Over Flow is a Hidden Gem

Due to an emergency we made last minute reservations and Indian Point was very accommodating and helpful. However being so last minute we were put into the overflow lot. Little known to us, this is the best spot to be! Now it is a little more like a “parking lot” but the space we gained is amazing. We are backed up to an enormous hill with maintained grass and trees! We brought our three dogs and our 3 year old and the space was perfect to let them run and lose some energy. Only draw back of this camp ground is they do not allow private bonfires. Other than that everything was very nice. I would give it 5 stars but it wasn’t the most clean place we have stayed.

Never Going Back

This park wasn’t anything spectacular. I am honestly surprised it had 4 stars. The location was cool being on the water but the grounds were absolutely disgusting. Our site had a nice brick pad, which was convenient and a good bit of space behind the trailer, but all around was terrible. The electrical hook ups were all busted up, (I would not recommend using it without a surge guard), the water faucets leaked and the ground was soaked. They had tractors and construction going on at all times, you couldn’t just relax outside your trailer. You had to yell to talk over the equipment. The playground for our two year old was filthy and unsafe for her to play on. They did have a jumping pillow that she could play on and she did enjoy, but again garbage everywhere and was filthy. I know it sounds like a list of complaints but when you go through their entrance, which was beautiful, the park was very disappointing.

Happy But Disappointed

The beach was absolutely amazing. By far 10/10 for camp ground beaches. However, the actual campground was not a direct reflection of our beach experience. The KOA Registration building was beautiful. However, the grounds were sub par, the restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday, and only open for breakfast and lunch. We picked a KOA and spent 100+ a night for a resort style experience. The “store” had a ton of supplies but their refrigerators were broken and they were letting milk and other perishable items sit in a sweltering hot freezer. My first experience with that staff was watching a check in person and a customer have an argument about the check in process. The customer was told they could check in at 3 pm and then was told to wait until 5 because their room wasn’t ready. The staff offered no help only that they needed to wait. As a customer you hate to see the way you could be treated. All in all, my family and I enjoyed the beach, our space was small but still spacious enough to enjoy, and the silver lining of the restaurant being closed got us out into their small community. I wanted to rate is 3 stars but at the end of the day we really enjoyed our time.

First Trip Ever

The family and I were on the fence on if we wanted to start camping or not and then we found cape Charles. We rented a camper and headed out. Being that we knew nothing about trailer camping and basically showed up without anything we needed, the staff and community made it one of the greatest memories for our family. The grounds were kept clean and the camp sites were fairly spacious and very well up kept. The staff literally held my hand through everything and 100% turned us into campers. We are beyond impressed with views the staff, the location, the restaurant, the dog beach/park, the activities and the list goes on. We will 100% be revisiting and hopefully next time we will know what we are doing!
