Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

Great rv campground close to airport

Great campground with wonderful staff who are very friendly. Full hookup, paved sites with heated saltwater pool and hot tub, workout facilities, clubhouse with games and puzzles, laundry facilities, a small camp store, and pet friendly with two small dog parks. The best thing about the location is that it backs up to Tom Bass park that has wonderful dog parks along with playgrounds and frisbee golf. Would definitely be staying here again!

    Traders Village RV Park

Houston, Tx…..Nothing to get excited about

It’s a large campground and spaces are very small. There’s a grass strip between camp sites. No picnic tables or grills. The office gave us a map and showed us how to get to our site but virtually impossible to understand. A very nice gentleman that stayed here took us to our site. He said they have no idea how to do directions and a buddy of his really messed up his camper by trolling around looking for their site. It’s very crowded and no room for awnings or for both campers side by side to put out awnings. There is a pool but it doesn’t look well maintained and there’s absolutely no chairs. Just the pool and it’s small. Laundry room is large. There’s no dog park or anywhere to walk your dog. Signs everywhere that say no pets, yet they are allowed. The flea market is only on the wknd. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and in a nice area.

Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

    A lot of Amenities

The park is clean, but the sites are tight. The further you get to the front the louder the traffic noise is, but the sites are larger and spaced out more. It is a five and take. It has three locations with washer and dryers, two dog parks, a recreation room and easy access to Tom Bass park.

    Thousand Trails Lake Conroe

Could use updates to some sites

We spend Thanksgiving in this campground. We arrived shortly after checkin and had limited selection of sites. The person at checkin did have a good site recommendation. Beware that not all sites have full hookups. For the size of the place I would have explained small convenience store but they only had ice. Our site backed up to some trees so that was nice. Good dog park and plenty of activities available. I walk the dog a lot and run and road around the grounds needs to be repaved, lots of pot holes and uneven areas.

    South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

    7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort

Nice but lacks in a few things

The dog park is horrible. It’s all sand and no bag dispenser like other “luxury” resorts have had. The internet is not good at all…tv cut out every two minutes. Nice pool. No trash pick up on Memorial Day and the dumpster was overflowing by that afternoon. Site 55 is NOT for RVs over 36 feet. We have a 42 ft fifth wheel and it was horrible trying to get into the spot.

    Jetstream RV Resort at Waller

    Great RV park!

We stayed here for about 5 weeks and loved our stay! Lots of great amenities and awesome staff! Friendly neighbors and a lot of full timers so not a lot of traffic or noise. The park was clean with full hookups, wide roads and level concrete pads. Pet friendly- our two doggos loved the dog wash station! Highly recommend!

Guide to Cypress

Harris County Spring Creek Park offers free camping sites with a maximum stay of one week per month through advance reservations. Located near Tomball, the park features full hookups for RVs and excellent bathroom facilities. The campground is surrounded by a larger park area with playgrounds and outdoor recreation opportunities. Pet owners should note that while the park welcomes dogs, mosquitoes can be prevalent, so bug repellent is essential during warmer months.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Royal Palms RV Resort offers ponds specifically designated for catch-and-release fishing, making it an excellent spot for anglers. The resort provides "acres of land to explore with nature lovers" according to camper reviews.

Hiking trails: The well-marked trails at Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground provide accessible outdoor experiences for all skill levels. Most trails are "short (less than a mile)" and "perfect for kids," with minimal inclines and good tree cover providing shade. The trails allow leashed pets to join in the adventure.

Water recreation: Families staying at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort Waller can enjoy comprehensive water features including "water slides, pool, lazy river, fishing, golf cart rental and more." The water zone is consistently rated as a top attraction, with campers noting "the kids absolutely loved the water zone and lazy river—we literally couldn't get them to leave."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention the cleanliness of bathroom and shower facilities across parks near Cypress. At Harris County Spring Creek Park, reviewers note "the bathrooms were constantly looked after" making extended stays with pets more comfortable.

Level sites: Highway 6 RV Resort receives praise for its "level concrete pads" that simplify setup. One camper noted the resort is "very well managed and well kept" with "all paved level sites" making it easier for pet owners to establish a comfortable base camp.

Family-friendly activities: Themed events add excitement for families camping with children. At Jellystone Park Camp-Resort Waller, seasonal activities are particularly popular with campers noting "the themed activities and crafts were a huge hit, especially the Halloween fun!" including opportunities for "Trick or treating at a campground!"

What you should know

Pet policies: While most campgrounds near Cypress welcome pets, specific rules vary by location. Standard requirements include keeping dogs leashed outside vehicles, proper waste disposal, and controlling barking. Northlake RV Resort stands out with a dedicated "place to wash your dog" that pet owners appreciate.

Reservation requirements: Harris County Spring Creek Park requires advance booking through their website despite being free, with stays limited to "one week per month." Stephen F. Austin State Park can fill quickly, with staff sometimes contacting guests to "inquire when we'd arrive" if checking in late.

Seasonal considerations: Summer temperatures in this region can be extreme, so water features become essential. One camper noted their appreciation for "pools are nice" with "night swims were the best" at Highway 6 RV Resort, which offers "adult pool hours from 8pm-10pm."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Harris County Spring Creek Park provides "a playground that was so great for the kids" according to campers. The free access and well-maintained facilities make this an economical option for families looking for pet-friendly camping near Cypress.

Trail selection: For families with young children, Stephen F. Austin State Park offers ideal hiking conditions. Trails are described as "beautiful and easy to get through (marked well)" and "perfect for kids" with minimal elevation changes, allowing children and pets to enjoy outdoor time together.

Special events: Traders Village RV Park connects to a flea market, with one camper noting it's "perfect with families with kids to wake up and go shopping and cheap all day pass rides!!" The convenience of having entertainment options within walking distance makes this location popular with families traveling with children and pets.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: When camping with pets at Stephen F. Austin State Park, RVers recommend selecting sites "fairly close to the bathrooms because of the kiddos" and with "a lot of shade because it was hella hot!" The park offers pull-through sites with full hookups that accommodate large rigs including "my 44 ft motorhome and towed Jeep."

Road conditions: Construction around campgrounds can complicate access. One RVer warned about Interstate 10 construction affecting routes to Stephen F. Austin State Park, suggesting alternatives: "Recommend going to Brookshire and using FM 359 and then FM 1458 to reach Park Road unless you want to really beat up your rig."

Security features: Many RV resorts offer enhanced security measures. Northlake RV Resort provides a gated environment where campers "felt very safe and secure being here. Comfortable enough to take a walk at 5:30 am!" This can be particularly important for those traveling with pets who need early morning walks.
