Best RV Parks & Resorts near North Tonawanda, NY

Several established RV parks near North Tonawanda offer full hookup sites for motorhomes of various sizes. Niagara Falls Campground & Lodging provides 103 sites with electric, sewer, and water connections, operating from April through October. Sites are primarily gravel with somewhat tight spacing between neighboring RVs. "Sites are average with uneven rock pads, but bathrooms were clean and management was helpful," noted one camper who felt the $75 nightly rate was excessive for the amenities provided. Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday features 213 RV sites with 50-amp electrical service and accommodates big rigs with pull-through access. DINO RV Campground in Cheektowaga offers three sites for motorhomes with electric, sewer, and water hookups, though fires are not permitted on the property.

Full hookup availability varies significantly between campgrounds in the region. Many RV parks near Niagara Falls charge premium rates during peak tourist season, with prices ranging from $65-85 per night for standard hookups. Reservation requirements become more stringent during summer months and special events. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Gander RV of Buffalo provides a sanitary dump without water hookups for travelers passing through. Road noise can be problematic at several locations, particularly those adjacent to highways. Based on reviews from The Dyrt, most RV sites in the area offer minimal privacy with one visitor describing Niagara Falls Campground as "right off the main road with nearby trains blaring their horns throughout the night." Most parks welcome pets but enforce standard leash policies and vaccination requirements.

    Evangola State Park Campground

Some Sites Have a View of Lake Erie

    Unfortunately, my site did not.

However, my site wasn't crowded and the electricity was reliable. This campground has three loops. One has 30 amp power, one has 50 amp power (with a 30 amp outlet on the same pedestal) and the third loop is for tent camping. There are several places to get water in the camp, so be sure to fill up your tanks before you park. There is a dump station. None of the sites are full hook up.

Each site has a picnic table and a grill.

There are two bath houses. The newer one - between loops one and three - also has laundry facilities.

Your payment for your campsite entitles you to admission to the beach, which is a hike or a drive away.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

    Simple campground on Lake Ontario

We stayed here because it was near Niagara Falls and had site availability. We stayed at a non-electric campsite (mid-June). There were 4 other campsites occupied in our area. We have a camper van with solar power and fresh water. There is a shower in the non-electric section but it's not heated water. Since it's June, the temperature was only mildly shocking to my senses. However, the rest of the showers in the campground are heated (we checked). There are at least two laundry facilities. I actually exchanged cash for quarters at the front office. The grounds are well maintained. Beware of the resident skunk that walks around. I didn't test the cell signal here but I was able to work remotely and video chat.

    Cinderella Motel & Campsite

Basic, Convenient, VFM (value for money)

This campground is very basic with very close campsites.  The bathhouse and laundry are old but clean.  The staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very close to Niagara falls and for the money it is the best campground here.  KOA and Branches CGs are nicer but they are also triple the price which for us did not seem worth it.  We were in a back in gravel site that backed up to the motel which may not seem that nice but the electric, water and sewer worked perfectly.  Our 40 foot MH and Toad fit with room to spare.  There were sites that were on the outskirts of the property that backed to the woods which some people may prefer.  Those sites were just as close although there were several that would take big rigs bit don't expect to open your awnings in most sites.   There is a nice grassy area in the center with a small covered pavilion.   There are a few sites on the side/front of Motel.  We were here to visit Niagara Falls so location and a basic campground with full hookups was all we were looking for and this campground fit our needs perfectly.  We would stay here again.

    Niagaras Lazy Lakes Camping Resort

    Clean & Friendly

We have camped here several times. Bathrooms are very clean along with the showers. They are cleaned on a daily basis. Store on site has just the bare amenities. Big clubhouse, 2 heated pools and a pond to fish (catch & release). Sites are big. Pet friendly. Staff are very friendly. 10-15 minutes from Niagara Falls and close to stores. It does have 2 on site laundry facilities but the dryers take a while. Enjoy going there.

    Darien Lakes State Park Campground

    Clean/Quiet Campground

9/25-9/29/22- The park was nearly empty, perhaps 6 or 8 other campers widely spread out. It was immaculate and the sites well spaced apart. All site have a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had both 30A and 50A power, was pretty level left/right but about 6” high in front before we leveled our 34’ fifth wheel. The park has drinking water faucets at a variety of places throughout, but site#15 has a faucet directly next to it, so we had water available too. Both AT&T 4G and Verizon 5G had 3 bars reception. The dump station was clean and convenient. It looked like a great place for kids that included at least one (probably more) playground.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

An old campsite that fits our needs

This is not a resort campground nor is it a campground built for escapism. It’s very close to Niagara Falls, the Rainbow Bridge (for driving into Canada), and Buffalo, NY.

Mike is very friendly; check in was easy. The sites are full hook up or w/e only. There are pull throughs and back-ins, 30amp and 50amp sites. Your site is assigned once you arrive. You pay a deposit when you book and pay the rest when you arrive.

They have Good Sam and weekly discounts and I was also given a cash/check discount. So our total was $51 a night for a week’s stay.

The sites toward the front are definitely more level and have better cell service, but the sites toward the back are better shaded. Cell service and wifi was enough for me to work during the week and stream at night.

The facilities could use some work. They are very old, and it’s hard to tell if they are clean or just old. Laundry is available - $2.50 a wash/$1.75 a dry.

Basically, don’t expect a beautiful vacation campground. I work full time remotely from the camper. I was able to work during the days and get to Niagara Falls, CAN, and Buffalo quickly after work. Even with the discount, which I’m thankful for, it is overpriced for what it is. But it served my needs, I felt safe, and the owner was friendly so 3 stars. With some TLC to the sites and the facilities, I’d give it 4.

    AA Royal Motel & Campground

    Good location

This campground is open year around which is really hard to find in this area. We needed to come here for personal reasons before any other campground was opened. So far this isn’t bad could be better/ cleaner.

It is 50 amp full hook up with free Wi-Fi that doesn’t suck.

The site are paved level back ins and pull throughs

The staff was nice enough. Haven’t had much interaction with him.

There is a great Italian store right across the street and Niagara Falls down the road. I would stay here in a pinch again

Arrived late at night to this established site. This is a mixed accommodation campground with established long term residents & short term sites.

Some sites include a table, power access and tire rim for fire-ring. Showers & flushing toilets are near RV sites in back area. Small camp store, swimming pond & fishing pond. Manager, Christine very nice & helpful.

Campground is relatively close to scenic drives along Lake Ontario & Niagra State Park, Niagra Falls.

Guide to North Tonawanda

Camping options near North Tonawanda, New York range from basic overnight sites to full-service RV resorts. The area sits along the western edge of Lake Ontario at approximately 570 feet above sea level with humid continental climate conditions. Seasonal considerations are important as most RV campgrounds in this region operate from early May through late October due to harsh winter conditions.

What to do

Water recreation access: Southwoods RV Resort provides accommodations within 45 minutes of Lake Ontario beaches and features two swimming pools on-site. "Such a sweet time here. Owner was so pleasant as was the woman who helped me book our stay. It was a great place to stay the night," shared one visitor.

Nearby attractions: Motorhome sites near North Tonawanda offer convenient access to Niagara Falls with most campgrounds within a 20-30 minute drive. "Tour bus stops at office. Restaurants nearby. Note: if you are coming in from the southern side, DO NOT GO THROUGH DOWNTOWN BUFFALO like we did! PAY THE TOLLS," advises one camper who stayed at Niagara Falls/Grand Island KOA Holiday.

Local activities: Several campgrounds coordinate seasonal events during summer months. "During our stay they had a closing weekend pizza and wings party with live music for a small fee," notes one visitor, who also mentioned nearby historic dining options like The Johnson House restaurant which serves prime rib.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathroom cleanliness varies considerably among RV parks in the region. Skyline RV Resort earns consistent praise for maintenance. "Great campground, a little tight if you like to spread out. The employees were very friendly. They have a repair shop on site," notes one reviewer.

Family amenities: Many campgrounds offer extensive recreation options for children. "Southwoods is a beautiful campground and accommodates campers of all ages. 2 well kept pools, playgrounds, laundry facilities, mini golf, soccer, basketball. The employees are so helpful and nice!" reports one visitor.

Pet facilities: Most rv sites near North Tonawanda permit dogs with standard restrictions. "Pond was great for the dogs but it's a little run down here & lots of seasonal sites. Looks more like a trailer park," noted one camper at Niagara Hartland RV Resort, indicating mixed experiences with pet amenities.

What you should know

Site spacing: Most campgrounds feature relatively close quarters between camping units. "Sites are pretty close and feel a little cramped when the park is full," notes one reviewer about RV parking arrangements, adding that train noise can occasionally disturb the otherwise peaceful setting.

Seasonal considerations: The majority of RV parks operate from May through October with variable pricing. "We stayed in August and we really enjoyed the setup and location of all the amenities this campground has," reports one camper who appreciated the orientation provided by staff. "The owner took us around on a golf cart to show us different areas within the campground."

Reservation requirements: Advance bookings become essential during summer weekends and holiday periods with limited availability. Red Rock Ponds RV Resort appears "more for permanent campers" according to visitors, which can limit availability for short-term stays.

Tips for camping with families

Activity options: Campgrounds with organized recreation programs provide built-in entertainment. "The jump pad, swimming pools, and playground areas gave our kids plenty to do between sightseeing trips," notes one family visitor describing the range of options available for children of different ages.

Budget considerations: Family camping near attractions typically commands premium pricing. "This park anywhere else would be a $40-45 park. We traveled from California and would stay again but would price other parks prior to staying," advised one visitor who felt rates were inflated due to tourist demand.

Security features: Frost Ridge RV Park and several other campgrounds provide gated access for additional security. "The campground is gated and very clean and well-groomed," notes one visitor who appreciated this feature for family camping, especially when returning to camp after dark.

Tips from RVers

Dump station access: Not all campgrounds offer full sewer hookups at individual sites. "The map was not correct and we did not have sewer hook up at the sight. The dumping station was free or included," reported one RVer who encountered unexpected limitations despite reservation confirmations.

Internet connectivity: WiFi quality varies significantly between campgrounds and even between different areas within the same park. "Internet is really good and has been upgraded recently with 2G and 5G access," notes a visitor who stayed at one of the larger RV parks in the region.

Site leveling challenges: Many RV sites near North Tonawanda require leveling blocks. "Grounds mostly dirt with uneven rock pads," reported one RVer, suggesting bringing adequate leveling equipment for comfortable overnight stays, especially for larger motorhomes.
