Can't believe this Campground is in the City!

See note about Site 50 below before you book!

Needed to stay in Cincinnatti to visit friends, so decided to check out Winton Woods and we were so impressed! We had an electric-only site, which put us under established trees. The sites with water, sewer, and concrete pads are newer and nice, but the trees are still growing. So for the summer, I'd go with an electric only site to enjoy the shade.

The campground has a nice camp store with ice cream and other camping essentials (ice, firewood, etc) and the park has a great system of paved trails around the lake. The biggest surprise was a small laundry room that I took full advantage of: the washer was only $1.25 per (small) load and the dryer was 25 cents per 8 minutes. It wasn't fancy (and didn't have a change machine) but it definitely got the job done!

Even if we didn't need to stay IN the city again, I think we'd consider Winton Woods. But for an urban campground, it was amazing!

Important Note: We stayed in site 50. There is a large dip and hill leading up to this site. I would avoid for most travel trailers. We have an Airstream Basecamp, which has an aggressive departure angle and could handle the dip, but I think it would be problematic for most trailers.

Nice county campground

This is a nice little county campground outside of Cincinnati with easy access to the city. Prices are a little high, IMO, but the park is clean, neat, with lots of wooded sites!

Excellent location and beautiful views

I arrived later in the day after check-in hours but the campground host left a voicemail with clear instructions on what to do when I arrived. I love the location - close to a big city but far enough away to relax. The site I had was clean, included water, electricity, sewer and wifi. It was very close to a trail that went around the lake. I felt safe and it was gated. I would absolutely stay here again.

Be interested to compare winter to summer camping

So I’m sitting here right now, waiting for the trickle of water to at least put enough water in my tank to maybe have a toilet flush or two. The water pressure at the potable water outlet is barely more than a trickle and I’ve been filling up for half an hour already…and don’t even have a quarter tank yet. Big huge suggestion is bring your own water!!! It’s also 40 feet off the road, over car parking spaces which seems more than a bit odd. Tomorrow, they supposedly open the water at the full service sites but man, it’s painful right now. Pull through sites look quite nice. Book early, cause I tried all last summer to get in here with zero luck! It’s March 3, and even the last weekend of March is almost completely booked already.

Hidden Gem

Stayed at this campground 3 nights in one of their pull through RV sites. (Sites 8r and 5r) the site was paved and level and had a full hook up. The full hook up sites are in the middle of the camp, thus can be a little noisy. The more scenic sites are along the lake and are gravel and only have electricity at the site. The play ground got a thumbs up from our youthful traveler. And the park has a lovely loop for bike riding and walking the dog. Would certainly come back.

Fabulous!

We spent 3 nights here for our maiden voyage as we picked up a new travel trailer from their local dealer, “Couch’s RV Nation”.  They had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.

An urban escape

A nice and clean campground tucked in an urban area. It was mostly RVs but a few tents were scattered around. The water recreation options are great (kayaks, fishing, paddle boats) and there is a very nice paved walking/bike path and giant splash pad that’s a short drive but still in the park. This is a great place for families.

We had spot 47 which was a nice, big, shaded spot with neighbors on only one side. We had a view of the water and enjoyed our morning coffee watching fish jump and turtles swim.

Very well maintained and seemingly popular campground

This campground was packed with people, and yet all were respectful, good neighbours. We were nice and near the bathhouse (purposely, as we were here with young kids), but still not far from the playground (our younger boys' favourite part of coming!). Very well maintained, with a well-stocked shop. The well-stocked shop was especially important...the park is so well-used, that there wasn't a shred of wood to use as kindling or tinder. Some pinecones and pineneedles, but that's it. Thankfully, the shop was stocked with at least 4 different kinds of firestarters, so all are able to get their fires going. Easy check-in procedure, and easy checkout too. If I didn't have my "Cowboy Coffee" Percolator, a highlight for me would have been that the office/shop also carries coffee - both beans and brewed!

All in all, a great time by all!

We stayed two nights. Quiet, neat, clean, friendly. Pull-thru and back in sites, easy in-and-out. Take an early morning walk along the lake.

Winton woods campground

Nice campground, for a county Park. Full-hookups have little to no shade. Sites are pretty close together and small, but standard for a county Park. The electric sites are nice. Reasonable amount of shade in most. The campground is clean and well maintained. Nice playground for the (younger) kids. Shower houses are always clean and have good water pressure. The biggest downfall to this campground is the location. Just doesn't seem quite right to be able to hear city noises and (major) road traffic while camping. Other than that a decent place.

Clean and convenient

Winton Woods is located conveniently off of I 275. The sites are good size offering full hook up and electric only sites. It’s a great place for kids to play and ride bikes. They have a nice fishing lake, frisbee golf, bike and walking loop around the lake! Enjoy!

Very nice "urban" campground

Very nice campground inside the urban loop in Cincinnati. Close to everything, yet quiet and secluded camping experience. Limited number of full hook-up spots - more would make this and even better site. Get your ideal site early during busy season.

So much to do!

This is a vantastic campground with a variety of things to do there. It sits on a lake with a kayak launch site right in the campground. I like the fact that there is a walking/bike path throughout the park. It’s great for exploring. The camp store is well stocked and the staff is friendly. If it’s raining no worries. It is close to restaurants and shopping.

Love this campground for a weekend rendezvous!

Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west. The campground is also near paved and unpaved trails in the park that surround more of the lake which allows for walking/running/hiking and bicycling, fishing, small craft boating, with small craft boat rentals available at the marina. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer.

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.
