Several RV campgrounds surrounding Kernersville provide full hookup options for motorhome travelers. Salem Breeze RV Park offers electric and water hookups with sewer connections on relatively level sites, though with limited shade. "Salem Breeze is a no-frills RV campground with both back-in and pull-through spots that are level with plenty of room," according to a recent review. Greystone RV Park near Pinnacle accommodates big rigs with 50-amp service, full hookups, and fire pits at each site. Lake Myers RV Resort in Mocksville operates seasonally from April through November with full hookup sites, picnic tables, and a market on premises. Many sites throughout the region feature gravel pads rather than concrete, with varying degrees of shade and privacy between neighboring RVs.

Advance reservations are highly recommended, particularly during fall foliage season when parks fill quickly. Most RV parks in the region accept pets, though specific restrictions may apply. Dump stations are available at Lake Myers, Greystone, and several other parks, eliminating the need for off-site waste disposal. Cell service varies considerably across the region, with stronger Verizon coverage reported at most locations. A traveler noted that Salem Breeze is "generally overpriced for what you get, but certainly in a nice convenient part of town if you need to be in the area." Winter camping options are limited, with several parks closing seasonally, though Greystone RV Park remains open year-round. Many parks require access via local roads that may include hills or tight turns, so checking route specifics before arrival with larger rigs is advisable.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

Stopped here after our fiasco with holly bluff. Beautiful campground with trees. Very quiet during the day and peaceful. The only thing we found curious was the vehicle in and right back out activity between 10:30-pm and 1am back and forth to campers that were long term stays. Made nighttime hard to sleep in site 3 with vehicles back and forth for hours .

      Holly Bluff Family Campground

Stopped in to get a spot for a few nights nights because it said they had available rv spots Unfortunately they didn’t know which end was up and tried to squeeze us into a spot that might have hookups that maybe worked but they couldn’t be sure. It was a joke. We left after waiting several minutes waiting while they were looking for a place to maybe squeeze us in because we had a small camper. No thanks. Would not recommend staying here til they get there act together

      Ararat River Campground

      No Resort Here

This is not a resort type campground.  It is a place for people to bring old campers to live full time and long term.  The electric and water utilities are original from the 50's and there are constant problems with both.  There is a lot of unrecognized potential because the owners do not reinvest any money into anything for the campground.

Deep River Campground And RV Park

New Owners, making lots of noticeable changes for your enjoyable stay

Looking for a nice place for a camping getaway? We highly recommend checking out the Deep River Campground in Asheboro, NC. The location itself is beautiful. It is literally on the Deep River and features a hiking trail that runs along the river past the remnants of a historical damn, where a small area of rapids gently swirls around the big rocks spanning the river. There’s also a large lake with a nice grassy expanse for picnics, playing games or just lazing around lakeside. This campground has been around for a while, but it has new owners now and they are breathing some for real new life into the place. They have already made lots of repairs and improvements, and you can see more in progress. There are sites for RVs with all the hook-ups, and great primitive sites for tent camping, several located right on the river. If you don’t have an RV and sleeping on the ground doesn’t spark joy, they have a few small rustic but nicely-appointed cabins. You’ll find two pools, several covered picnic shelters, a playground for the small ones, and several options for older kids and adults to play, like a horseshoe pit and a nice game room. They also have planned activities like movie nights and weiner roasts most evenings to entertain and create community among campers. They are pet friendly and have their own pet mascots on site— a flock of ducks including beautifully colored teals and mallards. We were just there for 2 nights, but I have a good feeling we’ll be visiting there again soon. Definitely worth a visi

High Rock Lake Marina and Campground

      Like watching water boil

Was a monthly Camper when I came in to the campground. Nobody was cleaning the men’s room. No one was trying to collect the fall leaves. This is an old run down campground. I cleaned the men’s room for free because there was no staff to clean. I regret helping the owner for free on multiple occasions.

Dispersed Camping off Falls Dam Trail

Large group sites surrounded by OHV activities

This is/was marked as dispersed camping but this is primarily an OHV area, with a shooting range nearby that can be heard from some campsites. Most, if not all, of the campsites are intended to be large group sites. The empty site we found was filled with trash, discarded tents, air mattresses, and trashed electronics from OHVs. There's so much trash we would not even be able to take it all out with us if we wanted to. This may be a national forest, but it is not peace and quiet as one would expect from "dispersed and primitive" camping.

    Guide to Kernersville

RV camping near Kernersville, North Carolina includes options within a 30-mile radius. The region sits at elevations ranging from 800-1,000 feet in the Piedmont plateau with rolling hills and mixed hardwood forests. Summer temperatures typically reach 85-90°F with high humidity, while winters are mild with occasional freezing temperatures and limited snowfall.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: Cane Creek Campground offers access to lake fishing with dedicated areas for anglers. "Beautiful little park nestled into the woods! The 40s sites seem to be the best spots to get for a view or access to Lake activities," notes a camper who stayed at Cane Creek Campground.

Scenic drives: The area provides easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway from several campgrounds. A visitor to Willville Motorcycle Camp noted it's "only a couple of minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway" with "lots of great riding in the area."

Swimming: Several campgrounds in the region maintain seasonal pools. Lake Myers RV Resort features "2 large pools" according to one reviewer, while another mentioned, "There was not much at all for them to do other than play in the pool" when discussing activities for younger children.

    What campers like

Farm experiences: Some properties offer unique agricultural settings. "Ivory Clay Farm is now bookable on The Dyrt and offers a nice quiet place to rest just outside of the Winston-Salem & Greensboro Area. There is plenty to enjoy at the farm too," explains a reviewer at Ivory Clay Farm.

Wildlife viewing: Many campers appreciate the natural surroundings. A camper at Ivory Clay Farm mentioned, "We love relaxing & enjoying the bonfires, sunsets, wildlife & star gazing." The wooded settings throughout the region provide habitat for deer, birds, and small mammals.

Social activities: Organized events are common at larger campgrounds. "Fun activities... kid friendly... love playing BINGO here!!" shared an enthusiastic visitor to Lake Myers RV Resort. Seasonal programming varies by location and time of year.

    What you should know

Varying quality: Reviews indicate significant differences between properties. "This is one of the best campgrounds we've found in all of our RV travels," wrote one camper about Jones Station RV Park, while others reported less positive experiences at different locations.

Seasonal operations: Operating schedules vary considerably. One location "operates seasonally from April through November" while others like Forest Lake remain open "all year." Some amenities close during winter months even when parks remain open.

Site selection matters: Position and privacy vary dramatically within campgrounds. At Forest Lake, a camper observed their site "was on the opposite side of the real lake access and right across from the annual spots so we never really had too much privacy but most of the neighbors were very curteous and friendly."

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Look for campgrounds with dedicated facilities. "There is a putt putt course, pool, adults only pool and lounge, family lounge with small arcade games, pool table, and other games," reported a visitor to Thousand Trails Forest Lake, who added there were "activities planned to include an outdoor movie (with free popcorn), arts & crafts for the kids, candy bar bingo, and a DJ."

Age considerations: Not all campgrounds cater to younger children. One parent noted about Lake Myers, "There was not much at all for them to do other than play in the pool... There is a play ground and game room for older kids but nothing for the smaller children to do. If it was just adults going, or even older children maybe 7 and up it would be a great location."

Animals: Some properties feature farm animals. Cobble Hill (now Carolina Rose) has "goats and a horse" on site, and a visitor mentioned that "getting fresh eggs from the check-in store each morning" was "the best part" of their experience.

    Tips from RVers

Site specifics: Request sites away from construction when possible. One RVer at Forest Lake reported, "We get to the site to discover it backs onto a construction area where they're putting more sites... at 7:30am Saturday morning they were out in full force with huge dump trucks and diggers."

Road conditions: Interior roads vary substantially in quality. A camper at Lake Myers warned, "This park is quite difficult to navigate the roads and sites if you have a larger rig," while another at Greystone RV Park appreciated the "flat, paved spots" and noted sites were "concrete" with "easy access to/from Interstate 40."

Long-term occupancy: Be aware many parks have a high percentage of permanent residents. "This is basically a trailer park. Packed, old, nasty," wrote one dissatisfied camper about Lake Myers, while another observed "90% of the sites are occupied by permanent campers." However, a different perspective noted, "Those types always seem to be laid back and quiet."
