    Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park in Williamsport MD

    KID FRIENDLY

    This is a huge campground geared around kids. We didn't bring any with us this time and were just staying here overnight. We are in pull through site 753, pretty level gravel site, full hookups, picnic table and fire ring. The site wasn't well cleaned, grease dumped in the gravel, dead grass, lots of stink bugs! Also had to finagle the cable line to get it to work. There are very clean showers and restrooms, large camp store, restaurant, mining for kids, Waterpark, and pool. Many cabins, pull through, back in, and tent sites.

    Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

    Awesome campground while exploring Gettysburg Battlefield!

    We couldn't have been more pleased with this campground! The usual variety of sites, back-in and pull through, 50/30/20 amp service with full hookups.  Cable has the usual channels, about 20, available for $2.00 per night.  WIFI is free and we had good service, even though we were quite far from the office.  The site was level and needed no additional blocking, a fire pit and picnic table with ample outdoor sitting room.  A wooded setting gave plenty of shade and lent to the atmosphere of having more room than we actually did.  Located about 4 miles from town it is far enough for that country feel but close enough to be convenient.  The camp store was well stocked with basic needs as was the gift shop.  Trash is picked up daily, just leave it at the entrance to your site when you leave in the morning.  Cell service wasn't the best, Verizon had about 2 bars.  I can't say enough good things about the staff, from check-in and being escorted to our site with help backing in to filling up the propane on the way out everyone was courteous and helpful.  We felt secure at all times, and noticed a staff member frequently driving through on a golf cart.  A dog playground, kiddie playground, pool, putt putt, and other activities for the family.  All in all a very positive experience and a definite thumbs up for this campground!!

    Twin Bridge Campground

    Great Site, Great Staff

    Took our new Fifth Wheel for a shakedown trip and decided to try Twin Bridges Campground. Staff was polite, amenities are great and clean, and everyone was friendly and polite. Big spacious sites, and a honeywagon to make things easier (there weren't any full hookup sites the I saw besides the long term spaces). Would definatley stay here again.

    Little Buffalo State Park Campground

    A Hidden Gem In Central PA

    The campground has approximately 35 sites, most with water and electric, which is rare for many PA state parks. The sites are mostly level, gravel, and good sized for averaged sized RV’s. Larger rigs may have some issues with site length on a few sites, so check ahead of time, but there are a couple pull through sites. Fire rings and picnic tables are at each site, but no wifi in the campground area. We did have cell phone service at our campsite.

    The sites along the outer side of the look are more wooded than the inner sites.  The bathhouse is modern, very clean and well maintained. A playground is near bathhouse in the campground, along with several hiking trails. The dump station is easily accessible. Firewood is also available for purchase at the campground.

    The campground is located across the road from the actual state park, which is beautiful and well maintained. A large lake is the centerpiece surrounded by multiple hiking trails, picnic areas, and a large swimming pool/aquatics area (in season). The road going to the park and campground is well maintained, with very wide shoulders for easy access, biking, and running. Fishing and boat rental are available on the lake.

    We had a wonderful weekend at LBSP and plan to include it on our “Go-To” places to visit and camp.

    Gettysburg / Battlefield KOA

    Camping Gem Near the Battlefields

    We had a great stay at Gettysburg/ Battlefield KOA Holiday in Gettysburg, PA. 

    We stayed in a level pull-thru site(#14) with deluxe picnic table, swinging Adirondack glider, and fire pit. The site was big enough for our motor home and Jeep. Full hook-ups with 50-amp service. 

    Lots of mature shade trees made the site more comfortable given the July heat. The paver patio with seating and natural landscaping with well-placed boulders made it quite comfortable. 

    Wow, what a great place to stay when visiting the town of Gettysburg and nearby battlefields. 

    From the escort to our site and friendly interactions with the staff, we immediately felt at home. The site was covered with clean gravel(which I like to keep sand and dirt outside), the camp store was well-stocked, the pool was inviting, the utilities all worked great, daily trash collection was convenient, immaculate landscaping, and a 2:00 PM check-out make this place a gem when visiting the Gettysburg area. 

    Just 15-minutes to historic sites, restaurants, and breweries. 

    Everything seemed clean and well-maintained. 

    Bottom Line: This is a great campground in a great location and we can’t wait to go back!

    Happy Hills Campground

    Lots of regulars

    So this is my second time at Happy Hills Campground in Hancock, MD from June 25th-28th. It being relatively close to the home is the reason for choosing it because of doctor appts for the kids.

    The site I was in (F1) was really small and very close to the neighboring site. We got lucky no one was camping next to us. It had full hook-ups (30amp/water/sewer) and a pull thru site with picnic table and fire ring. It was $40/night. This campground is mainly for monthly site rentals with more than 3/4 of them permanent sites.

    Lots of golf cart and ATV traffic with no quiet hours that I am aware of. We weren't informed the pool would be open and you had to sign up for two hour timeslots to get in. This must have been information only available to the regulars here. Also cell service (Sprint roaming most of the time) is terrible and the campground wifi is spotty at best. The camp store was closed due to COVID so if needed anything you had to go to town.

    Bathrooms were clean. Never checked out the showers but heard they were free.

    Overall, I wasn't a happy camper. I don't think I will be back.

    Black Moshannon State Park Campground

    No cell, no problem!

    General: 73-site campground; most have electric hookups, and some are FHU. Pets are only permitted at selected sites. There are also 20 (13 rustic and 6 modern) cabins. Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent (Verizon). 

    Site Quality: Pads are gravel and most appeared to be level. Site 70 was at the end of the loop which is why we picked it. A picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook complete each site. 

    Bathhouse: As has been our experience in all PA state parks, the bathhouse was pristine, and the shower (for no additional cost) was clean with plentiful hot water and was very much appreciated. 

    Activities/Amenities: Coin-operated laundry. A playground is in the campground and there is an additional one at the swimming beach. The swimming beach is open from mid-May to mid-September, from 8 am– sunset. Electric motorboats are permitted on Moshannon Lake. Boat rentals are available in season. Permits are required. 24 miles of hiking trails, including two trails directly from the campground to the lake. In the summer, there is a camper store/concession stand. Hunting is allowed in season. There are 4.3 miles of mountain biking trails. 

    I used to think Oregon State Parks were the best, but Pennsylvania State Parks have them beat by a mile. We have yet to be disappointed by the amenities(especially the clean bathrooms) offered at the half-dozen state parks we have visited so far.

    Cowans Gap State Park Campground

    Great state park in southern PA.

    We stayed in camping area A during mid April this year. It was a nice state park. Hiking, fishing, a lake, long creek. Clean bathrooms, heated bathhouse. Our site was #80 and had electric on it, water was just across the road. It was level, with a picnic table and fire ring. The ground was some pretty aggressive gravel, but it kept the ground pretty dry, and it had rained a fair amount in the days before we arrived. Very spotty cell service with T-Mobile. Some spots were more level than others, and others, some looked tricky for larger trailers. Weather was all over the place (as to be expected in this area in mid April. Had all four seasons in 5 days. Would revisit for sure. Totally forgot pictures of the site, but it was pretty typical for a state campground.

Site Spacing: most very nicely spaced Site surface: blacktop Reservations: Yes Campground Noise: Very quiet Road Noise: Only a bit in first few campsites Through Traffic: no problem Electricity: No Water: Spigots at bathhouses Sewer: No Dump: No Generators: 6 AM to 10 PM Bathroom: Old but very clean.
