Several RV parks near Etowah provide varying levels of accommodation for motorhomes and travel trailers. Whitewater RV Park in Ocoee offers 24 concrete sites with full hookups including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. The park features level sites with fire pits. "The sites are level and concrete with a nice fire pit," a camper wrote about their experience at Whitewater RV Park. Parksville Lake RV Campground operates year-round with electric hookups and a dump station, though sites lack direct water connections. Blue Moon RV Park (formerly Overniter RV Park) in Athens includes full hookup options with 30/50-amp service. Top of the World RV near Tellico Plains provides elevated sites with electric, water and sewer connections.

RV travelers should note the mountainous terrain affects campground access in this region. The drive to Chilhowee Recreation Area involves a 7-mile uphill journey with potential tight turns for larger rigs. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area, with stronger signals near Interstate 75 and diminished coverage in more remote locations. Many parks remain open year-round, though Chilhowee operates only from April through November. Reservation policies differ between parks - some allow same-day booking while others recommend securing spots well in advance, especially during rafting season when Ocoee River activities draw crowds. A visitor commented that Parksville Lake Campground has "tight drives into the sites" despite being otherwise quiet and pleasant.

Little River Campground & RV Resort

      Such a gem!

Husband and I wanted to get away and found this campground- it is such a gem! You can't see it well from the road, but there is a huge sign out by the road. Trust it! You're in the right place. You drive across a small bridge across the Little River when you get to the campground, but it can handle big rigs. We saw many massive Class A campers while we were here for 6 nights. We pull a 30 ft travel trailer and used a pull through site- very large spot as far as rv sites go. They have back in spots for campers and tents literally on the bank of the river and you're allowed to swim, play, tube, etc in the river at your own risk. Camp store has firewood and a few essentials, but they don't sell propane. We got ours filled at the Tractor Supply in Alcoa, TN nearby. They had crafts and hayrides while we were here. Wifi is free but not great. Verizon cell service was good enough at 3 bars the whole time. No on-site laundry services, so we had to go into town to use laundromat (nearby town of Townsend is adorable but no laundromat). The grounds offer tent, cabin, and rv sites with various levels of electric, water, cable and sewer access. Our site had 30amp, water, sewer and cable. Nice and level site, large fire pit, sturdy plastic and metal picnic table and large beautiful mature trees. The bathhouse is seriously impressive and is, by far, the nicest campground bathhouse I've ever used! One of my favorite features was random and I never knew I was missing it in my life until now.. the bathrooms have strong AC pumping right into each bathroom, making everything nice and cool when you come in from the hot campsite.. wonderful! Good view of the mountains in the distance and minutes away from Great Smoky Mountain National Park entrance. This is a wonderful find!

Now called Little River Campground, absolutely wonderful!

Crossville / I-40 KOA Holiday Campground

One of the nicer KOAs - concrete pads available, private shower rooms.

KOA I-40/Crossville, TN - We stayed one night in October, full hook ups, 50 amp, good wifi until the evening but our cell service was good. $59.87 per night, $53.88 with KOA discount. Nicely maintained park with level concrete sites in the front with grass, fire rings and picnic tables that were in excellent condition. Friendly, welcoming staff with a nice gift shop/store. Hand dipped ice cream is available along with freshly made pizza and wings if you don’t want to cook. It does sit right next to Highway 70 into Crossville and can be noisy but it didn’t bother us. Each bathroom is a private toilet and shower, very clean, nicely tiled and plenty of hot water. Small laundry, two washers and two dryers but there may have been additional laundry towards the back of the park. The park seems to be broken down into three sections, concrete pad pull throughs in the front, then the office area, then a second section of sites with gravel pads and these are closest to the bathrooms, then further out is another area with a pond or small lake for catch and release fishing. Well manicured property. Would definitely stay again and the ice cream was really good.

      Chattanooga North-Cleveland KOA

      Clean, Quiet, Friendly

Friendly Staff, Clean Bathrooms, Convenient Location. No honeywagon for water and electric only sites, but dump station in campground. Some very nice private sites and none of the sites except maybe a few look very small or tight- pretty spread out. Lots of tent sites. You definitely hear the highway here, but not a big concern for us. Pet friendly with a very nice dog park. Pool for the kids. Playground is little more than a residential style wood swingset, but it kept the kids entertained.

      Cades Cove Campground

      Quite, beautiful, weekend traffic

This is one of the quietest campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Sites are nestled in the woods in a cove in the Smokies. No cell service. No internet. No cable tv. Just peace and quiet! This is a national park campgrounds, so no water, electric or hookups. There is a dump station and modern bathrooms. Cold water showers. There is a camp store with basics. There is a lot of traffic especially on weekends with visitors driving the scenic Cades Cove Loop Road.

      Talona Ridge RV Resort

      Talona Still Pleases

We arrived and had an easy check-in since this was our third stay at Talona Ridge, again to attend an RV rally. After check-in, we headed to pull-through buddy site H-25 with full hookups in the lower level of the campground, which had three levels total. The cement pad was plenty long enough to position the rig for the sewer connection at the back of the pad, while still allowing us to put the patio down and park our F450 fully on the site. Water pressure was solid at 55–60 psi. Since this was a newer RV park, there were not many mature trees yet, so satellite connectivity was not an issue. We had 3 bars on Verizon and 2 bars of 5G on T-Mobile, and we chose to use our T-Mobile Home Internet instead of Starlink, which delivered 70.1 Mbps download speeds. The campground WiFi was above average as well, testing at 64 Mbps download. There was a shower house with laundry near this site, equipped with two large washers and dryers, and the laundry app made the process convenient. We enjoyed the large dog park, along with plenty of additional areas to walk our pups. Talona Ridge had a lot to offer and remained one of our favorite campgrounds—it truly felt like a resort.

Melton Hill Dam Campground — Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)

      Beautiful and peaceful

The campsite sits right beside the Tennessee river. There are 9 full hookup sites and many of the rest have power and water. Large river swimming area. Most sites are level with concrete tables, fire pits and grills. Bathrooms are clean and adequate. Bathrooms in the day use area are less so. Store is small with snacks, ice, drinks and ice cream. Staff very nice and RV’ers themselves. Family friendly. Pull through dump site. Love Truck Stop at entrance to I-40. $ rate and honors America Pass.

    Guide to Etowah

Several RV parks near Etowah provide full hookup options for travelers exploring eastern Tennessee. Parksville Lake RV Campground operates year-round with 30-amp electric sites, drinking water, and a dump station, though water hookups aren't available at individual sites. Whitewater RV Park in Ocoee features 24 concrete sites with full hookups including 50-amp service. "The sites are level and concrete with a nice fire pit," noted one camper who appreciated the park's proximity to outdoor activities. Top of the World RV near Tellico Plains offers sewer and electric hookups with picturesque mountain views, while Blue Moon RV Park (formerly Overnite RV Park) in Athens accommodates larger rigs with pull-through sites and 50-amp connections.

Most RV parks in this region require advance reservations, particularly during summer rafting season and fall foliage periods. Navigation to several campgrounds involves narrow mountain roads with elevation changes, requiring careful driving for larger motorhomes. A recent review cautioned about Blue Moon RV Park: "The pull-thru site wasn't long enough for us to stay hooked up to our truck for the night." While some parks like Whitewater RV offer amenities including showers and Wi-Fi, others provide more basic services. Most campgrounds welcome pets with designated walking areas. Cell service varies by location, with stronger signals near Athens and spottier coverage in mountain valleys. Dump stations are available at several parks, though not all offer on-site sewer hookups.
