Great Camp Ground

Family always enjoys this campground! Beautiful spot, historic and the staff is wonderful.

Great lake front campground

Spent Fri-Sun (Aug 28-30) in site #55 on campground #1 loop.  We were on the west side of the loop and the last site directly on the water.  It is a back-in site and was wooded with a nice view.  We loved this spot, so much quieter than the rest of the loop.  This lake is all about boating so most of the sites are already packed in, then throw in most sites have a camper plus a boat on them and it can seem crowded.  From our site we could get in the water and use our SUP boards and swim around.  This spot is right between the bath house and dumpsters - about 2 min walk.  We would definately go back here and stay in the same area we were in.  There is a little beach and dock closer to the visitor center that was a 3/4 mile hike/walk each way (but we just swam at out site).

Would recommend Site #54, pull-through that will have you facing the lake and quiet.

What a great campground!

The spots were nice, large, most waterfront, with power and water. Definitely a spot I will go back to.

Great place!

Great place for kids and dogs. Most camp spots have a great distance between them for dogs to have space. Also a great place for boaters. We pull out boat right up to the camp spot. We have a truck camper a 3500 ram and our boat trailer on the site with room for two more cars if needed. The bathrooms were nice and clean as well.

Enjoyable spot.

We loved the mountain like setting right on the lake. Large camping areas that are spaced apart nicely. Plenty of lake access for kayaking and boat fishing with boat landing. Not aware of a swimming area. We will revisit.

Great Quiet Campground

We camped here just as the COVID shutdowns were beginning back March. There were only a few campers. We were right on the water. Large clean sites. Great campground. It was a cool early spring evening. We had a nice campfire and enjoyed a nice time.

Wonderful Campground and Park

We camped here back in the spring. Hiked, paddle boated, saw some gators, got some nice photos. Sites were clean, well laid out. It was a fun weekend. Staff was friendly.

BEST camping experience yet!

Hamilton Branch is amazing! The sites are all lakefront and generously sized. Plenty of paved roads for biking, and kayaking on the lake was absolute perfection! My only regret is not staying longer. Can’t wait for the next trip!

My new favorite state park

We were at site 158 and had not only the lakefront view but easy lake access at our site. Bathrooms were kept pretty clean. Some of the sites are a bit of a hike to get to the bathrooms which is why it doesn’t have 5 stars. If I could have done 4 1/2 I would have. Only thing that would make it the perfect site would have been sewer hook ups, but those are rare in the SC State park system. Only one neighbor was close enough to be sort of visible but they were rarely there. It was nice and quiet and dark at the site in the evening, which is exactly how we like it. We went swimming, floating and fishing in the lake and never had to leave the site. Just wish we had booked a longer weekend as I was not ready to leave that view!

Small but beautiful

We stayed at Magnolia Springs over Halloween weekend 2019. The park had several great activities for kids, including trick or treating and a hayride to take the kids from site to site. We were on site 1 (right on the corner) and had a view of the lake across the street.

The playground was nice, bath house well kept and not far from the site, and plenty of area for bike riding (not too many hills for the kids). I preferred a wide open site for this trip (due to trick or treating/ site decorating contest) but several had good shade, privacy, and a closer view of the lake.

The museum is fascinating (it’s locked, you pay entry at the front office and they give you a key).
