... some.

Nice location Narrow lots Data upload bad

Good location. Nice staff. Lots a tad narrow. Fairly quiet, not much highway noise even though just off 50.

Data. Another story Camp WiFi. Had to take phone outside to pick it up. 1 meg down, sub 1 meg up. All my data sucked at uploading- ALL under 1 meg except one at 1.5. Download adequate to stream, but not enough upload to zoom-call. And I had Mofi4500 and WeBoost

Tested Cricket ATT prepaid Visible Verizon T-Mobile 5G hotspot (ran 4G mode) Would have stayed longer if I had better data upload speeds
