Great for an overnight stop!

The campground was clean and pleasant, with spacious, paved spots and lots of trees. While I would not make it a destination, it’s an affordable and comfortable overnight stop.

Great

Really nice campground. A lot of pull thru sites. With table, electric, water, sewer. Low lights, garbage cans. There's a BMX training facility camp at the back. Dog friendly 2 playground. One rusty and the other newer. 3 Bath houses with laundry and area is fenced in. Security patrols. Close to everything

Interesting area

Not a very scenic campsite, but it's quiet, secure, and next to all the SOTB attractions.

Roadside RV Amusement Park

If you haven’t been to a roadside circus lately or don’t want to shell out the dough for Disney World, then this particular RV amusement park location just off of I-95 and due south of the North Carolina/ South Carolina border may just be the perfect spot for you.

With a wide-array of parallel, elongated parking lanes for your parking pleasure, all of the sites come equipped with the typical 30/ 50 amp electrical hook-ups, waste disposal and water connections. There’s the standard picnic table, fire ring/BBQ, garbage receptacles, 3-4 communal bathhouses and even a handful of community BBQ’s.

The hosts, who work out of the Camp Pedro Store/ Office are incredibly nice and offer pricing by the night or week. There’s not a ton of amenities to pick and choose from– APART FROM THE NON-STOP LINEUP OF AMUSEMENT PARK options you will find everywhere! But the campground itself features 2-3 community playgrounds, group BBQ’s and the everything-you-need store. And while I looked, there’s no pool to speak of.

Insider’s Tip? Near this RV parking lot, you do have access to Betsy Jackson Bay if you want to get away and off the beaten path a bit to explore nature… otherwise, head back to Pedro’s, put on your silly hat, load up the car full of tchotchkies and get your fill of this whacky Tex Mex experience!

Happy Camping!

Always a weiner at SOB

Nice and clean campground. Very family friendly. Great ice cream shop. Fun shopping. Not much privacy is the only draw back. Great place to stop with or without children.

Campground at a Tourist Destination

South of the Border is a tourist trap, but I don’t mean that in a bad way. There are lots of things to do, and more ways to spend your money, including souvenir shops, a fireworks store, Christmas decorations, and more. If you are in the area or passing by on the interstate, it is a must see, even if it’s just to say,“I’ve been there.” I’m not sure of all the“attractions” they have, but I got the chance to visit a couple of them while I was staying there. We were on our way to Wilmington, NC, which is a LONG drive from home, so we decided to stop. The campground itself is clean and well-maintained, and there was a fence around the entire campground. There is a laundry, a playground, and all the hookups you need. However, in the background, you can hear the noise of some mechanical machinery. I’m not sure if it was a power station for the place or what, but it was bothersome. Other than that, our site was shaded and had plenty of room. Since it was in the middle of the week, we didn’t have neighbors and that helped. The bath house was modern, had tile floors, and the showers were hot. The biggest attraction for us, other than being conveniently on the way to our final destination, was the reptile museum. It claims to be the largest of its kind. It was very interesting to see the various snakes, alligators, and crocodiles. I know my grandson loved seeing all the animals. Overall, the campground was nice, but it didn’t have a swimming pool. It was adjacent to the attractions and its neon lights, and of course, my son had to buy some firecrackers before we crossed the border. I would recommend it for anybody who has not been there, but if you’re looking for peace and quiet, the noise from the interstate and the sound of machinery won’t give you any.

Convenient, clean, safe, and fun

We stopped here for an overnight and were thrilled by the facility. It’s perfect for an overnight or a day. Plenty of paved pull though sites. Fenced in and safe. You can walk to the restaurants and shops at South of the Border. We ate at a fine steak house. We will stop there every time we are traveling on I-95. I’ll add a photo in about a month when we stop there again.

Quirky and close to interstate

We just stopped for an overnight. Had a pull thru with full hookups. You def can't miss it from the road... it's got a lot of neon and a ton of sites. Would stay again if passing through for sure!

Convenience is key

Close to highway, conveniently located & open restaurants in winter. Also lots of souvenirs shops if that’s what you’re into.
