Mt. Hood National Forest manages these dispersed sites along the eastern shore of Timothy Lake, accessible by a short walk from a parking lot less than a mile away or via a 7-mile route along Trail 528 on the west shoreline. Sites are first-come, first-served and require a self-issued permit left on-site. The nightly fee is $10, though it was waived in 2025 due to bathroom closures. Parking costs $10 or is free with an America the Beautiful or Northwest Forest Pass. Amenities are minimal: pit toilets, picnic tables, and campfires are permitted, and dogs are welcome. Summer weekends draw crowds. The lake gives access to swimming, boating, and fishing, and sailors have noted the evening winds as particularly reliable. Campers who want to explore dog-friendly campgrounds near Mt. Hood National Forest will find several other options in the area, including nearby Timothy Lake West Shore Campground to the southwest.
