Best Cabin Camping near Streetsboro, OH

Streetsboro offers several cabin rental options within a short drive. Woodside Lake Park provides cabins with electric hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables, while Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA features furnished cabins with varying amenities. West Branch State Park Campground, located in nearby Wayland, offers cabin accommodations with access to hiking trails and lake activities. "The Deluxe Cabin has two queen bedrooms, sleeping loft, 1 1/2 baths, kitchenette, and 3 TVs located in a quiet corner with shade trees," notes one visitor about the Salem-Lisbon KOA cabins. Roundup Lake RV Resort and Countryside Campground also provide cabin options within a 20-minute drive of Streetsboro.

Cabin types range from basic rustic structures to deluxe models with full bathrooms and kitchenettes. Most cabins in the area require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when availability becomes limited. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Akron/Canton offers cabin rentals year-round, while other facilities like KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake operate seasonally from May through October. Pet policies vary by location, with some cabins designated as pet-friendly while others prohibit animals. A review of Roundup Lake RV Resort mentioned that "everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen."

Most cabins provide beds with mattresses, though quality varies considerably. One reviewer noted that at Jellystone Park, "the bunk beds have very thin RV style bunk bed mattresses. And the master bed mattress was a weak memory foam." Visitors should plan to bring their own bedding, pillows, and towels unless specifically told linens are provided. Kitchen facilities differ between properties—some offer only microwaves while others include full kitchenettes with refrigerators and stovetops. Basic cooking utensils and dishware may be available, but campers often bring their own supplies. On-site camp stores at locations like Streetsboro KOA and Jellystone Park stock essential items, firewood, and some grocery basics, with larger shopping options available in Streetsboro.

    Salem-Lisbon Ohio KOA

    A Traditional KOA Experience

This was a Fall camping experience in a cabin as we knew it would be cold in the evenings.  We also had a non-camper with us so this was a nice compromise.  We had a cozy cabin with 2 bathrooms.  We also had a small kitchen where we could cook when we didn't want to cook over the fire.  This was another way for us to social distance as COVID-19 was still an issue.

I also took photos of the camping bathrooms as each KOA does it a little differently. You will notice that the bathroom is unisex.  It is a single bathroom (toilet and shower).  This is in the center of the campground.  The bathroom photos below are not of the cabin.

The cabin you see here is the Deluxe. "Deluxe Cabin(More than two Bathrooms), Patio Deluxe Cabin(w/ Bathroom)- Evergreen KL8-9-10 Perfect for large family or two couples with two queen bedrooms, sleeping loft, 1 1/2 baths, kitchenette, 3 tvs located in quiet corner with shade trees. Sorry, Not Pet Friendly! Linens are included in all seasons except Winter. Please bring pool towels." Taken from Reservation Email.

For 2 nights it totaled $153.00 which is a good price compared to other cabins we were looking at within the region.  We could have had others camping in the tent section of the campground so it is an easy way to have a mixed crowd for a camping outing.

I did type in some information into the Special Requests within my reservation booking online, as I had a question about who had to pick up the key as a friend lived closer.  No one responded and I had to call them.

Cabins Check in is at 3PM and Check out is at 12 PM

We were able to buy firewood from the KOA camp office. They bring it to your campsite and we were able to grill hotdogs and other food items on our camp fire.  Do read the general information closely and look at number 15 for a free scoop of ice cream.

https://www.whitehousefruitfarm.com/donuts  We did a donut run and explored the farm for our outing for the day.

We also spent the day checking out a local mill https://www.millcreekmetroparks.org/visit/places/mill-creek-park/lantermans-mill/

    West Branch State Park Campground

Well kept campground with access to beach and dock

Each campsite in on a leveled cement pad and comes with a fire ring a picnic table. There is plenty of room around your site and you don't feel crowded. Most sites offer nice tree coverage for shade. The restrooms and showers are very clean and well taken care of. There is also a laundry facility and sink outside each one for washing dishes and water fountains throughout the park. There is a nice beachfront for swimming and then a dock that be reached from outside the park. A beautiful lake for kayaking or boating. The store has most camping needs in it and once a week they host an ice cream social. Has a very nice playground and a sand volleyball court. There are some hiking trails, but nothing extensive.

    Roundup Lake RV Resort

Great Lively Place with lots of Amenities

Starting off, everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen. The bed was the only detractor of our trip, as it was mostly springs. We brought our air mattress in for the second night and slept much better. The themed weekends throughout the season are fun and festive and there are a lot of activities to do and participate!

Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake

It's Easy to Love this Campground

As newbies to all things RV, we needed a place in Ohio to break in our new travel trailer. Indian Creek is family and pet friendly with all the amenities and even a great lookout spot across the street where you can take in a Lake Erie sunset. We loved the clean bathrooms and appreciated the staff's effort to maintain services while encouraging social distancing. All of their COVID-19 policies were well spelled out online and in signage across the resort so that you knew what to expect. All of the staff wore masks and bathrooms were cleaned often. Some of their usual events and programs were unavailable but they offered craft kits for children to pick up and do at their own campsite in lieu of the usual program. We enjoyed their beautiful put-put course and ice cream stand. They did not allow outside visitors in the resort. The only thing that threw us off was that the bathhouses were closed at night and we didn't know that until we tried to use them. The resort is expanding and adding new sites. They are planting lots of trees (it looked like one at each site) so the resort should become more park-like and less parking lot as they grow. We really liked the back-in sites with water and electric hookups because they were larger and more private and wooded. The fire ring was so easy to cook on that now I'm spoiled! The camp store/gas station was convenient and well stocked with camping supplies. Golf carts are available to rent if you need them to navigate this huge park. We rode our bikes instead. There is a township park just down the road towards Geneva-on-the-Lake proper that we used to spend some leisure and exercise time near the lake. We look forward to visiting this RV resort again in the future!

    West Branch State Park Campground

    Wooded Waterside Sites

Make reservations! (6 months in advance).  Waterside sites fill up quickly! Check in is very easy as you pass the camp store on your way in. All campsites have a fire ring and picnic table.  West Branch has private, spacious, shady sites. We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The shower house and bathrooms are large and clean. There is even a book exchange shelf at the shower house in case of rainy days. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers. Washers and dryers are also at the shower house. There is an outside sink to wash up dishes. Bring your boat or kayak. There are many inlets to explore or fish. There is a small beach at the campground but a larger one on the other side of the lake. There is a boat launch at the campground.  There are playgrounds for the children. An ice cream social is held on Saturday evenings that my children always love to attend. There is a newer dog park near the intersection of Rock Spring  and Esworthy roads. There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd. West Branch is our favorite campground and we make sure to visit every year.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

great spot for direct kayak/canoe put in.

We stayed in site 218. this spot is in the smaller ( less crowded) part of Jamestown campground in Pymatuning SP. it is right on the water and has an easy access area for shore fishing and entering a kayak or canoe or some other water device. the site sits on a little bay and the otherside (more crowded) of the campground is across the water. the water is a little murky/ grassy but still good entry area. the campsite was spacious for a pa state park. the site is between the lake and the road. sites 212-222 look to be on the water with boat access, but 218 has the easiest entry. 220’s picnic Bench and fire pit sit next to the water with great views, but there is little shade. 218 had a great shady spot were you can hang 3 hammocks. there is no electricity at these sites and pretty much tent only. lots of tent space. the fire ring was decent but we moved it as it was right underneath a burnt tree. 218 was ADA accessible with a nice picnic table. restrooms were fairly close. clean... outdated, but clean.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

    Another trip to Jamestown Campground

My family has visited Pymatuning park many times now and try have used a variety of spots at Jamestown campground. It is large, offering multiple options for campsite types. It’s a standard PA state park campground offering bathrooms (bathrooms are older, but are being renovated July-August 2021) showers, fire ring, picnic table, etc. Campsites J-106 thru J-116 are well shaded, but are alongside route 322 which maintains consistent traffic at all hours. If the noise is not an issue, this run of tent sites are well spaced, and offer easy access to the facilities. To be away from the road (and nearer to the lake) sites J-120 thru J-128 are closer together but can be quieter (depending on your neighbors…)

The beach area is clean, and raked often. It has a playground and volleyball court. On Friday’s they have a family movie night at the amphitheater. Most Saturdays in the summer they offer crafts and activities for kids at the beach.

The surrounding area also has plenty of activities to offer: Local restaurants, ice cream, hiking, kayaking/boating, fishing, etc.

    Atwood Lake Park Campground

    Incredible!

The Atwood Lake Campground is a true gem in a beautiful area of eastern Ohio! We’ve visited the Atwood region many times in the past but have never camped - but after this visit we’ll be back for sure. The campground is relatively new, with the campground area being completely revamped beginning in 2017. There are two overnight camping areas with seasonal sites in a separate section; we stayed in “Camp H” which is the newest area. There is a huge bathhouse with two sets of men’s and women’s restrooms and shower facilities along with a very nice laundry area. Adjoining the bathhouse area is a beautiful pavilion and children’s playground - all of which overlooks Atwood Lake. The campsites are nicely spaced though if you’re in the inner loop as we were or even some of the outer ring sites you’ll be looking right into your neighbor’s site. All sites are FHU on level concrete pads and include a metal picnic table and fire ring. If needed there are two very well equipped dump stations if you prefer to use them instead of the sewer connection at your site. Many sites are on cul de sacs directly on the lake with docks and fishing areas adjacent to the campsites. Lots of hiking trails, paved bike paths, a swimming beach and restaurant are in a nearby area. We loved the campground and will return soon!

    Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

    Great State Park Campground

We just got back from our first trip to Mosquito Lake State Park Campground. All in all, it was a great experience.

We stayed in site 67, which is a waterfront site, with electric. The water is about 25 yards from the pad, but is visible from the entire site. The site was spacious, but not as private as some of the others. There is some woods between this site and the sites on either side, but other sites are visible. The fire pits and picnic tables were staggered, so it created some distance to make it feel more private.

The campground as a whole, was very quiet. We stayed from Wednesday to Friday. The group next to us seemed a little rowdy when we first pulled in, but by 10:00 there was no noise anywhere near us.

Most sites seemed pretty level from side to side, but where we were, several had a slope from front to back. Away from the waterfront, most sites looked pretty level. The amount of space between sites varied from site to site. Some sites had woods on both sides, while others were pretty open. Some had nice large grassy areas, others were much smaller. Sites from 214-224 are in a cul de sac and are water front, but they were pretty close together with very little privacy between sites, if any. They are very close to the water though.

There are bathrooms and water scatter about, but from what I saw there was only 1 shower house.

Wal-mart and other shopping and restaurants were about 3 miles away. Park was easy to get to, only one turn for us off the highway. Lake was great for kayaking and paddleboarding. Very nice dog park in a different part of the park. There is a boat launch accessible from inside the campground.

Dump station has 2 lanes which was nice when checking out. Fresh water fill up was also located near the dump station.

Guide to Streetsboro

Cabin accommodations near Streetsboro offer seasonal access to outdoor recreation year-round. Most rental cabins in the area sit between 1,000-1,100 feet elevation, experiencing northeast Ohio's four distinct seasons with warm summers and cold, snowy winters. Several campgrounds maintain cabin rentals beyond summer, though amenities and services may be reduced during colder months.

What to do

Fishing access: West Branch State Park Campground has waterfront sites where fishing is easily accessible. "We can launch our kayaks right from our campsite. The park office loans games and sports equipment to campers," notes one visitor. Multiple inlets provide fishing opportunities with blue gills commonly caught.

Water activities: Woodside Lake Park features a swimming pond with water recreation equipment. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," explains a camper who visits regularly. The lake area includes rental options for kayaks and paddle bikes with life jackets provided.

Hiking trails: Several parks maintain nature paths accessible from cabin areas. "There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd," shares a repeat visitor. Most trails range from easy to moderate difficulty levels with varied terrain through woodland areas typical of northeastern Ohio.

What campers like

Clean facilities: KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake earns praise for maintenance standards. "The campground was clean, the bathrooms were updated and also extremely clean," reports one camper. Shower facilities at this location include 24-hour access with hot water.

Kid-friendly amenities: Countryside Campground provides numerous recreational options. "Nice park with ample parking space. Rec hall, playground, dog park. Propane is on site," notes a visitor. The campground includes a pool, miniature golf course, and scheduled activities during summer weekends.

Wildlife viewing: Many cabins provide opportunities to observe local fauna. "Every night we were visited by raccoons, they stole our trash on the first night but the other nights we kept everything out of their reach," recounts a visitor at Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA. Wildlife commonly seen includes raccoons, deer, and various bird species.

What you should know

Site sizes vary significantly: Cabin locations can range from spacious to compact. "We stayed at site 160. No electricity, no hookups, but a HUGE lakefront site," reports a West Branch State Park visitor. Site dimensions are not standardized across facilities.

Seasonal operation: Many cabin rental facilities have limited availability outside summer months. "We chose this campground based on its proximity to Brandywine Falls, Cuyahoga Falls and Chagrin Falls," explains a visitor to Streetsboro KOA, which operates from spring through fall.

Water quality concerns: Ridge Ranch Family Campgrounds and other facilities may have variable water conditions. Well water at some locations contains mineral content that affects taste and appearance. Bringing bottled drinking water is recommended at some locations.

Tips for camping with families

Early reservations essential: Book cabins months ahead for summer stays. "Make reservations (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly," advises a West Branch State Park camper. Holiday weekends typically require even longer advance planning.

Pack for varying weather: Northeast Ohio experiences rapid weather changes even in summer. "We got a huge storm the first night we were there," recalls one visitor, highlighting the need for rain gear and layered clothing.

Playground access: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™- Akron/Canton maintains play areas for different age groups. "They have an activity barn where you can make different crafts. There were daily activity offerings (rides around the park on a wagon, a firetruck ride, yogi bear visits, food truck Fridays, bingo, daily flag raising, scavenger hunts, etc.)," explains a visitor. Activity schedules are typically posted at check-in.

Tips from RVers

Elevation considerations: Some cabin areas have uneven terrain. "We were only off 2 inches side to side but front to back we had to lower the front 15 inches," explains a West Branch State Park visitor who brought an RV, noting that site descriptions may not adequately describe slopes.

Cell coverage: Verizon service works reliably at most area campgrounds. "Verizon works well here," reports a West Branch visitor, though coverage with other providers may vary. Streetsboro's proximity to urban areas generally ensures better connectivity than more remote camping locations.

Site-specific selection: Research individual cabin locations before booking. "Everyone from the employees to the other campers were super friendly! My boyfriend and I rented The Park Model Cabin which was sort of a half trailer with a full bathroom and full kitchen," shares a camper from Roundup Lake RV Resort, emphasizing the importance of specific unit selection.
