  Zion River Resort

  Great park & amenities, close to everything!

  We stayed at Zion RV resort in Virgin, Utah just outside Zion National Park and nearby towns in October 2021. This is a very nice full-service RV resort that offers a variety of pull-through and back-in sites, and cabins. The sites are 50amp FHU, fairly long, and have nice spacing between sites. The park is pristine and offers a large inviting pool and hot tub, laundry room, playground, dog runs, propane fill station, and a real lodge with lots of apparel, home goods, ice, beer and other beverage choices. There is access to the Virgin River from the campground. We really enjoyed our stay here just minutes from Zion and other local attractions. The only downside was wifi coverage if you have Verizon.   WillowWind RV Park

  Best wifi experience in an RV park

  We needed stable, steady Internet for a month. While we regularly travel with two hotspots for Internet coverage, we barely needed to use them. 

  We stayed in one of the satellite friendly spots. Unfortunately, the space we were in was not so "friendly" due to the mature trees on either side. The satellite friendly spots are in the back of the RV park, and the aisle behind us had newer/younger trees that would not block satellite (but also would provide no shade).

  Your experience at this park may vary. There were clearly a lot of monthly/semi-permanent residents at this park, especially on the back in spots at the edges. We would go back here, but we'd get a pull-through site next time.

  Pros:

  - Internet.

  - Location in reference to Zion, Bryce, and Cedar Breaks.

  - Post office (for general delivery) is 2-3 blocks away.

  - Major restaurants and retail stores within 10-15 miles (St. George).

  - At least 3 state parks within a 20 mile radius, two are water sport havens (Sand Hollow and Quail Creek) and the other is hiking trail nirvana (Snow Canyon).

  Cons:

  - No pool on site. 

  - Location of trees on RV space meant that we could not use our patio awning for the month. If we positioned our RV to allow us to use the awning, we wouldn't be able to park our tow vehicle at all. 

  - Our RV space was in the area with grass between the spaces. Sprinklers were programmed for daily delivery, and because of the width of the concrete pad, we were getting hard water stains on our RV (the sprinkler head pointed directly at our steps out of the RV). We noticed that on some of the "monthly" sites, there were plastic sprinkler head "deterrents" that would keep the spray from overshooting onto the concrete pad.

  Zion West RV Park

  Nice smaller park.

  We stayed at Zion West RV park in October 2021. This is a small RV park with a mix of full-time and traveling RVers. It has a variety of sites including pull-through, back-in and tent sites. We had a FHU site with 50 amp service. This park doesn’t offer a lot of amenities, but does have showers and laundry room. It’s in the small town of Leeds, Utah and is about 30 minutes west Zion National Park. It is also near many trails and fun things to do. We enjoyed our stay here and it was quiet and relaxing. We will stay here again next time we visit Zion NP.

  McArthur's Temple View RV Resort

  Well organized Snowbird nest 😃

  The Temple View RV Resort in St. George was nice even though the lots are not paved. They have a covered bubble swimming pool, shuffleboard, billiards, and a lot of different scheduled events you can participate in. 50amp full hookups including cable TV and Strong wifi. It's located 10 minutes off the highway. Lot of single wide, well kept trailers that are lined with palm trees. Many high end RV coach's (250k UP) Only issue we had the 2 days we stayed was low water pressure entire stay. Called the office to see if the pressures could be raised and was told to wait a few minutes and try. Well I tryed around 100 times for taking a shower and ended up unable to in our new RV and it wasn't our RV's problem as both neighbors next to me also said their water pressures were weak... Still, its a nice place with nice people. Felt safe & comfortable.

  Zion River Resort

  Nice RV Park, wifi is slow though

  The park itself is nice. Full hook ups, heated pool and hot tub. Restrooms and laundry on site. Propane also on site. There are also a series of fenced in dog parks (3). So if you have dogs that don’t get along with other dogs that’s a plus because you can just go in a different one. The wifi is kind of hit or miss sometimes though. When the park is full at peak times good luck streaming anything. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I wouldn’t spring for the back in river spots unless you just want privacy behind you. The view for us isn’t that great as there is a rock wall behind you so your view is actually of that unless you have a very big rig. It is very close to Springdale and Zion National Park which is very convenient and why we chose it so four stars.

  McArthur's Temple View RV Resort

  McArthur's Temple View RV Resort + Saint George

  We were on a road trip around Utah and decided to stop in the town of Saint George to get a bite to eat. We ended up taking our time to eat. By the time that we finished it was already dark and a little bit late. We didn't feel like driving far to a State or National Park, so we looked on TheDyrt app for nearby campgrounds. We found the McArthur's Temple View RV Resort right in the middle of town. 

  We first attempted to call the resort to see if they had any openings, but it was a Sunday evening and their office was closed. We were close by so we decided to just cruise over to the site. We found the office and luckily they had an after hours info kiosk with information about available campsites. We found one that was located right behind the office and adjacent to the restroom which worked out perfect for our needs. 

  The resort has many other amenities that we did not have time to take advantage of such as a pool, shuffleboard, cable tv, movie theatre, etc. It appears that this is both a long term and short term RV resort with many amenities. We paid the fee via the dropbox which was about $42. The restrooms and all the facilities were clean and accessible. At this resort, you're located in the middle of town, so don't expect easy access to natural areas. However, there are natural areas nearby the town of Saint George. 

  The next day we drove to the nearby Valley of Fire State Park and had a blast. 

  Caveat: The resort's name is McArthur's Temple View RV Resort which kinda indicates that while at the resort you may view the Saint George Mormon Temple. We could view the temple from an open area within the resort, but not every campsite has a temple view. It's best to simply drive to the nearby temple and check it out if you are so inclined.

  An okay spot in St George

  I typically rate campgrounds as they fit into 1 of 5 categories. This campground will be rated as a Basecamp — grounds that offer a comfortable home base that you’re happy to return to after a day of exploring the surrounding area. Ratings for this category are based on: Value to cost: 3 Overall grounds: 4 Utility of sites (hookups, layout, accessibility): 3 Local Attraction Proximity: 4 Reservation Process/Ease of Getting a Site: 5 Amenities: 4 Customer Service: 5 Cleanliness: 4

  Price seems a bit high for what you get. We were in a back-in site which was $75/night after all taxes and fees (included a 10% Good Sam discount). There are limited options in the area and with Zion so close by and half the nation vacationing in RVs right now, our hands were a bit tied. We have some other favorite spots in this area but they were all booked up in late September.

  These sites are CLOSE together. The one thing I liked about the layout was that they have you park on the other side of your concrete pad, so your face isn’t right at your neighbors sewer hose or slide out when you step out your door. However, your neighbor behind you is right at your bumper. Luckily, all our neighbors were friendly and pleasant. There is a picnic table and concrete area for chairs. Our table was not cleaned and seemed to have something dripped all over it (looked like blood, unconfirmed).

  They have free wifi boosters they rent out during your stay so it makes the wifi not awful... good enough for browsing and checking emails with some patience.

  We didn’t use the pool but it looked nice and was quiet while we were there. We actually didn’t use any facilities but the office was clean! Also, while the staff wore masks, they were virtually the only people in town wearing them. Almost all of St. George was mask-free.

  Very very close to downtown St George (1.5 miles) and tons of good restaurants. Good proximity to nearby parks and Zion is less than an hour away. Staff was very friendly.

  It’s a find place to stay but with cost factored in, we would only return if we were in a bind... or really wanted full hookups.

  Watchman Campground — Zion National Park

  Amazing Views

  We camped at Watchman for three nights June 19-22,2020. Shuttles are not running and the scenic drive going to the lodge was closed due to COVID-19. We camped in the B loop, site # 51. This was a back-in space complete with a picnic table, fire ring (which we could not use due to fire season) and electrical hook-up. Portable water to fill tanks was available at the dump station just as you enter the campground. Our site was well shaded and very close to the Virgin River. Although available, we didn’t use the bath house.

  The campground was full to capacity the whole time we were there. It is important to reserve your site at least 6 Months in advance at this campground!!

  The Visitor’s Center and Park Store are within walking distance from the campground. Lots of swimming and tubing going on at the River. Tubes can be rented in Springdale. If you wanted to hike the Narrows or other trails along the scenic drive you had to either hire a shuttle ($30 round trip), bike or walk in. The paid shuttle pick up and return was in Springdale just outside the Park.

  Dogs were allowed in the campground on leash and also on ONE trail. All other trails were off limits to pets.

  Zion River Resort

  Best RV Park in Utah

  This place is so nice! Spacious shower stalls with toilet, sink, bench and shower. Laundry facilities. Year round heated pool and hot tub. Store on site with decent prices. All spots have a tree with grass, picnic table and concrete pads. Also has small playground and dog park. Access to Virgin River with a primitive trail.
