Hereford City RV Park

Hereford City RV Park provides free full hookups at five RV sites located adjacent to a city park with a duck pond. The county-managed facility accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with 30 and 50 amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Additional parking space exists for dry camping when hookup sites fill.

The campground sits in Hereford's cattle country, where livestock odors carry on the wind. Train noise from nearby railroad tracks punctuates the day and night, though campers report the sound remains manageable. Local traffic uses the area as a meeting spot, with vehicles coming and going throughout the day. The adjacent park features a half-mile walking track, playground equipment, and fishing opportunities at the pond where geese and ducks congregate.

Michael A. notes the setup includes "several spaces all with water, sewer and electric - ALL FREE." The facility operates on a donation basis, with no reservation system or formal check-in process. Sites offer minimal privacy between units, functioning more as an open parking area than traditional campground layout.

For longer stays or different amenities, Buffalo Lake National Wildlife Refuge provides an alternative 16 miles east.

Campers regularly cited this free municipal spot as offering complete utilities and clean facilities. Some noted the cattle town odor and limited privacy, but most found it ideal for overnight stops.

Odd but quite comfortable

This is a five sight parking lot with free full hook ups! It across from a very nice park that has a duck pond and fishing. There is no privacy at all but despite that I got a good test and powered up my electrical things. Very nice half mile walking track and playground.

Lot of geese, but can’t complain

A little more traffic than I like, and someone charges their Tesla, but it’s not a bad place, it is Hereford TX and it’s free. With full hookups. And dumpsite, if your just passing through. Free garbage.

Great free park!

We found this place on the Dyrt app and stopped on our way back from Utah. It’s a great free place to stop. 30 and 50 amp hook ups water and dump station. The only thing I would say is that it does appear to be a spot that locals commonly meet up at for whatever reason. Not sure if it was drugs or what but we did see several cars come in hang out for about 20 mins and leave. Some would come in and park next to each other. So that was kinda weird but still giving it 4 stars because it was completely free and had everything we needed.

The best bargain campsite you will ever find

First off - nothing against Hereford, but it’s a cattle town. It smells like cattle. If that’s a problem, maybe look elsewhere. That said, this place is amazing! Several spaces all with water, sewer and electric - ALL FREE! There’s a nice pond which was completely filled with geese when I visited (Late November) but that just added to the ambiance. The space is in the town so you do get quite a bit of train, and car noise.

Great for quick overnight!

Clean, quiet, full hook up, and free. About 5-6 spots, decent space between spots. And then there’s more space to just park if the hook ups are taken. Quiet neighborhood. You can hear the trains but not bad at all. Definitely a great place to crash for a night or two, rather than Walmart. And you wake up to ducks in the pond! Will definitely send the city a donation for the stay.
