TravelerStopped by midweek without reservation after vehicle issues forced a stop by the nearby shops in Barre/Berlin. Very peaceful with ample hammock spots. They sell wood stacked in cribs, wish I'd planned for that as I ended up using my only towel to haul it. Good price on the wood, though.
I'd come back here if it were just to quietly meditate or read or something, but don't know if there's much to do. I didn't experience the same issues others did with bathroom as some other reviews and surprised to learn there are campers who require a full kitchen sink- I just use a couple of rags.
Bottom line, a lovely but unmemorable stay.
TravelerStayed here overnight before day hiking at the nearby falls. Seemed a little expensive for what it was, but mostly tranquil. A few trees separate sites. Friendly staff made a point to find me a level site. Nice bathhouse including outdoor kitchen washing area. Connects to trail network.

GuideThis was among the mist beautiful campsites I have ever stayed at. Large sites with space between neighbors. We had enough privacy to open the shade on our big picture window on our tiny teardrop and fall asleep looking at the stars. Download an area map before you arrive, we lost cell service on the way here and couldn’t rely on navigation. Friday and Saturday nights were fully booked. On Sunday, people could drive in and pick a spot. You need cash if you pay at the entrance. Lots of license plates from NH, MA, ME. On Sugarloaf trail, we encountered lots of first-timers and lots of repeat customers.

ScoutI stayed here with my boyfriend on a weekend in June 2024. We came on a Friday night and there were no available sites so we slept elsewhere, got up early on Saturday and claimed an available site, pitched a tent and went about the day.
As we were leaving after having pitched our tent, we saw a guy walking the road who instantly I had a bad intuitive feeling about and my boyfriend told me not to worry about it.
After hiking for the day we came back to the site to make food and a fire, etc. After cozying up my boyfriend told me he was going to walk to the stream near by to get some water to put the fire out before bed later…
NO less than 2 minutes after my boyfriend disappeared into the woods, who do you think just so happen to come creeping up to the site while I was left alone? Ah yes, gross homeless guy that I had a bad feeling about that same morning. He started approaching me telling me there was a bear near by and to watch out as if I wasn’t aware there was wild life in the area. I told him to go away and he proceeded to walk to the opposite direction of which he came.
Most people would probably brush this off but I’m certain this man was stalking. For creepy men to have nothing better to do than stalk and bother innocent people just trying to enjoy life is infuriating. Of course this area was beautiful but sadly can’t say I’ll be coming back here and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for solo female adventurers… Not trying to scare. Just wanted to share my honest experience here to spread awareness.
GuideWe came out here to visit dog mountain and also celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary! This place was amazing! Very close to dog mountain. The river was behind our site. Perfect place to stay! We didn’t want to leave. Everyone was very nice! More like friends or family!
ScoutBeautiful campsite in Smugglers Notch State Park. Central to everything in Stowe and minutes away from the resort. Really nice campsite with great staff. The only complaint is mosquitos were rampant in standing water near our site. Bring bug spray. Would definitely visit again!
