Description

Bureau of Land Management

The Swell is also known as a great place for dispersed camping. Dispersed camping is a term used for camping outside of a designated campground. For those looking to strike off and find the ideal spot to pitch your tent, keep in mind that there are no services – no trash removal, no facilities, no access to water, meaning it is NOT for the casual camper.

Amazing isolation

This is a great spot and a great find! You have to open a gate and close it behind you as you go down the road. You will need 4x4 as there is a bunch of really sandy spots and some pretty gnarly dips so high clearance would be nice. At the time there was no cell service or it was very sparse. Also take plenty of water. The early views of the desert were amazing and the night time was beautiful. Would recommend if your well equipped.

Convienent pull off the highway

You have to open a gate to get through, didn’t quite go to this exact spot but it was quiet on the dirt road and a lot of pull offs.
