      Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

      Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

      Salt Fork State Park Campground

The right side of the fork

Dog park!! and right on the lake!! Found this by mistake on our way out, and the dogs loved it. Access to lake, a beach, well fenced. I would give Salt Fork SP extra stars for this one, especially if there were campsites co-located.

Camp ground is easily accessible being just 6 miles from I70, leaving the convenience of Cambridge and city amenities close by while allowing for great trails and solitude. Stayed in campground A, and the front end has little shade, but being here in autumn was perfect for lots of sunshine on site. Sites with trees for tree tents is minimal. Drinking fountains are dispersed fairly frequently throughout campground, but RV hookups with water were limited during my stay. Shower houses and comfort houses all have flushers and sinks.

TICK WARNING!!!! After a morning hike down wooded Trail, we spent A LONG TIME pulling ticks from dogs...even though the temps were in the 30's overnight and everyone was treated with flea & tick protection.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

      Silver Springs Campground

      Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

    Guide to Dover

Dover, Ohio camping offers diverse experiences within Ohio's Tuscarawas County, ranging from family-oriented campgrounds with lake access to primitive options along historic trails. The region experiences average summer highs around 83°F with moderate humidity, making early morning and evening activities ideal during peak camping season from May through October.

    What to do

Lakeside recreation at Atwood Lake: Campers at Atwood Lake Park Campground can enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing on the expansive lake. "There is a snack shop and a full restaurant at the marina with great food, an ice cream dariette just down the road," notes Susan S., who appreciated the waterfront access.

Historic exploration on towpaths: The Towpath Trail Peace Park offers unique opportunities to hike along former Erie Canal routes. "The property line is on one of the most significant places in Ohio history. You are literally camping 200 yards from where Native American wigwams used to stand," explains Brannon M., highlighting the site's historical significance.

Horseback riding opportunities: Families camping in the area can access equestrian activities at nearby campgrounds. "Took the kids on the horse ride and they loved it. All staff were very friendly," shares Bradley B. about his experience at Canton/East Sparta KOA Holiday.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the well-maintained shower houses and bathrooms at Woods Tall Timber Resort. "Cleanest RV Resort and friendliest staff ever!" exclaims Traci B., noting how this sets the resort apart from other Ohio camping options.

Spacious waterfront sites: Lakefront camping spots receive particularly positive reviews. "The H campground loops are full hookups, some right on the water," explains Susan S., who enjoyed being able to dock her boat just 50 feet from her waterfront lot at Atwood Lake.

Hammock-friendly areas: Memory Park Campground offers excellent tree coverage for hammock enthusiasts. "The sites were primitive, which we liked and there were plenty of trees to hang hammocks," notes Zac C. about his stay at Cousins Cove, adding that there was abundant kindling available for fires.

    What you should know

Site layouts and spacing: Some campgrounds offer more privacy than others. At Salt Fork State Park Campground, Annie V. cautions, "If you're expecting any amount of privacy, think again," explaining that in the primitive camping area, "you are basically staying with your neighbors in small cleared areas where you can see everything everyone else is doing."

Seasonal timing considerations: Many campgrounds operate seasonally. Woods Tall Timber Resort runs from May 1 to November 1, while others like Canton/East Sparta KOA remain open year-round. Andrea F. notes that winter camping can be enjoyable: "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves."

Pet policies vary: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Dover require pets to be leashed. At Atwood Lake, pets are permitted in designated areas including some lakefront sites. Susan S. notes, "Pets welcome on a leash," with access to hiking trails and outdoor recreation areas.

    Tips for camping with families

Beach access: Families with children appreciate the lake amenities at Atwood Lake. "My kids and I have been coming to Atwood for the last 10 years. We look forward to it every summer," shares Leslie C., while another camper notes "Beach clean shower and restroom houses, big lake."

Community atmosphere: Evergreen Park RV Resort receives praise for its family-friendly environment. "We loved our stay. This place is so nice and clean. The staff is wonderful," reports Scott B. about his experience at this pet-friendly campground near Dover.

Multi-generational activities: Several dog-friendly campgrounds offer activities for different age groups. Ashley S. says of Woods Tall Timber Resort: "We have never experienced so much fun all in one place, from the clean swimming lake, to ziplining, to rv camping, and well kept bath houses."

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Amish Country Campsites provides basic RV services for shorter stays. Harold C. notes, "E, W and dump station," indicating the campground offers electric, water, and a dump station, making it suitable for brief stopovers.

Pad types and leveling: Concrete pads at several campgrounds make setup easier. "The sites have large concrete pads with full hookups," reports Andrea F. about Atwood Lake Park, adding that they "offer a nice laundry facility and also a small camp store."

Space considerations: Some RV sites can be quite close together. "Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us," cautions Jeffrey about Amish Country Campsites, recommending advance planning for arrival and departure.
