Hike-in access only means this dispersed campground along the Snake River, set within Yellowstone National Park near the south entrance, requires carrying everything in. The trail starts with a wide stream crossing, then runs flat through grassy fields and forest before reaching several primitive sites. One site forks left past a small stream, with level ground, a fire pit, bear hangs, and rocky shoreline nearby. Garter snakes are common along the route. Reservations are available. Campers wanting a developed base can check Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch — John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Memorial Parkway a few miles to the southwest, or browse places to camp around Yellowstone National Park for a wider range of options.
