One of my favorite stays!!!!

When we rolled in, I got the feeling we were going to really like this place. It turns out, I was right!! They have the best staff and they are everywhere, if you need someone they are always around and super friendly also. They have a pond for fishing, basketball, a mini golf course being redone, jumping pillow, 2 pools, arcade and a playground. The sites we stayed in had a lot of trees and not on top of people. You can tell they maintain the campground and do their best to keep everything clean and they do a great job. They had a free pancake breakfast on the weekend days, and a band Saturday night.

Around the area, there is tons to do if you're an outdoors person. They have an awesome path called the rail trail that you can ride your bike or walk down it goes for 22 miles, and you can stop on the way in little towns or for a bite to eat. They have a wonderful state park with a huge waterfall not a bad hike but 20 mins from the car, and a huge lake if your travel up the mountain. The hiking in the area is for all levels and ages. If you like to be outside, you won't be disappointed.

Newburg KOA

I love this campground, my family and I come every year. Super clean, friendly staff and lots of entertainment. We have seen live music and they have free breakfast events. Lots of activities for the kiddos. I have stayed in every corner of this campground but my favorite sites are the 30’s. Full hookups, back in, lots of trees and really roomy. Lots to do around like New Paltz, Mohonk Preserve, Lake Minnewaska and my favorite hike Bonticou Crag…

4.4 stars

Location- 4 stars- close to NYC but kinda just in the woods and close to homes, not much around.

Sites- 4 stars- a real mixed bag- the rv/trailer only section is really nice, wooded. Has a classic campground feel. The other tent/cabin side was loud and not private. Ours is really great- very woodsy and private, close to amenities.

Staff- 5 stars. Friendly and helpful.

Camping Clientele- 4- a real mixed bag here too.

Amenities- 4 stars. Two pools but both were overcrowded. Playground was large and in decent condition. Mini golf looked pretty small and basic. Jumping pad was under construction and closed, oh well.

Pleasant place overall. Worked well for us as a one night stop. Kids really enjoyed it.

We loved this campground, it was private and had a lot of accommodations like a play ground for kids. There is lot of hiking and places to visit around the area as well.

Excellent KOA experience

Had easy to access pull through site, fairly level. Checkin was easy and camp hosts were a delight to chat with and very nice.

All the pretty standard KOA Holiday amenities if you enjoy that. Lots of families and kids around and having a great time.

A lil too close to the city....

.... But surprisingly quiet and for the most part the guests were decent, the staff was awesome, very helpful, the sites were a little on the small side and stacked a lil closer than I like, but we had a good time, some beautiful views from some beautiful motorcycle roads.

Needs work

This was our 3rd time here as its local to us. The place could use some maintenance...there was garbage at our site and on the roads and we checked in at 5pm which would have given them time to clean up our firepit. The roads to the main sites also need some branch trimming. -The teenage "staff" tooled around on KOA golf carts on their phones and oblivious to everything. Others flew around in their own carts without a care. -They have 2 pools which require signing up ahead of time for 1 hour slots...there is nothing wrong with this however they could accommodate more if they actually opened the 2nd pool, instead its green and gross. -There were also multiple sites up and still loud partying at 2am. I don't have a problem with staying up late at a fire, but just don't be as noisey. -if staying here and concerned about branches I'd suggest one of the pull through sites. Specifically 138, 146 and 145 have a nice concrete patio and nicer firepit if you want to spend a little more. Also be cautious of the "R" and "S" sites...its just a large gravel parking area with little to no shade. Would be okay for a quick overnight but not a vacation week.

Lots of things to do nearby.

Disclaimer- it's not actually in Newburgh or NYC. Its located in Ulster County. It's a convenient place to de-winterize and ensure all systems are working as it's actually in my town. Some sites are hard to get into and others are in more of a large parking lot, but I think that is for workers for local pipeline companies. They have been working on upgrades and adding more patio sites which does improve the place. They have lots of things to do for the kids and a fishing pond as well. Trips are organized to NYC and it's about a half hours drive to a metro north station if you wanted to take a train South. Not far from SUNY New Paltz, local wineries and apple orchards and it's a reasonable drive to Walkway over the Hudson and the bike baths that connect to it. It is located on a quiet road, however the property backs up to the NYS Thruway.

Great for families

I love this campground they have counselors who lead activities with kids in the summer and two pools plus a rock climbing tower, manifold, basketball and a bounce pillow and more... they have rental boats for a lake and fishing at the lake too. If is a great place to bring kids and you are never board! Even when it rains they have activities in the tent outside!

Great location for camping closest to NYC

The was definitely an older, less updated campground. The bathroom facilities were a little dated but clean. The camp store is big. The staff were friendly enough. We actually stayed in a one room cabin for this this trip and it was clean but very basic. We traveled to the city by train both days, it is about a 10 min drive to the station and a 45 min train ride with amazing views along the ride!! it did have 2 pools, a mini golf course, playground.
