    Large Campground

Autumn is the best time to camp in Ohio. Lots of small bathrooms. Lake access. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the fact there was no quick reentry. Had to wait for rvs in front of me to register.

    Serene!

We stayed from Sunday until Tuesday and didn't want to leave! The campground offers something for everyone: playground equipment, basketball hoop and various balls, access to the river for fishing, and absolutely stunning views of the Ohio as well as the surrounding hills.

The campers were friendly. Nobody was loud and obnoxious. The owners Julie and Darcy are super nice and helpful.

We liked the campground so much we're returning in a few weeks!

Final approach/exit to the park is very steep. Beautiful sites but fairly close together. Gravelled roads and pads surrounded by forest with three small streams cutting through. Sites are not particularly level. Bathrooms are clean and the hosts are attentive. The only trash bin is near the office by the out of service pool.

    Nice but Noisy

This campground has nice big sites, not the tiny sites that some Ohio state park campgrounds have. Most of them looked relatively level. However, there is no privacy, you are smashed right against your neighbors on both sides, and some parts were essentially just an RV parking lot.

The showerhouse was fine, I wouldn't call it clean as there was hair and scummy stuff everywhere, but I was there on a fully booked weekend so I guess you'll have that. The toilet/sink building nearest to our site reeked of urine, think gas station bathroom that hasn't been cleaned in years- looked clean but smelled terrible. There was also just one pedestal sink in this bathroom, so nowhere to put your things if you want to brush your teeth, even wash your hands.

The big problem was the noise. We were there on "camper appreciation weekend" and they way they "appreciated" us was have an extremely noisy, not-very-talented cover band blare extremely loud 70s and 80s music for three hours on Saturday night. They had big speakers, amps, drum set, the whole bit. You could hear it quite clearly and loudly from every corner of the campground. I go camping for peace and quiet, to hear the crickets and birds and the crackle of our campfire. I do not want to have to endure three hours of men wailing on their guitars and belting out every top forty hit ever written by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was extremely annoying, disruptive and jarring, and took away from our camping experience of sitting peacefully by our camp fire. If I were to return here, I would call first to make sure they are not "appreciating" the campers and putting on an unsolicited rock concert.

    Great experience

Me and my partner went during Labor Day and left the fourth. We were there for three days and two nights. It was amazing. Our spot was a small walk to the water so we could fish and still keep up with the fire. We were right against the woods. There was a perfect flat spot for the tent. The trees were great cover from the bright sun. We were also able to walk to the restroom and could see the whole building from our site. We were site 009. So the bathroom was across the road. Everyone was very friendly there as well! The only downside was the grill for the fire pit. It’s at an angle so cooking on it was difficult as it was hard not to spill food

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

We used site 64 Sunday through Tuesday. The park was peaceful and pleasing as the employees and volunteers obviously take pride in their efforts. A 12-year-old was with me; she enjoyed shooting basketball and swinging at the playground. Fellow campers were quiet. I'll be back!

    Quiet little campground

The view!!!!!! Backing your camper up to the view of the Ohio River is so calming. Watching the barges going up and down is never boring. The owners go out of their way to make sure that you are ok or if you need anything.

    First Stay

This was the first stay of my full time RV life. I’m glad I started here. It’s nice and quiet. People seem to be very friendly. I use Starlink and T-mobile 5G. The T-Mobile seems to be working best here. The cell booster I have made it go from “good” to “excellent”. I was able to get a full hook up site which I wasn’t expecting. My hot water tank went out and I had to use the bath house and it got the job done. It was clean, which I appreciated. There are a lot of seasonal campers here that have permanent spots. There is plenty of hiking close by and either Dayton to the north or Cincinnati to the south for plenty of things to do.

    Super campground on the Ohio

We arrived late and the hosts were so kind and communicative. We were met at the office and given a site right on the river. We had a peaceful night and awoke to fog on the river which was beautiful and quickly lifted. A sweet kitty visited with us during our walk down to the water and breakfast. Electric and water hookups were fine and the showers were great - individual rooms with toilet, sink and shower were roomy and had surfaces for resting your toiletries. We were just passing through so only stayed one night but I’d definitely go back. Highly recommend.

    Winton Woods Campground

Can't believe this Campground is in the City!

See note about Site 50 below before you book!

Needed to stay in Cincinnatti to visit friends, so decided to check out Winton Woods and we were so impressed! We had an electric-only site, which put us under established trees. The sites with water, sewer, and concrete pads are newer and nice, but the trees are still growing. So for the summer, I'd go with an electric only site to enjoy the shade.

The campground has a nice camp store with ice cream and other camping essentials (ice, firewood, etc) and the park has a great system of paved trails around the lake. The biggest surprise was a small laundry room that I took full advantage of: the washer was only $1.25 per (small) load and the dryer was 25 cents per 8 minutes. It wasn't fancy (and didn't have a change machine) but it definitely got the job done!

Even if we didn't need to stay IN the city again, I think we'd consider Winton Woods. But for an urban campground, it was amazing!

Important Note: We stayed in site 50. There is a large dip and hill leading up to this site. I would avoid for most travel trailers. We have an Airstream Basecamp, which has an aggressive departure angle and could handle the dip, but I think it would be problematic for most trailers.

    Clean and camper ready

This is a super clean campground. Like amazingly maintained. If you are looking for a family campground I wouldn't stay here. This is not a kid friendly place. There is not space for them to run around. There is supposed to be a playground but there isn't which is why I did 4 stars.

If you want somewhere clean, to stay in your camper or just in a chair right outside, This is perfect. If you need somewhere to be for a night to leave the next day it's great.

It's not a good campground to explore or do anything at. Not a good one for kids under the age of 16, there is just nothing to do. When we were here 2 if the 3 trails were closed. We won't stay here again because it just isn't a good fit for us. But if you aren't looking for a family campground, then this is probably ideal for you.

Clean but not what we expected

Sites too close together.  Clean showers and restrooms.  Not much for a family to do.

No playground for the kiddos, a small water hole for catch-and-release fishing.

Really nice for off-site attractions (Creation Museum, Ark Encounter)

No The Dyrt discount,  Did offer Senior and Museum discount of 10%

Decent campground, has potential to be much better.

This is the 2nd time I've stayed here. I like the fact it is close by everything but feels farther away. Some of the sites are very close. This time we are right next to the shower/Bath house with bright lights basking our site with unwanted light all night long. The pool is a joke! Only allow 13 people at a time! They charge for extra cars and visitors also. I want to like this place but after two visits I'm just "meh".

    Cozy and woodsy

We had an awesome time camping here. We were far away enough from our neighbors but close enough at the same time. The shower houses are slightly sketchy. There isnt a place to keep any clothes dry and only one of three showers produced warm water. We showered in our camper instead.

This campground is a perfect getaway that's not too faraway from the Cincinnati area. Only about 45 minutes from the heart of down town, with twisting and winding roads til you get to the resort. You have the option of the lower deck (by the river) or the upper deck (by their man made) stocked pond. Amazing Ohio River Houseboat

My family of 5 stayed in the houseboat for several days, and what a wonderful unique experience.   Our family includes two adults and three kids (ages 2 to 13), and the houseboat sleeping arrangements worked out well for us (older kids sleeping in the belly of the whale...an almost cave-like experience that they loved) and wife and I sleeping in the beds towards the rear of the boat, with a pack n play for our toddler between our two beds.

The campground is on the smaller side, which is a positive as it creates a more friendly, peaceful and cozy experience.   We had the perfect weather (warm during the day and cool at night).  It rained one day, which we used to go explore the nearby State Park and grab a bite to eat in a nearby city (appx 30 min away), in addition to relaxing in the houseboat.

The campground owners and their family are probably the most down-to-earth people I've met at any campground, and they take time to get to know you and your family, and vice versa.

The campground was always clean and safe, and we stayed during a holiday weekend, where the campground was full and had numerous activities going on.  The playground was a favorite of my youngest two.

The Campground bathrooms/showers were also clean and well-maintained. The houseboat has its own shower, but it's about the size of a phone booth, which I enjoyed using, but at least one of the kids preferred more space, so the option is there to use the campground showers.

For a smaller sized campground, I was impressed with the size of the camp store and it's offerings.

Finally, the icing on the cake...the location of the campground and the gorgeous views, especially from the houseboat.  It's located between the shores of the Ohio River and a forested area.  Lots of shade and lots of scenic views.  Also, there's something both relaxing and adventurous in watching the long barges, tugboats and other boats traveling the Ohio river.  I don't know, makes me feel a little Mark Twain-ish.

I'm attaching some pictures from our trip.  The nature of where we were staying was a complete surprise for my family, so when we pulled up and I announced "a 1970's houseboat", they were super excited.  I also ordered some sea captain accessories from Amazon for us to create some memorable photos.
