Great campground with many sites right on the lake. A place to swim and kayak. Great hiking trails - we chose the one with multiple water crossings. No hook ups but that’s ok with us. Very out of the way so take everything you need. Beautiful drive there too.

We were there in early October so it was empty. Great biking!! Mosquitoes still bad when in the refuge. Could see great birds and ponies from our site with binoculars. We loved it.

The police visited us bc we were drinking outside of our camper. He was very nice and explained no alcohol allowed. This is clearly stated and we were in the wrong. Spaces are not private but the lake is beautiful. I can see where some people would love this campground. We canoed and that was fun.

We liked camping here. Rustic but with hook ups. Nice big pier for fishing. Not too much in the area. We did some bike rides. Take your groceries bc the grocery stores aren’t great.

A bear ran through the campground so that was really cool. Wonderful campground with nice hikes. Kids love it. The lake is pretty. Out in the rustic wilds. Just what camping should be. Bring everything you need bc there’s nothing there.

I love Big Meadows on the Sky Line Drive. Really beautiful. Fresh air. Hikes galore. Wonderful night programs. It’s just special being in a National Park. Sites vary but NO hook ups. Pay showers.

We stayed a few years ago during Arbor Day so we helped plant trees. That was fun. Even better was the stargazing they offered.

I know most people love this park but I’m not a beach sand mosquito loving person. Site was kinda small and not level.

We did 3 hikes and they were all fantastic. Hiked to the highest point in Virginia, saw ponies and followed a beautiful river. We saw cool trees and rock formations. We really loved it. We stayed in a yurt and that was wonderful too. Really delightful.

One of the best laid out campgrounds ever! Great sites on the lake. Big, flat and just perfect. It’s a big campground so it was fun biking around. There isn’t much else there though. We had to go about 2 miles to a convenience store for wood. The damn is cool to see.

We started out in P63 - it has the best views but it is really small, no where to spread out and totally exposed to the wind. I don’t recommend it. After driving around for an hour seeing what was available we moved to A15. Much better! Secluded from the wind and a nice place to set up. We biked to Fattys and got delicious ice cream but biking on 12 was not really very fun. We saw lots of snakes crossing the road at the campground but none in our site. They were good harmless snakes.

I’ve stayed here in a tent and a camper. I’ve also stayed in the cabins. We love this park so much. The river is beautiful, the hiking excellent, and the fantastic rail trail is right there. The area has so much to offer - Bear Town, Cranberry, Falls - it’s all wild wonderful West Virginia!!
