This campground offers a mix of tent and RV sites, making it a versatile choice for different camping styles, though you’ll need to bring your own water since there’s none available on-site.

Overview

In the early 1980s, the Baker Dam Recreation Area was developed to take advantage of the recreational opportunities provided by the reservoir. Today, the recreation area serves as a base camp to enjoy not only the reservoir, but adjacent public lands as well. Please protect your resources by acting responsibly and following the rules.

Recreation

Baker Dam Reservoir is known for its cold water game fish. It is annually stocked by the UDWR with rainbow and brown trout. Migratory and year-round birds enjoy the reservoirs open water and the Santa Clara Rivers riparian habitat. View birds at the reservoir as well as along the Overlook Trails. Look for Eagles, Gray Flycatchers, Herons, and other waterfowl. Hunting is permitted on public lands in accordance with Utah state laws and regulations outside of recreation area. There are opportunities to hunt for deer, quail, and rabbit. Keep off highway vehicles on existing roads and trails. OHVs may travel on BLM managed lands and the Dixie National Forest on existing roads and trails; however, OHV use is not permitted within the recreation area. Please be informed of all laws and regulations relating to OHVs.

Nice area

This is a decent BLM established campground. Vault toilets that were okay clean. No water which is fine for me. Camp sites are not too close but you can hear generators and conversations. Our neighbors shut down at quiet time except the generator ran til midnight. But it was a warm night.

Perfect little getaway

We have stayed here multiple times for just a weekend getaway. It's a pretty spot and usually has openings. No water on site so make sure you bring your own.

Convenient and clean

I pulled in super late on a Monday night in September, just needed a place to open up my rooftop tent and get some sleep before I headed over to Zion in the morning. The campground was completely empty and is absolutely beautiful. There are signs that say you have to have a reservation, but I assume those really apply during busy season. There was no host here but the bathrooms were unlocked, clean, and convenient.

Hidden Gen

Great campground, most campsites are trailer accessible or can fit multiple tents, super clean bathrooms. It would be 5 Stars from us if there would have been potable water, and more trails to hike, there was only one short one we found. Fishing was slow but we had fun.

Windy but beautiful

Ended up here as a last minute change in camping locations, and it didn’t disappoint. Spots are a little rough, with some concrete tables (a couple with missing benches) and other spots with old weathered wooden tables. Saw a mountain lion while out on a stroll in the campground, which was exciting. Will be back for sure, when it warms up and the cold wind that comes out of the canyon isn’t so bone chilling.

Baker

this place gets hot during the summer but in the fall and spring it is a great getaway. Fishing is decent at the lake and camp host as well as bathrooms in campground.
