Not what we expected

Made a reservation via telephone for two days a month in advance, but was not given a site number. When we pulled up to the office there was a note with a telephone number to call, but no answer. I saw a gentleman walking around and it appeared he saw us. After waiting about 10 minutes, I decide to driver further into the park. The gentleman I saw earlier was one of the owners/ managers, I would would have expected him to go to the office to meet the newly arriving guests. I will say that he was friendly enough and later, his wife stopped by to collect the fee and she too was friendly. The park itself has full hook ups and is on the banks of the bayou. The campground require you to sign a waiver because of the water moccasins from the bayou and because of the potential of falling tree limbs. The. Campground is pretty sandy so leveling may be problematic for big rigs. The do allow long term guests to store all kinds of equipment and gear, the site next to us look like a junk yard. Our fellow campers seemed friendly enough with the gentleman on the other side from the junk yard introducing himself.

Great campground, excellent hosts

5/5

Newer campground that is very well laid out and well kept. Tall tree limb canopy helps with a nice breeze and fewer bugs.  This is on a bayou so be prepared for mosquitoes.  Great paddling trails and about100 yards from Big Cypress Bayou connected by a boat trail.  Nice shower / restroom close to the tent area.

Leslie and Pat are fantastic hosts and go out of their way to make you feel at home.  Ask about their buffalo ranch.

Kayak out from the park through cypress trees

An absolutely beautiful setting. This is a quiet, quaint park with the most beautiful views. I hosted a kayak camp out with 23 ladies to go kayaking. There is a kayak rental right next door which is a very short paddle to the camp. There’s a small boat ramp at the park so putting in is easy. There’s 3 trails close to the park. Trails took 1 -2 hours depending on which one you take and how fast you paddle. There’s a shower house with 1 shower, sink and toilet, very clean and plenty of room with a bench. The park is well kept and clean. There is a fire ring at each camp site and full hook ups. There is a HUGE public fire pit that is wonderful to gather with larger groups. The owners Pat and Leslie live on the grounds and are wonderful and available for any questions. This is a rather new park and is hidden gem at Caddo and well worth the stay.
