Teton Reservoir Campground - CLOSED

Description

Bureau of Land Management

Bureau of Land Management

Set in the rolling sage grasslands of the Great Divide Basin, this reservoir becomes a watery oasis under the bright summer skies. Fishing for trout in the reservoir and surrounding streams is good; this is also a popular non-motorized water sports area. This is a free site with 5 campsites, vault toilets, boat ramp, and day use parking. Campsites have picnic tables, fire ring/grills, and parking spurs with no pull-throughs. No horses allowed in campground. Typical use season is from June 1st through November 15 because access roads become impassable after heavy rain and snow belt wherein they get extremely muddy.

Closed

Drove to this site on 6/26/23 only to find the road closed. Ran across a couple fellas that directed us to Dugway Rec. Area near Sinclair.

Serene views of the reservoir and landscape

There are probably 7 or 8 spots with picnic tables. Most have fire rings and a grill but not all. Bathrooms within walking distance. Dry and bare ground scape so no wood scavenging to be done here. Bring in firewood for sure! Also wouldn’t recommend tent camping as the ground is gravel with lots of rocks of various sizes! Easy road in so could bring a trailer or RV of any size. Pretty views. Only one other group here so quiet and lots of space

Great quiet spot

This was a great quiet spot to stop for the night on way to Grand Teton from Rocky Mountain. Easy access with a low clearance camper van and they had bathrooms also. Super pretty views and about 15 miles off the highway so not too far out of the way. Great spot for one night

Beautiful, Remote, & Free!

Gorgeous free camping right alongside a small resevoir, nestled in a vast Wyoming landscape. 5 pull up campsite, with a few other pull off spots around the resevoir. Only two other campers there. tons of space and very relaxing. picnic tables, and two super clean vault toilets. windy but we slept in our subaru so it was great to get a breeze at night. highly recommended if looking for a free place to sleep for the night and soak in the big views.

Quiet beauty. And WIND!

Wind blew my tent down (one pole was weak and I couldn’t stake all corners in the rocks). Vault toilet. Water only from reservoir.

Simple, clean & our phones had service !

Looking for something close to the supercharger in Rawlings and this worked great. Cold night so we slept in the car. There was one other visitor way over by the second pit toilet down by the water, but we had the rim and the view to ourselves otherwise.

This place is awesome

I was headed to Grand Teton, but it got dark when I was passing through this area. Looked on this app to find it - it is very clean and beautiful. There wasn’t a soul here when I arrived, but I saw some people pass through around noon the next day. I would definitely recommend this spot if you need a pit stop to camp at.

Convenient and Quaint

We really liked this spot. It was full when we arrived at sundown on a Wednesday night so it’s no longer a secret but we camped along the side of the road and it was all good. It was clean, quiet, open, and next to a small body of water. Bathrooms were a nice amenity for this drive-up, dispersed campsite. Cayotes sang into the night making the experience pretty special.

Secret hideaway

This is a pretty special spot. It is beautiful. A perfect lake that the sky makes it change colors as the sun goes down. Just happened to camp here the night after the full moon, and watching it rise about the mountain peaks was gorgeous! True, it was a bit windy, but the clean grounds and bathrooms made up for it.

Cool site for a quiet night!

We drove out to the site and found five sites and two pit toilets. All of the sites were in a circle around the Bluff. We found a site that had a wind screen so it was easier to get relief from the wind.

Very quiet and peaceful night with a great sunset and sunrise!

Very quiet free camping

Hesitate to review because I kinda want to keep this place hidden. Very clean and quiet campsite. We camped in a tent but also saw another couple with a camper. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice secluded campsite

Decent campground far away from town. There are a limited number of sites but it is FREE!  Only downside is that is super windy there!  I felt like I was going to blow away, even with the wind barrier that’s at each site.

Not much to do here but a nice place to stay on your way through Wyoming.

Middle of nowhere awesomeness!

We were the only people there…

20 minutes south of Rawlins on a dirt road. It is a small lake with a boat dock 2 vault toilets and a small campground and that is it. If you like solitude this place was great, set in rolling sagebrush prairie of Wyoming. We stopped there just for the night on our way to Yellowstone. A storm came through as the sun went down so no night sky to view. It did get quite windy. Watch those camp fires!

Great stop on the way

Stopped to cook dinner and camp while on the way home from Ft Collins. This site was a very pleasant surprise. We parked on the far camp site by the reservoir, with no one but ourselves and the stars, and maybe a few coyotes in the distance. I expected it to be busy because it’s the thick of hunting season, but even if it was there are plenty of nice, big sites with fire rings and some even have grills. Two vault toilets as well and a small boat ramp.

Built a small fire but made sure it was dead out before bed, which was especially fortunate because the wind whipped up something fierce overnight. If you’ve even been on the nearby section of 80 you know how strong those winds can be. Don’t leave anything out overnight either; we’re lucky we still had our chairs and dog water bowl in the morning.

Great site and we will definitely stay again. Maybe you’ll see us there!

Basic, Nicely private

I have brought my tent here for an overnight stay and also brought my modular kayak to fish from. The lake was clean, had a great breeze, and had great fishing as well. It's a nice area for a mountain bike trip if you don't mind making your own path.
