AMAZING HIDDEN GEM CLOSE TO CEDAR CITY

Found this place on the DYRT as we were looking for a place to check out when going from Bryce Canyon to Zion. And decided on Cedar city. Almost all RV sites in town were >$60/night, so we opted to dry camp. Pyramid Ridge was exactly what we wanted. And for only $12/night (plus a $8 reservation fee) it was well worth it. Highly recommend.

Clean, quiet, near great trails

Small blm campground at foot of a few mountains and adjacent to gorgeous hiking and biking trail system. Very quiet. No water but decent pit toilet. Sites are pretty close to other campsites. Enjoyed my stay. Stayed 2 nights.

Hate to tell people about this gem

This is a small, reservation only BLM campground with only 10 or 12 spots. Nice flat spots for tents, less level but not bag for small trailers & vans/small motorhomes. Not many spots for over 22'. No water or other hookups but right near a trail system (rated easy to hard) for bike or hike. Quiet except one mopping cow in the pasture next door. Mostly sunny spots with a little shade.

Quiet and Peaceful

Stayed in spot 11, plenty of space for everything. Not a lot of campgrounds spaces but cheap to reserve.

Great little spot

We stayed here two nights in mid October and really enjoyed it. There’s a pot toilet at the trailhead not far from the sites, fire ring and stone picnic table at each site, and you’re surrounded by trees and beautiful mountains. What could be better? The highway is nearby so there’s some light highway noise but we didn’t find it at all intrusive.

Great for a quick stop

Picked this spot off of The Dyrt after checking out some dispersed spots back near Leeds, and deciding we didn’t want to take our 23 Ft class c down them, with dark closing in.

Rolled in half an hour after sunset and more than half the sites were still available. Picked one we liked, and reserved it on recreation.gov so we wouldn’t have any worries.

Certainly not the most well-equipped campground, no water, no electric. Good size fire rings, and nice concrete picnic tables at each site.

You will hear the interstate traffic all night, but it is far enough off that it’s easy to tune out.

Overall, it made for exactly what we wanted, a spot to park for the night that was easy to get the rig to.

Of note - the road in, Shirts Canton Road, is starting to washboard pretty good.

great, quiet campground

I rolled in at around 10 PM and there were still a ton of sites available. You can reserve a site ahead of time but I did not (stayed for free). Theres a picnic table and a fire pit at every site, pretty convenient. I saw a sign for restrooms at the entrance to the campground but I did not see them.  Very quiet, clean, and well kept. Not even 5 minutes off the interstate and theres 1-2 bars of cell service with ATT.

Nice little campground close to the interstate

Temperatures were a little bit hot, but that’s to be expected this time of year at this elevation in Utah. Very few people were here, and I stayed on the Fourth of July.

There were quite a few gunshots happening nearby, so I wonder if there is a range that is close? That’s something to consider if you have a dog with gunshot or firework sensitivity.

Overall I really recommend this campsite because it’s cheap and close to the interstate
