Best Campgrounds near Wittmann, AZ

The Bloody Bath access road was an easy drive (F250 SD with a truck camper). Washboards were easy to navigate but watch your speed on the down hill turns. We initially selected the site closest to Bloody Bath Road but decided to move further back to a site about a 1/4 mile in. The road (trail) back to the final site was a bit washed out (dry) with some deep ruts but again easily navigated in our truck. A 2WD Van or a SUV could easily access the site. The site was quiet. The biggest bummer was the amount of trash and empty beer cans strewn around the site. Real bummer.

Great secluded campgrounds the best camp spot is 11 and 12 however it is kind of dirty people do leave things and don't take things to the garbage other than that it's a great place to fish to camp and not have a whole lot of people there there is no cell service so you're off the grid.

Lots of camping spots before and after this specific location. Camping spots are spread out. You can see about 20 miles of I-10 from this area. Power substation have bright lights on all night but I would camp there again.

Too rocky for us to drive into. You may want to pull along the main road and walk in to see the conditions. There are several places to drive in, so pick the one that looks the best to you and your rig. Just saying...

Excellent... Lots of room, flat, and just off a paved road. This is better than the wild camping we found up in Wickenburg. Yes, there are signs here that you need to have an Arizona Trust Land Permit, but you get it online for$16. If you need to dump and/or get fresh water Wickenburg is just miles up the road and the Fast Mart Chevron station has two stations for this, plus propane. We paid$15 to dump and the potable water fill up was included. Wickenburg is surprising and has all the services, grocery, etc... you would need.

Super easy access. I am in a 20 foot long Van with an 11 foot trailer attached.

Site is flat dirt/light gravel.

I am here to ride a dirt bike from Colorado it's nice to be close to an OHV trails.

Beautiful campsite, first camping trip with our new travel trailer and this was great first spot! Dirt rad was a little bumpy but actual campsite was easy to get to

Road is in pretty decent shape for my camper van. The area was fairly busy when I was there so had to drive in a couple miles more than I wanted. Sites are nicely spaced though so it's not like some areas where everyone is in a big lot. Also since further in, didn't notice the highway noise like some mentioned.

Would not stay again. Park is easy to find, very clean and well kept. Lots of mobile homes with an area for rv’s. Sights are very tight and very close together. Slides almost touch one another. The older lady in the office was not welcoming, or friendly. I called twice to get a confirmation and never did get one. The park is set up on just too close together. Would not recommend or stay there again!

Great camping with tons of off-roading nearby.

This spot is the nice one on the road. The drive is easy but becomes unmaintained a couple if miles down the road. The pics you see in this listing are not the spot. There are couple of nice rock formations at the site. Although close to the road the natural direction of the breeze blows it away from you. For example, over 20 dune buggy/razor type ORV drove by and kicked up a lot of dust just 30 feet from where I was standing and it all blew south away from me.

The stars are bright and this is worth the drive. Other sites can be seen, however, the distance apart is great enough that you cannot hear them so no concerns about generators, music, or loud parties keeping you awake.

Details: No water, trash, or toilets Sites spread out by hundreds of yards Town is 20-40 minutes away (depending on your site location) but it has everything Free stay. Like most of the federal land there is a 14 day limit, however, there are people living out here soooo.

Amazing campsite setting nestled against the Saddle Mountains. Beautiful Sunsets & Sunrises. Stargazing is spectacular. You won't regret it!

Pros: The views are absolutely beautiful, sites are spaced out, quiet and clean, most roads almost any car can make it there are a few that requires a truck.

Cons: Flies are horrendous out here, no matter what you try to do to keep them away or out it’s almost impossible to do!

Parked here last two years, 6 months at at time over winter. Quiet, spacious, close to water, stores, lake pleasant. If you drive to the back, off new river road, you can find less people and traffic.

So thankful for this desert and the solitude it brought. The further off carefree you get, the more solitude you’ll find. It’s been pretty windy (25-30mph gusts) which causes a lot of dust but it’s gorgeous and warm during the day, even in January. Recommend black canyon city for laundry and hiked on the black canyon trail. Shell by this spot is pricey so make sure to get some stuff at Walmart in Anthem or somewhere else, however the shell is super convenient when in a pickle. Tons of stuff within 15-20 minutes such as groceries, shooting ranges, hiking, trails for the ATV/offroaders. I’d definitely visit again and recommend it. Also, great AT&T service, was able to work off hotspot from Tues-Friday with no incidence.

It’s gorgeous. Not very many spots but love being right by the river. With this being said it’s tucked in there by the mountains so it gets colder than desert overnight and has wildlife around plus little to no service for AT&T. However, if I didn’t need service this would’ve been perfect since my dog loves the water.

We stayed at the Willow Campground for two nights while visiting family and friends in the Surprise area. Hiked the Waterfall and Black Loop Trail for a little exercise as well. Didn’t do any others as our dog had an encounter with a stray cholla ball. This would be the only concern for those traveling with pets. There are quite a few lose even along trails. Other than that the facilities are clean and well kept. Fresh water and showers are available.

Stayed 3 nights. Easy access to/from town, recently graded road as of this writing, and (kind of) level sites. Quiet during the winter season at least and plenty of wildlife. Like most dispersed camping, kooks leave trash everywhere.
