    Rocky Point (ft Gibson)

    Beautiful Lake Shore Campground

Ft Gibson Lake near Wagoner Oklahoma offers six class A campgrounds for RV and tent camping, six marinas, multiple boat ramps on 19,990 surface acres of lake with 225 miles of shoreline. Our visit was to Rocky Point COE with a gated/staffed entry station, multiple camp hosts, day use areas, boat ramps, interior paved roads, RV concrete pads, large table, fire ring, grill, lantern holder, 50/30/15 amp electric and water on class A sites plus tent camping sites complete with shelters, tables, fire rings, grills, dispersed water spigots. The campground had a dump station, bath house and several trash receptacles. Most sites were on the water or had a water view and adequately spaced to enjoy the amazing sunrises and sunsets. We enjoyed site 2A which was a level pull through and big rig friendly. The rocky shoreline is a birders paradise...we had an eagle, three Great Blue Herons and plentiful hawks to name a few. The town of Wagoner has all the essentials to include grocery, fuel, dining and yes, Walmart. Verizon cell coverage was 1- 2 bars. The America The Beautiful Senior Pass is good for 50% camping discount. Recommend a look at Google Maps to plan your route into the campground from Oklahoma Hwy 69 as Garmin and Google are a little wacky. Just follow the signs!! 8568 STATE HWY. 251A, Wagoner, OK 74434 GPS- 36.027978,-95.314844

Campers must occupy the campsite at least once during each 24 hour period.

Lake Eufaula is a reservoir on the Canadian River which is upstream from the confluence with the Arkansas River. It is the largest capacity lake in Oklahoma. It has 800 miles of shoreline. The building of the dam began in 1956 and completed in 1964. The Wildlife Nature at the Eufaula State Park is amazing well worth a visit. You will find miles of hiking, biking, ATV, and equestrian trails in the 31,800 acres. There is a great amount of hunting for quail, deer, geese, and duck. Another great stop is the Eufaula Area Museum(temporarily closed due to COVID). An extra little tidbit is that Dirty Jobs filmed “Worm Dung Farmer” in Eufaula on November 14, 2003 and in Season 2 Episode 9 called “Dirtiest Water Jobs” featured “Catfish Noodling of Eufaula.

The lake draws fishermen to test their mettle at large and small mouth bass, Kentucky bass, crappie, catfish, sand bass, strippers, and others. The draw for this area is the great outdoors. Mainly fishing and boating. Fishing tournaments are plentiful. Shopping of just about any type should be far down the list for entertainment. Plan to have a relaxing and peaceful stay.

    Springhill

    2 Days Nice

A little older of an area. Stayed in site B10. Close to level. We have a 36' 5th wheel, tow vehicle, plus another vehicle. Easy entry into site and large enough for all vehicles. Asphalt with concrete patio. There is a picnic table and fire ring. 50/30/20A We can kind of see the river from this site. Very roomy sites in the woods with plenty of shade. Mostly dirt ground. Older but clean restrooms. We didn't use them. There are single person combined toilet and shower rooms at the front of park. There are mountain bike/hiking trails all over, even a little bike park with ramps and jumps. Playground and boat ramp. No sewer hookups, but there is a dump station. Lots of mosquitoes in the evening. Although some sites need maintenance and the restrooms are old, this is a nice park. We stayed 2 days and would definitely stay again.

    Crossroads RV Park

    5 stars all around!

I currently stayed at Crossroads RV Park and I have to say it was one of the best tenting experiences I've had in a long time! The park is well-maintained and the sites are spacious and clean.

I specifically appreciated the drive-in access, making it easy to park proper next to my site. One of the things I loved about this campground is that it offers both tent sites and RV sites, making it accessible for all types of campers.

The electric and water hookups were reliable and the sewer hookups made it easy to take care of waste disposal. Plus, the pull-through sites and big rig friendly features were a definite bonus for those with larger vehicles.

The amenities at Crossroads RV Park were also great. The toilets were well-maintained and easily accessible, and there was even WiFi available(although the strength varied). I was pleasantly surprised to find that my Verizon and AT&T signals worked well at the park too. Lastly, I have to mention the friendly and helpful staff.

They were always available to answer questions and provide assistance when needed. Overall, I would highly recommend Crossroads RV Park to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience.

It's a wonderful place to stay, with a great location and fantastic amenities. I definitely recommend visit this park!

    5 stars all around!

    Sallisaw-Fort Smith West KOA

    Convenient to I-40

This is KOA, not my favorite place to stop, but they have good, basic facilities, sort of like Motel 6. They are just off I-40, so it was convenient for a one night stop. The sites were level, and were Pull-Thru so we didn’t even unhook. Full hookups, Some shade, a dump station. The shower/bathroom was clean. There is a small store. They also have cabins and tent sites; Free Wi-Fi, cable tv, a pool and playground, and a pond for fishing. There is a small Kamp K9 (dog park). When we were there everything was wet, and the smell of wet creosote from the log yard next door was terrible.

    Belle Starr Park Campground

    Lake Views

This campground is a Corps of Engineers campground. As you drive in you are greeted by a toll booth building where you can either pick up your car tag or the attendant can give you a map with open sites. You must book the sites online through the recreation.gov website. The gates to this campground close at 10 pm & reopen at 6 am. In emergencies between 10 pm & 6 am you can exit the campground but can not re-enter as there are tire spikes. Check in time is stated as 6 pm and check out is 4 pm; however, we checked in around 3 pm.

There are 3 sections to this campground: west, central, & east. The central campground appeared to be the most updated with wide, concrete spaces. Trees are abundant here and provide nice shade, but be mindful of falling branches. All sites have electricity 30/50 amp. Some sites have water located on site, some have water located about 40 ft away (bring extra water hoses), and some have no water. No sewers in any sites, but there are dump stations located within the campground.

The campground has several bathhouses and vault toilets. I did not tour any of the women’s bathrooms but my husband said the men’s was dirty and the toilet would not flush.

There are two playgrounds for children and lots of sandy beach areas to swim in and set up lawn chairs, etc... The campground also has a boat ramp and courtesy dock.

We camped on site C58. The site was wide, clean, and has a concrete pad. It was well spaced from other campers and had a nice lake view even though we weren’t directly on the lake.

Pros: •Lake Eufaula access •Sites directly on the lake or short walking distance •Gated campground •Has a variety of sites and able to accommodate big rv’s •Concrete pad sites

Cons: •No sewer •Needs lawn maintenance •Bathrooms need cleaning & updating

Sequoyah State Park - Marina and Cabins

    Nice campsites!

We had never been to Ft. Gibson Lake so we thought we'd give it a go... and we really enjoyed it. We stayed at Seminole Campground in Sequoyah State Park for two nights at the end of May and had a nice time. The camp host greeted us when we pulled in and gave us the low-down and provided us with maps on the campgrounds and the area.

The campground, was really nice. It was clean, well kept, and quiet. With only one road in and out you'd think the traffic my be kinda bad, but it wasn't. It probably helps that there's not a boat ramp directly in the campgrounds. The sites were spacious and included a nice level concrete pad, a concrete picnic table, a firepit, and a lantern hook. All the sites away from the shore had sewer connections. The ones closest to the water did not, but there's a dump station right outside the campground gate.

Being kayakers we like campgrounds that have easy water access and Seminole campground did not disappoint. The water level was up about 15-20' this particular weekend which made it easy to launch/land and with floating debris due to the water level we pretty much had the lake to ourselves. There are also hiking trails in the area including a paved walking trail.

There's a convenience store a couple of miles away for ice, beverages, etc. It's about 12 miles to the nearest Walmart to pick up those things you forget... we now have dedicated camper pillows.

Since I sometimes need to login to work, I'm always curious about the wifi. While the campground itself doesn't have wifi, I was able to turn on the hotspot feature on my phone and get connected without any problems. We have service through AT&T and didn't have any issues.

The camp host told us that this campground is one of the few that stay open year round so we may be back in the fall for a different view.
