Cement Creek Campground

The Cement Creek area primarily features the established Cement Creek Campground rather than designated dispersed camping sites. The campground itself is located about 3 miles down a dirt road from South Crested Butte. For true dispersed camping options, you'll want to explore other areas around Crested Butte. Always check with the local Forest Service office for current regulations regarding dispersed camping in the broader region, as rules may change seasonally.

Cement Creek Campground offers basic amenities including two pit toilets/outhouses, tent pads, and fire rings. There is a camp host on-site who collects fees and sells firewood. The campground features 11-13 sites, some positioned nicely along the creek for ambient white noise. A dumpster is available for trash disposal. Note that the campground has no electricity or running water (the creek is the only water source nearby), making it more suitable for primitive camping experiences.

From Crested Butte, head toward South Crested Butte and continue past it onto the dirt road that leads to Cement Creek Campground. The campground is approximately 3 miles down this unpaved road. While the road is described as rough in some sections, a 4WD vehicle is not necessarily required under normal conditions. The total drive from Crested Butte is relatively short, making it convenient for day trips into town while staying at the campground.

Cement Creek Campground does not have showers available. It's a primitive campground with only pit toilets and no running water facilities. Most public campgrounds around Crested Butte similarly lack shower facilities as they tend to be more rustic in nature. For showering options, consider looking into campgrounds with more developed facilities further from town, using facilities in Crested Butte itself, or planning accordingly with solar showers or other portable options for your camping trip.
