    Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages

    Great Place to Stay

My thoughts and experience of Fayetteville RV Resort. This was our 2nd time staying here, this time we stayed for a long weekend, Thursday - Sunday during the month of April 2021. It is located a short distance from Interstate 95, making it a great place to spend the night if you are traveling on to another destination. Or stay for a nice relaxing vacation like us.

Our site #27 located across from the office, pool, mini golf and bathhouse is a back-in site, gravel pad, nice, level, average length and width, fire pit and picnic table. Full hook up’s, water, sewer and electric. Also cable tv and internet with average campground WiFi speed.

Things we liked about this campground:

    • All sites seem to be gravel pads, nice, level, average length and width. Full hook up’s. I would guess half of the sites are pull though. They have sites that can handle long rigs. Also depending on your site nice shade trees.

    • The staff and the couple managing the place are very friendly and it shows that they care about the guest. The campground is clean and well maintained. Seen staff making rounds all day.

    • So much to do for the kiddos and adults. Two pools, hot tub, mini golf, basketball court, horseshoes and playground all included in your price.

    • For the adults they have a nice workout center with lots of equipment.

    • During our stay they had scheduled kid activities and movie night with popcorn.

    • On Friday evening they had a food truck scheduled for dinner.

    • We really liked the “Meet Your Neighbors Happy Hour”, they really wowed us with this event. It ends early enough that you can still have a quiet evening around your camp site. Check their activities list for schedule.

    • Saturday morning they had a Waffle breakfast.

    • Two large fenced dog parks, one located at each in of the campground.

    • Two fishing ponds and dirt walking trail though the woods and around ponds.

    • Two newly remodeled bathhouses and laundry rooms. Staff keeps them clean though out the day, we never had an issue with dirty or un-stocked bathrooms.

Verizon cell phone service was great.

Local Eating Places: Nothing special, Waffle House, Subway, Foxes Pizza and a corner grill all within 10 minutes away.

Attractions or things to do in the area: Averasboro Civil War Battlefield and Museum is only 9.6 miles. There is around 10 historical sites along the route that is connected to the history museum. In Fayetteville about 15-20 minutes there is a lot to do and see.

    Winter trip

Nice family friendly campground. Plenty of things to do for the kids. Water park, swimming pools, playgrounds, laser tag area. Golf carts are of you both for the rent. Nice size convenient store you can also purchase homemade ice cream. Pet friendly with two dog parks.

    Spacious Skies Sandy Run

    Phenomenal Stay — very peaceful!

Phenomenal stay at Lazy Acres. Very peaceful, despite being within a mile from Fayetteville Regional Airport.

Great service. Allowed my 38 Trailer to maneuver against traffic and park in the newer section that is Big Rig friendly. Full Hooks Ups, Pool, Peaceful Nature trail (about .5 mile), Laundry and Bath house. Concrete pad for outside area, bricked fire ring, and pretty level sites.

We had our 3 kiddos there and they had a blast at the pool, but the setting is perfect for adults who just want to enjoy a quiet evening.

    We will stay there again.

Cheraw State Park Campground — Cheraw State Park

    Off season gem!

Didn’t have any expectations of this place since it’s in the middle of nowhere and not many photos. We loved it here. We were lucky enough to catch a great view of Jupiter merging with Saturn last night. Super cheap. We stayed four nights for under $100. 30/50 hookups and water. No sewer but very close dump station in campground. Primitive camping area for tents too. Pull through sites and back in. Spacious sites that feel nicely private surrounded by evergreens which is a nice relief in winter to see trees with leaves. The lake is beautiful. Awesome walking trail that takes you to the other side of the lake where there is a playground. Lots of swings and benches and picnic tables around. Barely anyone here in December, so it feels so nice to be out of our house but not needing masks constantly. When it isn’t off season they have cheap boat rentals. Firewood is $6.50 per bundle.

Laurel Lakes Campground and Music Park

    Needs updating

On a positive note, they were able to get us in and we checked in 7 o’clock in the evening. They were easy-going for coming and going. the owner was very kind.

the cost is $40 a night for full hook up. We have a big rig and when we got there, a long term resident helped back us in. It seems that most of the people there are long-term residence. Unfortunately, the lakes were dried up, so no fishing was available. The bathrooms reeked of smoke and were filthy. The laundry room was available and we did three loads of small amount of laundry. It took two runs through the dryer each. The main building was not open while we were there. I think they are working on things, but as of right now if you need a place to park, they likely have availability.

    Florence RV Park

    Drive-By RV Parking Lot Community

This spot is so close to I95 (look for exit 169) that you’ll both feel and hear the swoosh of passing by traffic 24/7. So, while you’ll incur ease and convenience, that will come at a cost (privacy and quietude being what you will sacrifice most).  Located in the NE pocket of the Palmetto State, Florence RV Park, while not a destination per se, could be a nice (and incredibly easy) layover on your trip destination to anywhere else up or down this major east coast highway artery.

Despite the location, this spot has a lot to offer: an intimate little public pool behind the management office, WiFi hotspots, dog park, scattered picnic tables (in pretty good condition), kid’s playground, 20 / 30 / 50 amp hook-ups, dump station, dog walk area, catch & release fishing pond, propane refueling station, vending machines, small pond for fishing, basketball court, volleyball, badminton and horseshoe rings. There’s even 4-5 log cabins for rent at the front of the property (with full access to all the highway noise) and of course, good old fashioned on-site laundry facilities along with a mini-store that has most of the basics covered as well as fairly spartan shower / bathing facilities.

Insider’s tip? Here's a few: (1) The further east you are on the property, all the better as you’ll be positioned as far away from I95 traffic and noise; (2) If tent camping, I highly recommend spots #A7 – A13 and if you are RV’ing I recommend #L9 – L18 as well as any of the locations on J, K and F11 – F16; (3) There’s a lot to explore near here, from the Grand Strand of South Carolina, of course, Myrtle Beach and even Darlington Raceway, so if you don’t mind the overpopulated location with its westerly view of non-stop traffic, then this could be a good place to stop for the night or from which to launch your exploration of the area; (4) If you’ve looked at this RV campground’s website, don’t be fooled by the pictures – I don’t think any of them were actually taken of the place, save for the pond, and that was a close-up; and (5) If you are looking for a nearby spot to sample the local fare, I recommend checking out The Drive-In Restaurant with its 50s era nostalgia, big juicy burgers, fried everything, homemade onion rings and thick, creamy chocolate shakes.

    Happy Camping!

    Spacious Skies Sandy Run

    Not as described via website.

We were so excited to find a campground for the weekend, close to our son’s wrestling tournament location. Unfortunately the pictures definitely depict a campground way nicer with more amenities than we seen or were available for use to us. Although we picked a pull through site with a concrete patio, picnic table and nice blocked fire pit (on the website), it had no fire pit at all, not even a fire ring. When brought to the attention of the front office we were told “we don’t run the website” & “if you would have let us know we would have found you a fire ring”. We assumed since check in was 3pm the campsites were checked to make sure they were left clean and had everything mentioned. There was tons of other spots open with the blocked fire pit and other with fire rings only. When you pick and pay for a nicer site that’s what you expect to get. We checked in within the last hour they were open due to the tournament and the next morning we left again for the tournament so we really had no time to bring it to their attention until the day we checked out. There was no dog park that we seen, whatsoever and our “nice view by the wood line” was literally a few scattered trees with a view of “keep out” signs and equipment for upkeep behind it. I will mention this is January so everything is dead but I can’t imagine even in summer with the small amount of trees, fully bloomed, it would hide the equipment back there and make for a nice view. I seen no signs for a walking trail nor a catch and release pond. Maybe there was such but I didn’t notice anything on our walk to or from the jump pillow/camp store. The camp store hardly had any supplies.. again this could have been due to the time of year. This campground is riddled with obvious long timers/year round campers, which is cool but at least put them in separate areas from your short timers. Although they have a small book worth of rules/terms to abide by while there,, the quiet hours are not abided by at least not in the area we were in,, it was football games, drinking and pot smoking until well after quiet hours. We’ll search elsewhere next month/time.

    Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages

Friendly and helpful in a time of need

We came here the day we sold our house in Fayettville. Covit19 had just hit so the campground we had reserved fell through and couldn’t get tenants to leave because they were scared. We were in for a surprise, Fayetteville RV resorts welcomed us with open arms and put us under a long term clause so we couldn’t get thrown out if they shut everything down. 600 a month is more than reasonable for the area. The staff is super and they keep the camp ground top notch.

The bathrooms were immaculate. The Landry rooms were great, little expensive but I get it, they are high maintenance with all the visitors. The hiking trail had all kinds of wildlife and a small damn on it. We walked it every day for 2 months and it was great. All the neighbors in the long term area were like family. I loved this place! They will not disappoint!

Guide to Lumberton

Camping near Lumberton, North Carolina offers year-round access with a mild climate that averages 70-80°F in summer and 50-60°F in winter. The region features a mix of piedmont and coastal plain landscapes with sandy soil conditions that provide good drainage during the frequent afternoon thunderstorms common from June through September. Most campgrounds in this area maintain open status even during winter months when temperatures rarely drop below freezing.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The pond at CarrollWoods RV Park at Grapefull Sisters Vineyard provides on-site fishing without requiring travel. "There's a pool that was unfortunately out of service during most of our visit there during the 90-degree heat. It was finally open when the weather cooled... Lots of room to walk with a few short paths that go into the woods," reports camper Nancy C.

Military sights and sounds: At Smith Lake Army RV Park, visitors experience unique military surroundings. "Next to Simmons Army Air Field so, expect whirlybirds at all hours buzzing the CG. All the sounds of freedom are to be expected and enjoyed," notes Clean Slate D. The park also features "hiking trails are great and easy to get to. Reminds me of Sgt time training Thursday's, lol. Great swampy and peidmont preservation area."

Farm animal interactions: Children can enjoy animal encounters at several rv campgrounds near Lumberton. North Carolina families particularly enjoy Double L Farms Campground where one visitor explains: "If you have a family with small children, they will love the horses, chickens, guinea hens, and the couple of friendly cats and dogs that they own."

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention bathroom cleanliness as a priority at Lumberton, North Carolina RV parks. At Bass Lake Campground, visitors appreciate "Great camping off I-95...What a great little campground! We were so pleasantly surprised to find this gem on our way north. Very well kept and CLEAN! The showers and bathrooms were spotless."

Community activities: Fayetteville RV Resort & Cottages offers organized social events throughout the week. "We really liked the 'Meet Your Neighbors Happy Hour', they really wowed us with this event. Rural setting: Many campers value the peaceful countryside atmosphere. One Double L Farms visitor wrote, "Brian and Lisa are some of the nicest people I've ever met, Lisa is the epitome of Southern charm and hospitality... Their place is a lil slice of heaven and a welcome escape from the world let their animals sooth your whoas and leave a better person."

What you should know

Variable Wi-Fi quality: Internet access can be unreliable at rv campgrounds in Lumberton. North Carolina travelers should prepare alternative connectivity options. One CarrollWoods camper noted, "I wish businesses would not promote poor quality products as 'free'. I probably could access their WiFi no more than for 3 times in all the time I was there and would last no more than 10 minutes."

Weather impacts: Summer heat can affect facility operations. "There's a pool that was unfortunately out of service during most of our visit there during the 90-degree heat. It was finally open when the weather cooled," reported a visitor at CarrollWoods.

Military noise considerations: At Smith Lake Army RV Park, campers should expect regular aircraft activity: "This campground is near a military runway so be prepared for loud aircraft noise as well as other military installation noise." Many visitors consider these "the sounds of freedom."

Tips for camping with families

Animal encounters: Children particularly enjoy farms with livestock. At Double L Farms, "Brian took our two year old on a tour of their amazing farm — horses, cows, ducks, chickens, and all the tractors of our toddlers' dreams ... we felt like houseguests of old friends," shares one parent.

Activity planning: Pack accordingly for the range of activities available. At Willow Tree RV Resort, families find "Family events, ice cream social, hot dog sales, dance party and nice clean bathhouses. Close to amazing seafood. Huge facility but, not crowded."

Seasonal events: Holiday weekends feature special programming. One visitor to Willow Tree noted their Halloween celebration included "an arts a crafts event... trick or treating was awesome for the kids, adults, and puppies. We briefly went to the Halloween bash but hurried over to go on the haunted hay right through the forest. It was really well done!"

Tips from RVers

Overnight convenience: For travelers along I-95, Bass Lake provides a strategic stopping point. "Being only a couple hundred yards from 95, you do here traffic noise. Quiets down during the evenings," notes one RVer, adding "Would definitely recommend for an overnight stay."

Site selection: At Fayetteville RV Resort, site placement matters. "Our site #27 located across from the office, pool, mini golf and bathhouse is a back-in site, gravel pad, nice, level, average length and width, fire pit and picnic table. Full hook up's, water, sewer and electric," reports one camper who appreciated the location near amenities.

Fire restrictions: Some campgrounds prohibit open flames. While most allow campfires, certain properties like Spring Valley RV Campground have strict no-fire policies to comply with local regulations or property safety standards.
