Whether you're launching a kayak on the Delaware River or hiking the red-dot trail to Mount Tammany's summit, Dingmans Campground sits within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area and provides direct access to both water and mountain activities. The National Park Service facility features electric and water hookups alongside primitive options, accommodating RVs and tent campers across spacious sites.
Campers consistently note the cleanliness of facilities, including restrooms and portable toilets throughout the grounds. "Amenities were very clean," reports Amanda K., who also mentions "even the portapot we used was very clean." The campground provides gravel parking areas and fire pits, though some sites lack picnic tables. Two kayak launches offer Delaware River access for paddlers.
Wildlife sightings occur regularly through the forested sites, with deer frequently passing through camping areas. Cell service remains limited, creating an environment where campers disconnect from electronics. The campground fills quickly during summer months but sees lighter use in spring and fall. Road access can be rough, particularly during wet conditions.
Sites accommodate large groups, with ample space for multiple families per site. The location serves as a base camp for exploring the broader trail system and accessing Dingmans Shallows Campground — Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area for additional options. Reservations help secure preferred sites during peak seasons.
Description
Dingmans Campground is a 65-acre, 134-site rustic campground located along the Delaware river in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA). Our location offers visitors easy access to all aspects of the nearly 70,000 acre DWGNRA, including the 32-mile McDade trail that runs through our front entrance, 40 miles of the pristine Delaware river which visitors can access through our boat launch, and several waterfalls and historical sites located within a few miles of our entrance.
Visitors can select from spacious tent campsites located within old growth forest, relaxing river campsites located along the Delaware, or easily accessible RV sites nestled in the forest with water and electrical hookups on-site and central dump stations located near the bathhouses. We also offer a camp general store selling snacks, supplies, and souvenirs and have bike rentals available as well.
Come and visit us at Dingmans Campground to see all that the DWGNRA and the Pocono Mountains have to offer. Camping, hiking, fishing, biking and more await you in a lush and picturesque location!
We currently do not offer public wifi and are located in a cellular dead zone and we are a dry campground. We love this feature of the campground because it offers our guests a true opportunity to unplug and relax in nature, but we also understand it is important for trip planning considerations.
