      Point Mallard City Campground

Only a small area is for short term , no wifi

No wifi per office with no known date of repair. Relatively quiet, lots of vehicle traffic and golf carts. Office staff is very helpful and friendly. Majority of park is longterm. Dog friendly, no dog park at location. Close to shopping but far enough away for quiet.

      Perfect for a night

There's a fire pit, cornhole, showers are included, two dog parks and half a basketball court. There is a small trail that circles the whole campground.

      Bama Campground & RV Park

Great campground to hike Bankhead National Forest

This is a great little campground tucked away on the edge of Bankhead National Forest. The location of the campground makes it an excellent location to enjoy the numerous waterfall hikes in the area. The campground was laid out well with spacious gravel sites and full hookups. Sites 2-4 had good views of the pond/field, sites 10-15 backed up to the tree line to provide a little shade all other sites had full sun. The camp host was super friendly and helpful. They have a general store, laundry, bathhouse, and small dog park. The campground has hiking trails on the property if you don’t have time to visit Bankhead NF. If you’re in the area or wanting to spend time in Bankhead NF I’d recommend checking this campground out.

Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground

      Parking lot

This is your typical military PCS campground for people in transit. No shade! Cement pads to park on. A laundry room, pavilion and showerhouse. There is a dog park and you are off the beaten path. Which makes it a little difficult to find the first time. But when you do your like “Duh! It was right here.” So useful for an overnight if you have a military/retired ID.

      Lake Guntersville State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park, something for everyone!

Visited Lake Guntersville State Park, for the day. After taking our granddaughter to Screaming Eagle Zip-line Adventures, located at the gorgeous Lodge, we visited the Campground…and it’s amazing! At the office, we were helped by Rocky, who was friendly and knowledgeable! We received CG info and a map, as well as rates. We are already planning our next trip to visit! The general store was stocked with necessities, as well as souvenirs. Of course we had to get some ice cream! There are several types of sites, monthly, cabins and tent camping. There are boat slips (local rentals) and a Pavilion on the water, basketball and tennis courts, playground, shady dog park, splash pad, and clean bathhouses. Firewood and ice can be purchased at the store. There are also many trails to hike and bike . It is easy to see that this SP is well maintained! The SP Lodge is worth visiting, which has a nice restaurant. LGSP has a golf course, and the quaint town is close by and has shopping and several restaurants.

      Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

      Very nice, quiet campground

Great campground & people! Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the lack of things to do. No fenced in dog park but plenty of space to have one. Right on the lake but unaware of any kind of rentals available nearby— closest rentals are 40 mins away on the opposite side of the lake. Nearest Walmart is Cullman which is 45 mins away. Wouldn’t recommend staying here if you prefer to be closer to the city but perfect if you want to be in the middle of the woods and have no reason to leave. Very hot, humid and rainy time of year! Would be back in the fall perhaps.

Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground

      Nice Military FAMCAMP

The campground(CG) was easy to find for our mid-October stay. We exited off on 14A to gate 9 where we went through the gate and then did a u-turn to take us back down past the golf course to the CG. We had no problem doing the u-turn with our 40' fifth wheel. We followed the signage to the CG and then into pull-through site 21 with FHUs. There was no formal check-in, but our name and stay dates were on the site post. The pads here are huge and the utilities including 50 AMP worked well. We got 3 bars on Verizon and 2 bars on T-Mobile along with a large selection of OTA channels. We could have used satellite as there are no trees near the RV sites. They have a nice fenced dog park plus a shower and laundry facility with 4 machines each costing$1. The WiFi worked well for a CG this size. Use Gate 8 near the commissary and BX versus 9. Gate 8 gives you an easier drive to the campground. Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay.

      River Ridge Retreat Guntersville

      Very spacious

Very spacious, tons of spots lake side or on the hill. Beautiful views, pet friendly.

There is a great playground and dog area," shares Alisa P. The course receives substantial play though maintenance varies.

The mountain bikers and bikers seem to enjoy themselves too, flying down the closed roadway," notes Shelly S. The park features multiple overlooks and a waterfall hike.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate the concrete pads at Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground. "This is a fantastic campground featuring level pull through concrete pads that can accommodate any size RV. It is quiet location with a Great dog park," writes David R. The lack of trees allows for satellite reception.

Waterfront camping: Lakefront options rank highly among campers. "We stayed in spot 12. Beautiful lakefront location! Electric/water hookup only. Workers were wonderful and place all together is clean and well maintained," says Ella M. about Decatur / Wheeler Lake KOA Holiday.

Clean facilities: Multiple campgrounds maintain high cleanliness standards. "Bath houses kept very clean. Small general store at check in with necessities," notes Madeline A. about Joe Wheeler State Park Campground. Regular trash pickup also appears in multiple positive reviews.

    What you should know

Industrial locations: Some campgrounds sit near industrial areas. "This is in an incredibly industrial area on the TN river. At the front is rusting dumpsters," warns Susan B. about Jay Landings Marina & RV Park. Noise from factories, trains, and recycling plants can affect certain sites.

Road access concerns: Access roads to some campgrounds present challenges. "Be careful driving here the road is very narrow and no shoulders. We met a school bus on the road and ended up having to go into the pit next to the road to avoid the bus," cautions Alisa P. about getting to Quail Creek RV Resort.

WiFi availability: Internet access varies significantly between locations. "No wifi per office with no known date of repair," reports Cathy A. about Point Mallard City Campground, while other locations feature multiple WiFi transponders throughout the property.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Multiple campgrounds feature dedicated children's areas. "There are cool little wooden play obstacles for the kids in the campground and a huge playground 1/2 mile away inside the park," notes Greg S. about Monte Sano State Park Campground. These provide entertainment options when not hiking or swimming.

Educational opportunities: Look for locations with nature programs. "The Japanese garden is very cool also. Wonderful overlooks to take in the surrounding area," adds Greg S. about Monte Sano State Park Campground, which offers opportunities to learn about local ecology and culture.

    Tips from RVers

Pull-through accessibility: For larger rigs, check site dimensions before booking. "The sites were a little bit tight & close but they were angled nicely. We had to maneuver the trailer around the trees but not complaining about the shade," shares Timothy T. about Point Mallard City Campground. Tight turns can be challenging for longer vehicles.

Hookup locations: The positioning of utility connections varies between campgrounds. "The utilities are in the middle of the pad and you can maneuver to suit your needs. Water pressure was good at 50 psi," reports MickandKarla W. about Northgate RV Travel Park, noting the flexibility helps with setup.

Long-term options: Some locations accommodate extended stays. "Been here for 2 months. It's very nice and peaceful. Great bath house. With laundry," mentions Tina B. about Quail Creek RV Resort.
