Fishing, kayaking, and a 1.7-mile paved loop around the lake give Winton Woods Campground a surprisingly full activity roster for a county park sitting roughly 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati. Anglers can cast from spots near the campground or walk to additional fishing access within the park, though the area closest to camp draws crowds, especially on weekends. Kayak and canoe rentals are available at the marina, and a boat launch sits within the campground itself.
The 123 sites here span a range of configurations: paved full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, gravel electric-only sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Shade is a real variable. The full-hookup sites in the central section have paved pads and patios but younger trees, while the electric-only sites along the lake sit under established tree cover that makes a meaningful difference in summer. Sites 1F through 25F and 1R through 12R are laid out with wide paved roads that handle big rigs without difficulty. One caveat worth flagging: site 50 has a significant dip and grade on approach that most travel trailers will want to avoid. "A nice and clean campground tucked in an urban area," as Jessica G. puts it, though Mike H. notes the city noise and road traffic are audible from camp.
Amenities include clean shower houses with reliable water pressure, a camp store stocked with firewood and supplies, a laundry room, dump station, and WiFi. Verizon 4G gets good reception on site. The store carries firestarters, which matters since the grounds are well-used and natural kindling is scarce. A playground and splash pad round out the family-oriented setup.
Reservations fill fast. Lysiane notes that by early March, the last weekend of the month was nearly fully booked, and she had no luck finding availability throughout the prior summer. The potable water fill station has also drawn complaints about low pressure, so arriving with a full tank is a reasonable precaution. No pets are allowed.
Campers wanting a less urban base in the region can browse campgrounds near West Fork of Mill Creek Lake or check out Winton Woods Campground Hamilton County Park, located just under half a mile northeast.
