Good base camp to see the area

The tent sites are fairly level.  Tent sites with water and electricity are well maintained and work as advertised.  There is little shade in the campground which can make tents hot during the day.  Campground services are good.  Bathrooms were generally clean and functioning.  The two pools are a nice feature in the summer heat.  Laundry area is open 24/7.  There are two dog run areas.  Camp store has essentials as well as extras.  They also have excursion packages for sale to local sites.  Staff are friendly and responsive to any issues.

    Clean and friendly

Nice sites for RVs and tent camping. Some closer than others. Very family friendly. Small pool area. Dog friendly and dog play area. Laundry room and camp store. Half hour from Niagara Falls. I highly recommend.

Loud highway, unclean bathrooms, poor tent site, easy access to Niagara

KOAs aren't my first choice - I don't use the extra amenities and the tent sites are often pretty out in the open. That said, usually I am happy enough with what I get and can count on almost always get a site last minute. This KOA was terrible -- the tent sites didn't have the standard nice flat KOA tent pad and the only level spots put you inches from the road. No trees, bushes, etc between them (but that's not unusual). Bathrooms (main and family cabins, which were a nice option) were not busy but also not clean at all - no set schedule and we never saw anyone cleaning them while we were there. Next to busy loud highway (not something they can do anything about, just an fyi). at least average KOA niceness for $50/night - the experience fell far short of that.

    Close to Niagara Falls

I've always been a huge fan of KOA campgrounds since my parents always used them when I was little and we were traveling with the camper. I've stayed in cozy cabins before as well, but was tent camping here. Close to Niagara falls (probably why most of you are interested).

Close to NY side falls and local attractions

Stayed here to easily get back and forth to the NY side and border crossing at the falls. Nice sites and access right to the amusement park located next door. Playgrounds, pool, dog play area, cabins, tent sites and full hook up back ins and pull through sites.

Great little mom and pop campground

The tent sites were great and spaced apart. The owners were very friendly and there was a nice pond. Showers could need updated but it was about what I was expecting. I love little campgrounds like this so it was even better than I was hoping.

    Wonderful. Very convenient and affordable.

This is a large campground. Walking distance to the theme park. Campground fees include admission to the theme park. The sites are very nice and well maintained. There are campers for rent, cabins for rent, tent sites, RV sites and premium RV sites. It is a great family campground.

    Beautiful campground

This is a fairly new campground on Grand Island near Niagara Falls. There a lot to do here, kayaking the pond, 2 zip lines, miniature golf and great pools. The bathroom/showers are spotless. The sites have a decent amount of room and many have a lot of shade. They have back in or pull through sites, cabins, tent sites and even yurts.

    Beautiful park

I loved everything. The sites are neat. We tent camped with no electric. $23 per night. Fishing allowed in the pond. Bathrooms with showers were spotless. Grass maintained. One small complaint is checkin and out times not enforced. Checkin states 3 pm but we saw many checking in as early as 8 or 9 AM. We could have gained a whole day!  Next time!

Lots of very wet, muddy sites where even mulch would have been helpful.

    Grand island / Niagara KOA

You kind of know what to expect at a KOA - pool, playground, lodge or rec space, etc - but this KOA was also quite clean, a short ride from a fun little amusement park and only a 10-15 min drive from the falls! We had so much fun - this was a great "family campground". We tent camped, but they also had hook up sites up to 50 amps and some nice looking cabins for rent. There was fishing for the kiddos, and I was surprised to find that it was a year round campground as well. Snow camping!

    Clean campground

This campground is clearly well-maintained. Everything was tidy and clean, from our campsite, laundry room, showers, bathroom, camp store, and walking paths. My only complaint is that all campsites do NOT have a view of Lake Ontario. However, it’s just a short walk to a nice grassy area to overlook it. There were several more tent sites available, but this is definitely a campground that caters to seasonal campers/RVs. Only 25 min. outside of Niagara Falls so we were able to get there early. Also, the owner was very responsive.

    lakeside camping

We our family of 5 tent camped on site 155 & 157. The sites were right next to the bathrooms/showers/laundry. The bathrooms were very clean. The showers had 2 separate privacy shower curtains and a bench to put your things in the shower stall. It was 2.25 to wash clothes. There were 2 water fountains outside the bath house. The sites were very quiet and shaded. It was short driving distance to Niagara Falls and our NY state park pass got us free parking at Niagara Falls State Park during our stay. We watched the sun set on Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful place to stay!

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

    Family Camping at its Best!

Our family of four plus one dog enjoyed three nights tent camping in the grassy area overlooking the gigantic playground. Our school age children spent 4-6 hours each day running around with different configurations of kids. It was convenient to be able to keep an eye on the kiddos while doing meal prep or just relaxing. The lake shore made for a great natural playground with logs, small boulders, and skipping stones. Lake sunsets don't want to be missed. Bathrooms were clean, showers warm, and the shared wash area made doing laundry and dishes easy. Sites vary from open and grassy, to waterfront or tree lined. Our family camps often and was very impressed by all this campground had to offer. A great place to stay if camping near Niagara Falls!

    A great campground

We went during their Christmas in July weekend. They had a good list of activities from cookie decorating to visits with Santa. The store is small, but fairly priced. A salt water pool had just been added and was going to open soon. One of the coolest things was rafting on the creek! There was also mini golf and multiple playgrounds. A lot of the sites were right on the creek. The scenery was beautiful. The tent site we had, had access to the creek which was neat. The bathrooms are outdated, but clean. Some of the showers cost a quarter and some don't, which was peculiar. Overall, one of the better campgrounds we stayed at this year. I would definitely recommend this for families which kids of any age.

    Sprague Brook Park

Does well for city folk who want an easy intro to camping

Sprague Brook is a smaller, clean, well maintained ground. There are a lot of tent sites, a few sites have electricity but most do not. There is a play area for kids every time you turn around and a nice little pond for fishing. For what it is, it's a very nice spot if you're looking for a less wild camping experience. You definitely won't be getting lost in the woods around here! But for many families with small kids, it would be a wonderful place that isn't too far off the beaten track, but still offers trails, fishing, and sometimes there are activities for the campers. If you, like me, tend to prefer camping to NOT include seeing other humans, this is not the place for us! The trails are easily followed, bathrooms and showers are about average for places like this (not spotless, a bit buggy, but they do the tricks they were made for!).

    Hamlin Beach State Park Campground

    Newly refurbished

It’s been a long time since my family and I have been camping at HBSP. We (my wife and I) have recently purchased a pull behind RV. This week is our “maiden voyage”. Previous camping trips have been either tent camping or with a pop-up; many, (years ago) here, at Hamlin. So we were a little nervous about all the details and “how-tos” of RV camping. Getting the kinks out has been a challenge but fun at the same time. Moving forward (pun intended), this will be our retirement “home”. So we were pleasantly surprised at our experience here at a somewhat newly refurbished campground. Oh, the layout of all the sites and roadways have remained the same. Mostly, the sites themselves have remained the same: clean, easily accessible, roomy, some secluded. But the reception area and bathrooms have vastly improved. Upon arrival, the staff greeted us very professionally and courteously. At check-in, all of our ID tags and such were ready and waiting for us; it took less than 5 minutes. It could not have been more seamless. We will return to Hamlin. This time, it won’t be so long. Ps. The cellular reception is also greatly improved!!

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

Great base camp for Niagara and other attractions!

Site Details: We stayed on site#79, which was an electric site with a nice lake view. Our row of sites was separated from Lake Ontario by a large, open field. The sunset views over the lake each evening were spectacular. Our site actually had a gravel driveway and pad, as did several others, but I noticed that the majority of sites were grass only. There was a nice row of small shade trees and bushes that separated our row of sites from each other, but the general feel of the campground was more open field rather than forest. I really liked our site overall, but it was a bit of a walk to the bath house and water spigot.

Facilities/Overall Park: This is a very large and popular campground, and to my surprise it didn’t empty out much during the week. The setting is beautiful, the rangers were friendly, and the playgrounds are very nice. The camping loop roads were nicely paved and great for bike-riding. The lake was simply beautiful, and you can even see the Toronto skyline on a clear day. With that said, some of the facilities could use some TLC. There are several bath houses with laundry located throughout the CG, and some are a bit more updated than others. The closest bath house to our site was unfortunately the most dated and dirty of them. The showers were pretty gross, and the bathroom stalls were so-so, but there was constantly TP all over the floor, overflowing trash cans, and only one working soap dispenser(which was empty most of the time). We usually see camp hosts at state parks who take care of bathroom cleaning, but I didn’t notice any hosts or host sites this trip, which I thought was odd. I also noticed that the park in general was sparsely staffed, which seemed odd given the amount of campers.

Surrounding Area/Attractions: The convenient location of this campground can’t be beat. Fort Niagara is about 5 minutes away, the falls are 15-20 minutes away, and there are many farm stands and cute little towns nearby. Another neat town to visit is Lockport, about 30 minutes away(Lake Effect Ice Cream is a must!). This is a very rural area, so the fresh produce stands are plentiful during the summer season. Our favorite was Tom Tower; his peaches and corn were incredible. The fresh cookies from nearby Sanger Farm were delicious as well. Overall, this is a lovely park in a great location. While the facilities within the park were lacking, it is a beautiful and affordable base camp from which to explore all the nearby towns and attractions. We would camp here again!
