    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    Webster Park

    Close Family Camping

We go to webster park family campground several times a year for the past few years. Usually sometime in early May and in late October with an occasional day or two mid summer. It is a smaller single loop campground with sites for tents/small trailers, larger trailers, and motor homes. He difference is 30a power and no water or sewer, 50a power and water, and 50a power and water/sewer. There is a dump station. The motor home sites are all along the entrance road. The small and large trailer sites are distributed around the loop. Nice central playground and bathroom/shower house. There is hiking in the park, lots of nice woods, big field for playing games/sports. It’s close to town and home for us. We stay close to the playground these days in our pop up usually at site 5 so our 5 and 9 year old can walk or ride to campground. We like site 1 as well. We stay on the outer ring on that side of loop as it gives access to the woods and trails behind the sites. The campground is very quiet and very kid friendly to allow them to walk around and ride or scooter the loop alone.

They allow reservations online on the monroe county parks website, and are open May 1st to October 31st.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Guide to Basom

RV parks near Basom, New York operate primarily between May and October due to the region's harsh winters. Most campgrounds in this western New York area sit on flat terrain with elevations around 600-700 feet above sea level. The summer camping season features warm days with average temperatures in the 70s-80s°F, while spring and fall can bring unpredictable weather conditions that campers should prepare for.

What to do

Swimming pools and recreation: Southwoods RV Resort maintains two well-kept pools plus recreational facilities including mini golf, soccer fields, and basketball courts. "Southwoods is a beautiful campground and accommodates campers of all ages. 2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball," writes Hope C.

Amusement park access: Families seeking more extensive entertainment can visit Six Flags Darien Lake Campground, located about 25 miles from Basom. "The campground fees include admission to the theme park. The sites are very nice and well maintained," notes Mary H. This makes it a cost-effective option for families planning multiple park visits.

Golf course camping: Outdoor sports enthusiasts can combine camping and golfing at Hickory Ridge Golf & RV Resort. While primarily a country club, it offers camping with full hookups from May through October. "It's definitely more of a 'locals only' kind of feel as it is a country club and golf resort primarily," explains Mariah G.

What campers like

Family-friendly atmosphere: Parents appreciate the organized activities and dedicated play spaces at several rv sites near Basom. "Family friendly park, lots of activities, park hosts/owners are hands on and awesome," reports Cheryl M. about Southwoods RV Resort.

Attentive management: Many campers highlight exceptional service at campgrounds in the region. "We stayed at Southwoods while visiting the Rochester, NY area... The campground manager was very nice and helpful when we checked in and was able to extend our stay thru the weekend without us having to move sites," shares Nancy W.

Fishing opportunities: Lei-ti Recreation Resort offers fishing access popular with families. "The kids love getting sunnys and there are bass as well," mentions Kristine B., who describes the campground as "by far one of the cleanest campgrounds we have ever stayed at."

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most RV camping options near Basom operate strictly May through October, with virtually no winter camping available. Check opening dates carefully when planning spring trips as several parks have different opening days in May.

Site spacing variations: Site proximity can vary significantly between weekdays and weekends at popular campgrounds. "Weekend sites would be pretty tight together if they were fully booked," notes Sydney W. about Southwoods.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple playgrounds provide recreation options at several RV sites near Basom. "Lots of plays areas for kids," notes Sydney W., making these parks suitable for families with children of varying ages.

Mini golf activities: Family-friendly mini golf courses are available at select campgrounds, offering affordable entertainment without leaving the camping area. Southwoods RV Resort includes this amenity among its family recreation options.

Concert considerations: Six Flags Darien Lake hosts concerts that can create a lively but potentially noisy camping environment. "People mostly stay here for one of two reasons. Because they don't want to drive home drunk from a concert, or they have 14 loud kids that want to be at the amusement park. Both options come with about 2 hours of sleep," cautions Laura Nicole A.

Tips from RVers

WiFi performance: Internet connectivity varies by campground and fluctuates based on occupancy levels. At Southwoods RV Resort, one camper noted good WiFi performance except during peak hours and weekends when the park was at capacity.

Leveling considerations: Most RV sites feature gravel pads that provide relatively level parking. "Good for the purpose it serves as the campground to an amusement park but not good as a stand alone campground," notes Jessica D. about Six Flags Darien Lake Campground.

Limited availability: Small RV parks like Johnson RV Sites offer very limited capacity with just two sites available. Travelers seeking these intimate camping experiences should book well in advance, especially during summer weekends or special events.
