Nice but Noisy

This campground has nice big sites, not the tiny sites that some Ohio state park campgrounds have. Most of them looked relatively level. However, there is no privacy, you are smashed right against your neighbors on both sides, and some parts were essentially just an RV parking lot.

The showerhouse was fine, I wouldn't call it clean as there was hair and scummy stuff everywhere, but I was there on a fully booked weekend so I guess you'll have that. The toilet/sink building nearest to our site reeked of urine, think gas station bathroom that hasn't been cleaned in years- looked clean but smelled terrible. There was also just one pedestal sink in this bathroom, so nowhere to put your things if you want to brush your teeth, even wash your hands.

The big problem was the noise. We were there on "camper appreciation weekend" and they way they "appreciated" us was have an extremely noisy, not-very-talented cover band blare extremely loud 70s and 80s music for three hours on Saturday night. They had big speakers, amps, drum set, the whole bit. You could hear it quite clearly and loudly from every corner of the campground. I go camping for peace and quiet, to hear the crickets and birds and the crackle of our campfire. I do not want to have to endure three hours of men wailing on their guitars and belting out every top forty hit ever written by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It was extremely annoying, disruptive and jarring, and took away from our camping experience of sitting peacefully by our camp fire. If I were to return here, I would call first to make sure they are not "appreciating" the campers and putting on an unsolicited rock concert.

Great experience

Me and my partner went during Labor Day and left the fourth. We were there for three days and two nights. It was amazing. Our spot was a small walk to the water so we could fish and still keep up with the fire. We were right against the woods. There was a perfect flat spot for the tent. The trees were great cover from the bright sun. We were also able to walk to the restroom and could see the whole building from our site. We were site 009. So the bathroom was across the road. Everyone was very friendly there as well! The only downside was the grill for the fire pit. It’s at an angle so cooking on it was difficult as it was hard not to spill food

Cute campground

It’s on the smaller size. Some sites are really short. Be sure to check the pad length. A lot of spies don’t have much room beyond the pad.

Well maintained, nice lake

I was able to fit my trailer and truck on the asphalt pad and then there is plenty of grassy area to spread out. The showers are low power and I only had about 6 minutes of hot water but that may have been a fluke. Overall the campground is well maintained and peaceful on a Monday during the school year. I took a short walk to the lake. It looks like it would be a good place to kayak. They do have kayaks for rent at the camp store but they look tiny like they would only hold children. The camp store is closed on Mondays. Great ATT reception. Avoid sites 42-44 unless you want to be up close and personal with the dump station.

Weekend getaway

Had a wonderful time at this campground situated along a man made lake. Would have enjoyed a renting a canoe but rentals do not start until May. Dump station is conveniently located in the center loop with potable water throughout the campground.

Great southern Ohio state park

This is a great park in southern Ohio, easy to reach, 20 minutes off the interstate 275. There are a number of good sites, but some with a significant slope that leveling would be an issue. There are a few site close to the water but are more compact. Plenty of well kept restrooms spread throughout the camping area. Bath house is clean and modern. There is potable water in multiple sites and a double sided dump station. The staff and the host are very pleasant and helpful. It's a park I will definitely return.

Great for Kayaking

This is a nice quiet park with a large lake with a low horse power boat restriction. It makes a great for kayaking or canoeing.

There are several hiking trails but it had rained the previous week of our visit so the trails were really muddy and the bugs were bad.

Overall we really like this park and what to head back and hope for a dryer trip. Also they have several geocaches in the park that we found.

Campsites themselves were clean and fairly level. We were on site 78.

Also we have Verizon cell phones and had no problem getting a signal here.

Awesome small State park

An older but updated Ohio State Park. Ran by a great volunteer staff! Nice canoe and kayaking lake, no motor lake. Fishing is good off shore or boat. Had a Bat house building event when we were there. Updated restrooms and shower house. Lots of shaded sites both 30 and 50 amps, no full hook ups, but easy to get too dump and water source for filling tank.

OK Campground

This campground was ok for tent/car camping - not much stood out.  My lot was a good size.  There is a kayak launch for campers, and there was a deck for fishing that the kids were looking like they totally loved.  It was nice to walk around the campground.

What stood out for me - Ault Park.  This was one of the prettiest parks I've been to.  Definitely worth a drive to this pretty park in a beautiful neighborhood.

Gorgeous State Park

Lovely, clean, well-kept campground. Beautiful views. Drive getting to the park was less than pleasant, through winding and super narrow roads with no shoulders.

Nice for a night

Found this campground purely by chance. My first visit. Driving on my way south. Checked in late evening would be out early. Was peaceful, spots were spaced out well. Was across from the showers, which was nice. Staff was nice after they realized I actually paid for my site. Zero cell reception but the scenery was lovely.

A real hidden gem

Throughly loved the campground. While the campground was full, you didn't feel like you were on top of others.

If you can snag a premium electric sites it would be worth it as they overlook the lake. The lake is pretty much a kayak/canoe only lake with fishing.

Beautiful setting, but...

For us this campground didn’t work, so much so we left after the first night of a 3 night stay and threw away $80 essentially. We had zero cell reception on both our ATT and T-Mobile phones (huge problem since my husband works from home), there was no water hookups (problem for a family of 6), and the nearest potable water you had to Drive careful to, and the grey tank dump closest to us was in the middle of the campground (couldn’t drive there, so not sure how that was supposed to work). If you want just electric and enjoy peaceful/quiet, this is probably okay for you, but for us we will not be returning nor recommending this campground.

Spacious campsites (not right on top of your neighbor), with beautiful scenic trails, along with fishing at two docks and dam, amphitheater for outdoor movies, can also rent canoes and beach with shelters to enjoy a cookout for the day! Lots of fun for friends and family!

Great Place to enjoy the outdoors

Amazing views of the water and surrounding wooded areas. Good place to fish for bluegill and catfish. Awesome place to swim during daytime hours, just remember to us caution and don’t go out of designated area. Nice trails for hiking or taking a cruise on your bike. Spend the night at the camper cabin or if you have an RV hookup to one of the electric sites and enjoy the sunset. Wonderful place for the kiddos to learn about the great outdoors while enjoying some family time.

Drive in spots for campers, RVs, or tents

State Park that offers a beach, canoes, fishing, and camping. Sites are drive-up with plenty of room for a tent or two and fire-rings. Some sites may have trees for hammocks. Can get loud with lots of RVs in spots nearby.

We have camped here several times in the last year. It is small enough to let my kids roam a bit on thier bikes and feel comfortable not having eyes on them 24/7. Quiet and Clean.
