Best RV Parks & Resorts near Tatum, TX

RV parks near Tatum provide a range of accommodations for motorhome travelers. Laguna Vista RV Park offers full hookups with level gravel lots that can handle larger rigs, while Carthage RV Campground features spacious sites with water, electric, sewer, and trash services. "Nice concrete pads, average size for the site for a privately owned park," noted one camper about KE Bushman's Camp, which includes a fishing pond. Shallow Creek RV Park stands out with concrete pads, two swimming pools, a hot tub, and splash park, making it popular with long-term and overnight guests alike. Most parks in the area accommodate big rigs with pull-through sites, though some require careful navigation due to narrow entrance roads.

Several RV parks in the region operate year-round, with varying levels of amenities and pricing. Monthly rates are available at many locations for extended stays, with some parks offering discounts through Good Sam or Passport America memberships. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the area, with visitors reporting strong Verizon coverage at Shallow Creek and adequate AT&T service at most parks. According to one visitor, "We found this at the last minute and they had room for 25 days. When we got in the owner said he would give us the monthly rate because it was cheaper than 3 weeks." Dump stations are available at most parks, though some older facilities may have limited bathroom and shower accommodations. Pet-friendly policies are common, though designated pet areas vary in size and quality between properties.

    Shreveport Bossier City KOA

    Not to sure

Did an extended stay here, 3 months while working in the area. The staff is great and very helpful and friendly. The dog park is nice if you have them. Park is well maintained. There are only 2 reasons I couldn’t give them more than 3 stars, 1) on monthly rate they charge for electric which I get but it continued to go up even though outside temps continued to drop so no need for my A/C units. 2) During the last 4 nights of my stay there were multiple times I heard multiple gun fire in the area.

Lots of in and out traffic. I would recommend if your passing through the area and need to stop for a night or two but not long term.

    Johnson Creek Camp

Beautiful place on Lake 'O the Pines, but crowded campsites

I stayed here for five nights in mid-March. The campground is a mix of tent/RV loops and has multiple boat ramps into Johnson Creek which feeds into Lake 'O the Pines. I was in site E210 (RV area 2). Place was packed over the weekend, cleared out quite a bit during the week. I check out all four RV loops, and it's one of the most crowded COE campgrounds I've seen (and I've seen a lot). Site spacing in pretty close, but slightly better than commercial parks. I lucked out on E210, it was a pull-through that perched overlooking the lake. It was among the more private sites. Fairly level sites in loops, some asphalt, some concrete. Water/Elec, picnic pad and table and fire rings at all sites. I would definitely recommend and go back but pick your sites carefully if you want privacy - think Google satellite view or Google Earth. Pretty decent cell signal for Verizon, so-so for ATT.

House of Prayer - Church and Campground

    Nice Family Atmosphere

This is a quiet place. There's about 10 full hook up, level, pull through sites. Pretty surroundings. Kyle and Sarah keep it clean and family friendly. There's a laundry room. No Bathhouse. They're building a pond, which will be lovely once it's done in 2022. There are small houses nearby. Nice folks living in them. Kyle is really nice, not pushy with religion. Close to Center, Tx. I suggest Darrel's or Chaps for Bbq!

    Pros

Pristine clean restroom/showerhouse. Seemed recently renovated

BIG PINE camping area only big rig friendly(longer than 20 ft) out of 40 FHU sites. Big Pine, Dogwood and Mountain View Campgrounds FHU so 40 FHU sites with no park dump station.

Aluminum picnic table and fire ring with cooking grate

Very quiet campground except for highway and train noise

    4 camp hosts

Good night sky viewing in BIG PINE

Good view of lake in BIG PINE

    Privacy from side neighbors

    CONS

Most FHU sites (other than BIG PINE) are extremely short in length. Barely room for single axle TT, so need to review site details carefully

Site 8 had an extreme amount of above ground roots causing tripping hazard

    Buffalo Bayou RV Park

    Not what we expected

Made a reservation via telephone for two days a month in advance, but was not given a site number. When we pulled up to the office there was a note with a telephone number to call, but no answer. I saw a gentleman walking around and it appeared he saw us. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decide to driver further into the park. The gentleman I saw earlier was one of the owners/ managers, I would would have expected him to go to the office to meet the newly arriving guests. I will say that he was friendly enough and later, his wife stopped by to collect the fee and she too was friendly. The park itself has full hook ups and is on the banks of the bayou. The campground require you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs. The. Campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. The do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard. Our fellow campers seemed friendly enough with the gentleman on the other side from the junk yard introducing himself.

    TravelCenters of America RV Park

    EASY OFF INTERSTATE ACCESS

We came here for a quick over night stay. Right off interstate by gas stations and food. We were in a pull through spot, which was level, but barely long enough for our truck and 30 ft camper. Full hookups (bring extra long electric cord!), picnic table, showers, cable, dog park, and extra parking area noted. No fires allowed. With Good Sam our spot was 34.00 which was quite reasonable.

    Buckhorn Creek

    Popular Campground

We arrived about 3:30 PM and check in was quick and easy. We proceeded to back-in site E139 with water& 50/30 AMP. The signage to our area had a R in front of the site numbers but all the site numbers on the posts have an E in front of them, so be aware of this discrepancy if coming in late. Back-in was easy on to the narrow pad that was long enough for our 39’ 5th wheel and F-450 truck parked in front, but not by much. There was a very nice deck with the fire pit/bbq nicely placed right off the deck. Site 140 next to us with the other deck is actually a pull through double site. Longest sites in this area of the CG are 109- 113. Other sites had short pads so be sure to check the length when you reserve. All of the pads in the CG looked fairly level. We got 2 bars on Verizon and a handful of OTA channels. With the amount of trees in the CG satellite could be iffy. Water pressure was okay at around 35 psi. The CG also had a separate and very nice tent area near the playground. They were remodeling the main restroom/shower so it was closed during our stay, but there was another facility in each RV area(100 and 200) that had toilets and a shower but were older and in need of updating. We stayed over the weekend and the CG was very busy. We enjoyed the great water view from the deck on our site during our 4 night’s stay.

    Buckhorn Creek

    Love this place

Spur of moment trip to just get away. Fwel lucky to find. Nice, clean, friendly, concrete backin spaces, big, shady, quite, wildlife roaming, friendly staff, no sewage but dump station, showers dated but hot water and clean. Swimming, gated, need pass, boating, playground. Close to historic , I'm in love with that part of the town , Jefferson Texas. Gonna make a post regarding a Jefferson 5x boondocking parking lot with or without hookups, free over night, or $12 hookup to electric. Don't know why everyone complains so much. Yes its a parking lot across street from police station. Laid back town, step back in time. Obviously they only see parking lot but this area is awesome. Just spent whole day hunting bigfoot, eating ice cream from old timey parlor, many, things to do and see in walking distance.
Back to this camp ground. It's surounded by beautiful Lake of the pines. Would and will definately be baci real soon.
