Best RV Parks & Resorts near Freeport, TX

Freeport offers several coastal RV camping options with full hookup services. Gulf Coast 5 Star RV Park in Oyster Creek provides water, electric, and fifty-amp hookups with concrete pads suitable for larger rigs. Blue Water RV Resort features similar amenities with the addition of boat access directly to waterways and market services on site. Brazoria Lakes RV Resort accommodates RVs with full hookup sites including electric, water, sewer, and sanitary dump access. The sites at most parks have limited spacing between neighbors. "The sites are not shaded at all, which makes it hot for summer camping. There are plenty of palm trees, they're just not fully grown yet."

Seasonal considerations affect availability throughout the coastal region. Summer months see higher occupancy rates, while winter attracts long-term visitors escaping colder climates. Beach proximity varies between parks, with Blue Water RV Resort offering the closest beach access. Most parks maintain gated security systems for resident safety. Cell service remains reliable throughout the area, though WiFi quality differs considerably between locations. Pet policies vary significantly - Jamaica Beach RV Resort and Brazoria Lakes both welcome pets, while Gulf Coast 5 Star explicitly prohibits them. According to one visitor, "We were really late coming in because our Navi took us through downtown Houston. Maria answered the phone well past working hours when no other RV park would."

    USA RV Resorts Marina Bay

    Central location in Kemah, TX

New, smaller park with all the amenities. Level concrete pads will accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. All are back in sites with sewer, city water, 20/30/50 amp power, cable TV, and WiFi included. There’s a nice club house for parties, laundry facilities, a pool next to the bayou, fishing and kayaking/canoeing in the bayou and a friendly staff that keeps the park clean and cared for.

Close to Galveston but still quiet

Month long stay, $730, water, 50 amp. End of October/beginning of November the park is booked out as well as during warmer months. Half of the facilities washers and dryers didn't work. Southlake RV Resort

    Nice clean park

The park is VERY clean and also quiet! It’s close to everything so thats a major plus. However it does have A LOT of rules. Also, a lot of long term residents live here. The back in spots are a little tight so if you’re not great at backing in just get a pull through. The facilities are immaculate . It’s been worth the price so far.

    Galveston Island KOA Holiday

    Fun Place to stay

I recently stayed at the Galveston Island KOA during a much-anticipated getaway, and I have to say, it was a delightful experience overall! Nestled just a short distance from the beach and local attractions, this KOA is the perfect base for exploring all that Galveston has to offer. Its a bit away from town, but that adds to the tranquilness of the park.  Accommodation: The RV sites were well-maintained and spacious, with clean concrete pads that provided easy access for our motorhome. We were pleasantly surprised by the level of privacy between sites and the beautiful greenery surrounding the campground, as we had a corner site with dog pen. Some spots, like ours, even offered nice trees for shade and added charm. The amenities included water, electricity, and sewer connections, all functioning properly during our stay. Facilities: The campground featured clean restrooms and showers that were well-kept, which is always a plus for RV travelers. The camp store was stocked with essentials.  The KOA’s location is exceptional. It’s just a few miles from the heart of Galveston, making it easy to access the beach, restaurants, and attractions like the historic Pleasure Pier and the Strand. We especially loved how close it was to the beach—it was a quick drive(or a nice bike ride) to the sandy shores, where we spent hours soaking up the sun. Activities and Atmosphere: The staff were friendly and eager to help with information about local activities and attractions. The KOA offered recreational options like a swimming pool. The campground maintained a family-friendly atmosphere that made it easy to unwind and enjoy nature. Tips for Future Guests: If you plan to visit during peak season, make reservations in advance to secure a good spot, as this campground can get busy. Especially if you want a cabin. Don’t miss the chance to explore the beach during sunset—it was truly a breathtaking experience!

Final Thoughts: Our experience at the Galveston Island KOA was memorable and enjoyable. It was the first time out in our new motorhome.  The combination of respectful staff, clean facilities, and a prime location made it a fantastic home base for our beach adventures. I’d highly recommend this KOA to anyone looking to explore Galveston while enjoying the comforts of camping. We left with wonderful memories and hope to return soon!

    Quintana Beach County Park

    Nice relaxing beach park

We stayed here during the week in April, and the weather was perfect. A nice steady breeze kept the mosquitoes away, which we heard can be pretty bad. They have 30 amp FHU sites as well as 50 amp. Also have nice looking cabins for rent. A short walk over a nice boardwalk to the beach. Also half mile walk to the bird sanctuary, which is awesome for bird lovers. Free wifi, but the connection kept dropping. Great 5G connection with Verizon. Level, concrete pads. We required no leveling. Sites are spacious and patio is surrounded with well mowed grass. Campground is on a ship channel and it was fun watching the huge tankers go by. We really enjoyed this park and will return. No shade, so it would be quite hot in summer.

    Big State RV Park

    Still being expanded!

This is a hidden jewel since you can't see the campground from I-45 when headed to Galveston,TX.  Once you find where it is you can easily reach it.  The campground is stil being expanded but is open and is pet friendly and very quiet. All concrete roads and pads at sites.  All sites are full hookup with 30 and 50 amp service.  Water and sewer are connected to the city services.  Washer and dryers and showers are in the back of the Office. There are 2 ponds to fish in and there is a City Park next door within walking distance.

Guide to Freeport

Coastal RV camping near Freeport, Texas offers direct access to both the Gulf of Mexico shoreline and inland waterways. The region maintains year-round camping with tropical climate conditions, though summer temperatures consistently reach above 90°F with high humidity. Winter lows rarely drop below 40°F, making this area popular with seasonal visitors seeking mild weather camping options.

What to do

Fishing access: Blue Water RV Resort provides fishing docks directly behind specific sites. According to one camper, "We stayed in one of the sites with fishing docks and my husband had a great time fishing." The resort's location on the bay creates convenient water access without leaving the campground.

Beach proximity: Jamaica Beach RV Resort offers beach access across the highway plus bayside recreation on property. A visitor notes, "Walk to bayside for birdwatching (resort's property) and walk to beach! Great staff, all the amenities you could want!" The location balances both Gulf and bay water recreation opportunities.

Water recreation: Multiple pools and water features dominate the recreation options at several parks. One camper at Jamaica Beach described, "We enjoy the lazy river, putt, putt, and kayaking on the bay. It is an easy walk to the beach." Most parks feature swimming pools rather than natural swimming areas.

What campers like

Cleanness standards: Brazoria Lakes RV Resort maintains high cleanliness standards according to visitors. One reviewer stated, "Beautiful resort! Stocked fishing lake, swimming pool, game room, gym. Beautiful outdoor kitchens w/TV's." These amenities remain well-maintained throughout the season.

Staff assistance: Many campgrounds receive positive reviews specifically about management. At Gulf Coast 5 Star RV Park, one camper shared, "She waited on us even though we were much later than we told her we would be! Maria and her Husband gave us a great spot last minute and helped us (it was our first time at an RV park)."

Food options: On-site and nearby dining receives consistent mentions. A Blue Water visitor noted, "Very Clean well kept park, food was very good including the Lemon Drop Martini's." Many parks either offer on-site food service or have dining options within short driving distance.

What you should know

Heat considerations: Shade coverage varies significantly between parks, with most offering minimal natural shade. A Blue Water RV Resort visitor explained, "It's super hot and no shade. We're from NC and never have been to Texas. So it's insanely hot." Summer visitors should prepare for direct sun exposure.

Bathroom distance: Facility spacing impacts convenience at larger parks. At Jamaica Beach, one camper reported, "A real downer for us was that the bath house was far from our site. We had a pop-up so that was inconvenient." Park layouts often prioritize RVs with onboard facilities rather than tent campers.

Reservation policies: Some parks operate with extended-stay focus. According to one review of Bayou Oaks RV Park, "I wanted to make a two day reservation for a business trip. The online system would not work so I called and found they are for long term only." Verify stay requirements before planning short trips.

Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Jamaica Beach RV Resort offers extensive family-friendly recreation options. One visitor reported, "Huge resort campground with lots of amenities. Putt putt, a couple of pools, a pond, hot tub, laundry, camp store." The facilities support multiple days without needing to leave the property.

Splash features: Water play areas provide relief from heat for children. A Jamaica Beach camper shared, "This place is amazing, it literally has everything! 2 hot tubs, 1 indoor and 1 outdoor, 2 pools, 1 lazy river (so relaxing), 1 miniature golf course, 1 duck pond, 1 outdoor movie screen, 1 Pavilion with grills, and an awesome splash pad for the kids."

Scheduled activities: Organized programming enhances family stays at select parks. According to one reviewer, "The park runs activities all day for the kids but most are already engaged in one of the pools." Check activity calendars when booking to align with programming.

Tips from RVers

Site spacing: Most RV parks in the region feature close site spacing with limited privacy. One camper at Jamaica Beach noted, "Definitely resort-y, lots of fun things to do, very well kept, and very clean! Not for those looking for nature camping experience as you are close from neighbors (mostly big rigs)."

Extended stay options: Angleton RV Park & Resort caters to longer-term guests with different rate structures. A visitor explained, "Same RV park preferring long stays but allows short term, $175 week w/electric, $400 plus electric monthly." Monthly rates may offer significant savings for extended visits.

Electric costs: Monthly electric expenses can significantly impact budgets for extended stays. An Angleton RV camper noted, "My only complaint is the electric is expensive for me, but I was home all the time and had 2 AC's and used electric heaters." Budget for higher utility costs during extreme temperature periods.
