Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds

Staying here is great! You’ve got fishing either in 2 private lakes or you can fish in the river but to do the river you’ll need a New York State fishing license. There are playgrounds for the kids, basketball, pool and a remote control car track. We stayed in the “ overflow” are several times and it is very nice.

Took my 8 year old here for her first time camping. We had an amazing time. Plenty to do and the staff were friendly.

Many trees, bring your inter tubes, bug spray !

This campground is beautiful. Nice woods with rocks and a river. We were in the rally area which is like a group site because that’s all that was left for Fourth of July weekend. But the regular RV sites look like they provide lots of privacy.

First trip to ease my way into camping!! Plenty of space, your car is right there next to you, and the camp store has every essential you could ever need if you left anything at home or are just stopping by!! Can’t wait to come back (:

This place had was huge and had a lot of things for kids to do. Our site was on the creek and we went with three little nieces who had a wonderful time. Be sure to put your tent on the woodchips and not the leaves, otherwise you will have chipmunks running under your heads. Lost one star because the bathrooms kept clogging

Rip Van Winkle is a beautiful campground, it’s well run, well maintained, and has a lot to do! I was a little skeptical that we wouldn’t get to choose our site, but you can’t go wrong, they are all wooded, private and well situated. The campground is centrally located you many things to do. Minnewaska state park was gorgeous, and the hikes around Kaaterskill as well. The creek on the property (Plattekill) is great, the pond is fun to fish in, the RC track is great for those who are into it, laundry facilities are efficient, full hookups are the cherry on top. Highly recommend.

Amazing campground with perfectly spaced large sites. There's a few playgrounds a great pool and a lot of amenities can't wait to go back.

Had a great experience here, only one night at tent site. Site was a bit small, but overall place was very clean & taken care of. Booking online can be a bit confusing, I had to call for explanation. Overall I would recommend this place & would definitely go again.

Very easy to level and setup on #7. Full connections. Pay showers and laundry onsite. Loved having gated security. My husband went on a work trip (Albany airport isn’t too terribly far away) and left me alone for a few days and we left our rig to take the train (about 1 hr away in Poukeepsie) into the city for the weekend and we had no problems. Great launch pad to explore the area from. We don’t have kids, but they seemed to offer a lot of programming for them. We enjoyed taking long walks through the campground. Cell coverage was good for us to work (att & Verizon). Stayed 8 nights.

Stayed for a night. We were over in "Lover's Lane" so it was isolated on a separate loop. Couples only on this loop, no kids! Pricey--$60 a night. But super nice being right on the creek--we took our chairs and plopped down in the water. No grill on the fire pit. Still very beautiful!
